As a someone who has seen how this McDonalds operates through many hours of the day, this workplace…read moreis dreadful. The management system is so corrupt, they do not follow some laws and multiple managers enjoy picking on employee's. My aim of this review is to point out how Markeaton McDonalds should treat employees' fairly, lawfully and respectfully. These implementations would increase the likelihood of more individuals having a positive response to working there. Firstly, managers should be following the law when giving breaks to their employees'. A person under the age of 18 is lawfully entitled to have a 30 minute uninterrupted resting break after they work for 4.5 hours. Someone who is above the age of 18 is entitled to have a 20 minute uninterrupted resting break after they work 6 hours or longer. I have seen many employees' under the age of 18 be forced into taking resting breaks one hour into an 8 hour shift. This is done to enable all the staff to be working at periods of time in the day which become busy. However, this is not legal and becomes a health and safety risk due to them being overworked. There are many health and safety hazards in workplaces who handle food, such as a grill and hot oil. Staff can hurts themselves on these stations due to not being fully rested/ tired - as a result of bad timed breaks, from the lack of managerial skills. Secondly, everyone in this workplace who is a crewmember, is placed onto a 0 hour contract. This allows the employer to give or not to give out work, likewise the employee can accept or deny work at their will. This is another law which seems to be misinterpreted by the corporate side of this McDonalds. Staff who have being given shifts are allowed to reject shifts at their own will without needing to provide a reason. Likewise managers can give out shifts or not without providing a reason. However, when presented with shifts, employees' are forced into making a reason for rejecting the shift. This makes turning down a shift very difficult to do. In the handbook, staff should aim to give at least 2 hours notice before their shift starts to ensure the managers have adequate time to adjust. To make this a healthy environment for staff and managers, both parties should be more thoroughly educated on what their contract actually means. And potentially EHO should become involved in order to train the managers right from wrong. Finally, the ethics of how staff members are treated by their superiors is unkind and disheartening. Staff members are treated as if "they are in a prison cell." Obviously this is severely unacceptable and in my opinion managers should be given a training course to educate them on how to treat staff. Treating staff which discouraging words and shouting at them across the kitchen should be changed for having short private meeting to discuss what the issue is. Rather than causing an outrage which makes the staff members feeling humiliated and extremely vulnerable. Especially in front of other colleagues and customers. Managers who see this happen will also think that this kind of behaviour is acceptable and is a form of teaching. Which is what is happening right now, and should be re-evaluated. This review is aimed towards the workplace and nothing to do with; food, service or atmosphere. I hope this will reach a manager inside Markeaton McDonald's and they will read this carefully. And try to understand how this review is speaking for many staff in this specific branch, maybe even others.

They have a good range of set pizzas like the classic Hawaiian or the more exotic sounding Orient Express, or you can build your own from a multitude of toppings. The pizzas come in four sizes from small to extra large, and they also do stuffed crusted pizzas and calzone. Personally for me ham, mushroom and pepperoni is just fantastic. Dia la Pizzeria also offers a good range of pasta dishes, jacket potatoes, chicken and a variety of different burgers. They have also recently started serving Mexican food, including nachos and enchiladas. They offer a range of meal deals including the early week special and the 'Family Feast' Although Dia la Pizzeria has a sizeable restaurant area where you can eat in, which has an American Diner type feel, they also have a delivery service. This is free with orders over £10, £1.20 delivery otherwise, but orders have to be over a £5. Simply just the best pizzas I've ever had!

Dia La Pizzeria in Swadlincote offers a nice menu covering delicious Pizza's, a variety of burgers,…read morekebabs amongst others and a good selection of starters. Particular mention from the starters menu has to go to the Garlic mushrooms which come in garlic butter and is a reasonably sized portion....they are delicious and also come with two slices of garlic bread! The Pizza's are an extremely tasty alternative to the more expensive Domino's Pizza and the toppings are fresh and of good quality. If you are looking for a value for money Pizza takeaway when guests are visiting then Dia La Pizzeria is definately the place to go/call! The burgers are nice on the whole although I wasn't particularly keen on the chicken burgers as the meat consistency didn't seem right and had a somewhat rubbery texture. The chips are essentially fries and are siimilar to most places that do not specialize in chips (fish and chip shops!) but still taste really nice and are cooked just right. I give this outlet 4 out of 5 stars as although the food on their menu is lovely on the whole there are a few dishes that haven't been to my personal liking and I would like to see more variety on the deserts menu. Don't let this put you off however as I have been going there for over four years and still go there when I fancy a nice pizza!
