    Gyros Sandwich
    Vita P.

First time trying Brandy's and thought it was pretty good! Ordered the gyros sandwich but the combo deal (includes fries and a drink). Gyro sandwich was a nice portion - plenty of gyro meat. Fries were excellent and fresh. I added a cup of cheese for my fries. Entire meal was a whopping $17. Although I thought the gyro snd fries were good, I felt like the cheese cup added ($2) and entire meal was a bit overpriced. I'd come back to Brandy's; they have a couple menu items that look good. Just wouldn't make it a weekly staple.

People who ordered 12 minutes after me received their food 10-15 minutes before me.

Walk-in / ToGo Very tense awkward energy received upon entry. Thick heaviness & apprehension as approached counter. Service Intentionally Delayed, and appeared to be entertaining the guy at the end of the prep line... Like in a mocking fashion. Apparently he was getting a funny kick out of serving everyone who placed orders after me, while a waited pleasantly & patiently. Think he wanted me to go off. Due to the surprised faces & uncomfortable eyes, I should have just left before ordering BUT I went outside to wait in my car bc I didn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable with my presence. But after returning almost 10 minutes later, I was still patiently waiting for my number. 43 but saw 44 being served. He asked what number I showed him. His face was bemused as if there was a secret surprise coming. Whatever, Ok fine I'm waiting chilling & step back. Then Later numbers & people who ordered after me (even if they had 3 separate orders) were all being received. Hmm, No problem. He still side eyeing & smirking & just being too weird. But I ordered a piece of fish, so was waiting patiently. But by the time 5 numbers after me were served, then I asked about my number. Yet he was doing this non verbal head nod hand sorta almost wave in a direction while inaudibly mumbling thing to me, which SURPRISE I actually understood... but didn't know why? I was going to speak to him in Spanish to make it easy... EXCEPT Like he speak English clearly to everyone else in here tho??? Whatever, but then notice his snarky eyes & attempt to hide his amused smirks & what a great time he's trying not to look like he's having inside... I'm grown so don't give AF, except this a restaurant & you're making my food! Step back & wait bc I'm not going off about you being childish. Then he starts playing musical chairs with fry trays. There's a fresh batch that was just finished, several actually were handed out in front of me. But he wants to Re arrange all of the FRY baskets repeatedly & take a special basket with very little fries in it (1 personal size order) and put it over in the other oil THAT NOBODY WAS USING the whole time. I POLITE REFUSED THE FRIES. Since my bag of food has been sitting on the side FINALLY for several minutes. Food I DO NOT WANT A DIFFERENT FRIES FROM AN UNUSED GREASE THAT'S DARK... when I been standing here the whole time watching you hand out fresh fries & you still had some there. I PAYED 4.99 + TAX for fries I didn't get. $6.00 + Tax for a piece of the FISHIEST SMELLING TILAPIA like worse than old catfish smell... THREW INTHE GARBAGE DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF DOOR BC I CANNOT HAVE MYSELF OR Vehicle STINKING LIKE THAT... it was horribly funky & I could not do it. The egg & peppers on a pita looked good. But honestly. I didn't trust nothing anymore. So ultimately paid $19 for egg on pita The last bite of my pita had a weird texture like slimy. Note there was not sauce of this dry pita & the scrambled eggs were yellow yellow & well done with some peppers cooked into them. So yah, felt worried & disgusted that I didn't just leave when the VIBE WAS NOT VIBING. Ugh Ambiance Overall = Unwelcoming. Akward. Antagonizing Clean, family friendly LOOKING / but it not. Honestly even the customers seemed shocked I was there. Excuse me for not realizing that even the children AND ADULTS worried stare like I'm literally a purple monkey. Ridiculous! I ENCOURAGE ANYONE WITH A BROWN SKIN TO TRY THEM OUT & SEE HOW WEIRDED OUT YOUR PRESENCE MAKES EVERYBODY ... only order fries & stand at the window to see it go down

Their hotdogs are tasty enough, and I have popped in a couple of times. I see the service is usually very fast, but I have always been there during non-peak hours. There are a lot of better places to get a hotdog in Chicago, but this is right by a bus stop, so that is what has compelled me to visit when I am in the area for other reasons. While good, not really worth a special trip. They do not keep the dining area super clean, even when not busy.

