Like any terrible relationship, I have the feeling that if I bring up one, small, issue they will utilize that to open a can of worms and take all my money and then I'll leave. ...Wow. That analogy works really well but hits a little hard. ANYWAY. Eastman's has restored my faith in a healthy relationship. Car-wise. I'm working on the other stuff. I have been to this shop a few times because its location is near my work, but I will continue going there because of their honesty, dedication to service, and customer satisfaction. Every time I have been here they have always been AMAZING at being forthright. In one instance, their technicians looked over my vehicle and Larry (the owner) told me that...although they could do the work, to scout around. It may be more cost effective to go to a shop that specializes in what I had going on. (AMAZING. A place that's honest and will take a customer's well-being over a credit card swipe). Another example is when I went there in the morning and asked if they could look at my battery. I could pick up my car later in the d... NOPE. Larry walked out with me. Looked it over. Grabbed a wrench. And fixed my issue within 5 minutes! When I asked the charge he, clearly joking, said, "I dunno...five bucks...?" (I did give him that $5). When my battery acted up again though, he was still there. He ran tests on it. We couldn't find the problem, and he apologize (which - I think it was a fluke...I haven't had an issue since) but he did recharge it for me. He also didn't actively seek to find other areas of improvement. He said there were more tests he could do but said, those take more time and are more expensive. We should see if this was just a one-off (it was) before going through all of that. His shop has probably saved me 100's of dollars. Honesty. Honesty is huge when building a rapport with customers and retention. Of course, quality technicians and work is required and Eastman's has that as well. I don't know much about cars so I can't really speak on technique. I just know this: When I need something fixed.. They fix it. It doesn't mess up again. (or) Eastman's will give me honest answers, recommend other avenues to resolve a problem (and) Charge fairly or just ask for $5.00.

Let me preface this by saying that given others' experience, my terrible experience with Wheelock's…read moreseems to be an outlier. Still, it seems wrong not to share what happened. TLDR: I trusted Wheelock's to check a car before I bought it, bought it with their word that it was all good, and now will have to spend more than $1000 to fix obvious problems they missed. On April 12th I test drove a friend's car because I was thinking of buying it. I liked it, but noticed the AC was not working and the check engine light was on. She dropped the car off at Wheelock's to get checked out before I got it, and I had a budget in mind such that if the fixes cost more than that, I wouldn't take the car. We both called them and made sure to list what we wanted to get checked out (she mentioned a couple issues she knew the car had, and I mentioned the stuff you always want to have checked out before buying a car such as the suspension and clutch, plus the AC which was not working). I eventually got a price (~$2000) and told them to go ahead. I then picked up the car on April 23rd, with them telling me it was 100% and all good. Later that day I noticed the AC was still not working and the check engine light was still on. I had some important trips to do in the next few weeks though, so had to drive it like that. This was red flag 1: how can a decent auto shop say the car is 100% without figuring out and fixing the issue with a check engine light? It's literally a light on the panel. I later checked the error code for that and got that I needed to replace a part. So that's $120 off my pocket. Then I tried replacing the AC freon, since that's usually why the AC doesn't cool, and it didn't work. I'm calling them they said - I kid you not - that "the AC was blowing cool air so we thought it was working but it was a cold day". This was the extent to which they had checked a specific part that both the owner and I had mentioned to not be working. This was red flag 2, and a huge one. I was hoping they'd understand this issue and give me a discount with the actual AC fix, so I decided to take the car there for these last few fixes, as opposed to finding a better prepared auto shop. This was my first car in the US, though, and I was unaware that I need to make an appointment with the auto shop before taking a car. So I just took it, and they said it might take a while because I didn't have an appointment. That part is fine, 100% understand. What I don't understand is why they told me on 4 separate occasions that they'd call back with a price "later that day"/"right away", if they clearly weren't ready. Just tell me you'll need a couple more days. This was really frustrating and when I complained they told me to pick up the car and forget it, they would not fix my car. So I wasted a week. It was my fault for giving them the second chance, though - now I know that the issue with my AC is the compressor, so that's $700-900 off my pocket. If they had checked it properly as *two people* explicitly asked them to when they had the car in April, I'd never have bought it. Now I need to materialize $1000+ out of nowhere because of their disrespect for my money. Again, I hope this is an outlier. But I'd recommend you think twice before going here. Any shop that does not check a check engine light and considers checking whether the AC is blowing cold air (ignoring two people's word that it isn't) as properly checking an AC does not seem trustworthy. I'll be down $3000 by the end of this, and who knows which other issues they did not properly check. Very disappointed. Hope they get better in the future.

After my husband had tried, the breaks were VERY soft and we needed to get it to a professional fast. We called around and Magic Muffler quoted us the cheepest price. We took it in and within a couple hours they called to tell me when they got it apart to let me know that one of the calipers had been broken when my husband tried to fix it. They let me know that it would be another $35 on top of the quoted price. They also let us know that the rotors would need replaced soon. I let him know I didn't have the money for that right now and there was no pressure. He explained that the rotors would make it through these new brake pads, but they would wear out faster till the rotors were changed. They called a couple hours later and I picked up my truck. A little more than 24 hours later I felt a vibration in the gas pedal and the whole truck was shaking. I called them the next day and they said bring it on back and we'll check it out. I took it back and told them I that I didn't have another ride that day and was going to have to walk home and back. And one of the workers said someone could give me a ride home. I was so greatful to not have to walk home. They called a couple hours later. And said they checked it all out. Checked their work, retightend the lug nuts, and took it out for a drive. They noticed the emergency break was pushed about halfway down. They gave me peace of mind and accommodated me with everything I asked. I whole hearted recommend these guys to anyone who is looking for a good price and great customer service.

I explained the issue, I was able to order a part from AutoZone which they then picked up on the way, and came directly to me. When they arrived promptly after calling, it only took them an hour to confirm the diagnosis and make the repair. They charged a nearly unbelievably fair 8% of what the other auto shops were quoting. The total was literally less than a simple diagnostic from another shop. They saved me approximately $1200 in savings and got me back on the road same day. The shops are backed up and would've had me wait a day or two causing me accumulate more hotel and food cost and have to reschedule my flight.