I pass this place all the time and tell myself I should try it. I end up forgetting I'm actually hungry. Honestly, I couldn't get myself to want to eat at a place called Brandy's; it sounds like a name of a bar . Anyway, I finally took the plunge tonight after a trip to Ace. I pass a driver as he exits, and he said hi and held the door. I'm not sure if he worked for them or Grubhub, but that was so nice. No one does that anymore, except me. I go in and start looking at their unexpectedly huge menu. After a minute, I get greeted by a nice cashier. I tell him that I've never been before as I try to take in everything... I found the combo menu and ordered the #1, a gyro sandwich with fries and a drink. I love gyros so that was an easy decision especially since they carve it fresh off the spit. I fill up my drink and a few minutes later my order was ready. The cook hands it to me and asks if I want napkins and ketchup. I say sure on the napkins. He hands me a bunch. The people are here super nice! I'll be a repeat customer just for that. I go home and finally get to eat. Then gyro was amazing. Not.only did they overfill with meat, it was so flavorful! The sauce was yummy. The tomato slices were thick and juicy. The fries were good too, but that gyro! I will go again and try other things. I might have to order the gyro a billion more times before I venture to another menu item though. They also have these slices of baklava the size of my foot. They were huge! I might have to try it one day when I feel like excessively cheating.

Time to share some Nasty and Rude experience with Brandys on Harlem Ave. Bought 3 Gyros for Lunch for my boys!! Got home everyone opens up their Sandwiches One had to long hairs and one had eyelashes in it!! Called them up one lady puts me on hold and Hangs up ! I called again Manager answers and said You the one with the Hair? I said yes he then hangs up on me! 3rd call we told him no longer going there!! They are always packed with people They don't care!!! So much for supporting our local restaurants in the neighborhood!!! Grosss Place. Wasted 45.00!!!

    Hard crusty gyros meat.

I had to give one star to leave this review. Gyro meat was hard and crusty. Pita was dry not fresh. I called and the Greek offered to replace but argued that they do not sell dry meat or pita. Last month we got Italian sausage that obviously had been sitting out for hours. It was hard as rock. Go anywhere but here. 17 dollars for shitty food. Brandy sucks.

I didn't even make it to the pork belly taco because I was full off the flauta and chorizo taco lol. The hot sauces that they bring to your table in the squirt bottles were bomb dot com!! Spicy enough for some "flava" but not burn your bottle hole spicy. Overall, I highly recommend this establishment for the vibes (I requested they play Bad Bunny and they obliged- zero questions asked and no pushback) and the food! We also got the havarti hash, because it sounded really good, and it didn't disappoint. I'm not sure if I've had a frittata or omelet that is like this, with such a strong sweet profile with the savory. It was interesting. I added sausage too and it was pretty good. The hot chocolate was tasty, and they have quite a few beverage options from mimosas to juices to lattes as you might expect. I'd thought this maybe was just a juice bar with some pastries but I was mistaken. They have a full, albeit small, menu, with impressive dishes and beautiful presentation. They also have had several fundraisers in the short time they've been open. Parking is good. The parking lot *beneath* the surface lot is actually public parking, not just for the condos as I once thought. There's also public parking across the street by the library and street parking along the Northwest Highway side of the restaurant.

The egg sandwich was okay, but the bagel tasted like those cheap bagels you would get at a hotel during their complimentary breakfast that come from a bag. The sandwich didn't have anything on it other than exactly what they called it on the menu: a bagel, sausage links cut in half, an egg, and cheese. Nothing on the sandwich was seasoned or flavorful. My husband enjoyed his food much more than I did, and he ordered the Big Texas Breakfast ($12.95). This came with country-fried steak with sausage gravy on top, 2 eggs your way, and hash brown potatoes. He also ordered sausage links on the side (3 for $4.25). The service was friendly, and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time, which worked well for us since we were on a bit of a tight schedule. Overall, Lola's Diner delivered a simple diner experience with homemade-style food. I would come here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice for breakfast.

I don't typically stop at this location due to credit card fees added - but that seems like a norm…read morethese days. My son enjoyed his first Philly steak sandwich while I had my go to eggs and corned beef hash. Tasty I would definitely give it a try if in the area
