Drab dining room. No artwork. No music
    John B.

Ambiance is a -5. No music in the dining room. No artwork on the walls. Just a big open room with some tables and booths thrown it. Infact the only thing on the walls in the entire place was a sticker of a coke slush, thrown above the mens room hand dryer. Wtf? Came around 3pm on a sunny wednesday. Dining room was empty, not too tidy, but i was able to find a clean table right in the middle. 2 people were holding down the whole restaurant. An older woman with white hair in the kitchen and a young girl on register/drive thru. Ordered everything fresh. Soda machine was broken but was supplying the soundtrak with a loud electrical hum. After about 8 minutes, the food was ready. It was hot, fresh & the soda didnt taste funny. Despite the lack of atmosphere, I found nothing wrong my visit & opposite of what a lot of people are complaining about in other posts, which sermed to be mostly drive thru complaints. Get out & come inside. Maybe I just cane on a good day?

    The Impossible Whopper
    Mark K.

On a road trip and passing through this quiet little town, and needed just a quick bite for an early dinner before game 5 of The Series. Checked out a few dining options nearby, but they were either packed or too "not my mood" and so I decided it was about time I put this "Impossible Whopper" to the test, just like the TV commercial. I've had many Impossible Burgers in the past few years, from amazing "beta" burgers in SF to the now becoming common and available pre-formed burgers that any chain can use. Mind you, the ad on the TV shows it juicy and dripping, just off the grill - well, let's see how far truth in advertising holds up. This location is on a corner, in a sparse commercial area - vineyard on one side, motels, restaurants and gas stations as neighbors. It's a boxy building, next door to a parking lot and with a drive-thru on the far side. The outdoor seating is not too inviting, and the umbrellas have certainly seen better days. Inside is a large, open (almost too utilitarian) dining area, with counter and self-serve beverage bar on one end. The area is well lit with lots of windows - through which I watched my motel as I ate - and was clean, if quiet with less than a few people dining in on a Sunday afternoon about 5pm. The drive-thru was hopping, as they say, though, and the cook staff was definitely earning their money. I placed my order with a gentleman I took to be the team leader/manager, and he was friendly and efficient, even reminding me through a question that "yes! I would like to add cheese to the burger" - I likely would have forgotten, so that was appreciated. I got my receipt and stepped aside to wait. During this time I watched the crew at work. They were busy, but focused and the communication among them form the window server to the counter to the cook/assembly staff was amazing! They were checking on the status of various foods, reminding others of a pending large order of this or that, and when the cashier (not the one who helped me) had an issue on the register with an order, the gentleman who helped me went over and walked him through it, with patience and efficiency. I don't always see these dynamics, usually because there are too many customers, too much noise or whatever, but I really could see this crew tonight and I was impressed. My order arrived, and although it was for "eat in" it arrived in a bag. Oh well, if that's the WORSE thing that happens to me today, I'm happy. And there were plenty of ketchup packets - cha ching! I took the bag and sat at a table, and opened it up. There were too many fries to fit in the cardboard carton, and they layered the bottom of the bad. I needed that extra ketchup! And I looked at the receipt and realized the gentleman who took my order had doubled my cheese order to "HEAVY cheese"! He can see my soul . . . LOL. I unwrapped the Impossible Whopper, and it looked rather plain. But definitely looked like a burger of meat, if you didn't know better. Then the bite - oh myyyyy. The taste was surprisingly good, and if you again did not know about the burger you were holding, you would NOT know it was not meat - try it and tell me your thoughts. The patty wasn't juicy drippy, like the ad, so no truth there. But the taste was great, and the burger was much juicier than most Impossible burgers I've had. The Counter, in comparison, has a great Impossible burger as well, but for the price between the two, the Impossible Whopper is delicious, affordable and readily available now. That means a lot to me, especially when traveling or in an unfamiliar city and trying to find a good Impossible burger. The fries, as a side note, were hot and crispy - perfect for fast food fries. All together, I give this location and this crew and this meal a solid 4-stars. It was indeed what I had hoped for, and in honesty, was more than I expected after seeing the outside and wondering into what I had gotten myself. So if you're in Delano, or feel like dipping off 99 for a quick meal and stretch, look no further - hopefully you'll be a fan, too.

*HORRIBLE* I waited 40 minutes to a get 2 meals. At first I was like "maybe they are short on staff" but it was only 4 cars waiting. There is no reason we should've waited 40 minutes & on top of that my nuggets were hard and my sprite was yellow!!!!! HORRIBLE SERVICE

The food was good, no complaints there. This location needs to focus on presentation. When we arrived there were three customers so they were not busy. A lot of the tables were dirty and the floors were all so sticky. The windows were super dirty and dusty so that for sure has been a while since it had been clean.

Staff is pretty efficient and friendly. Another win, this chain does not nickel and dime customers for extras (sauce packets , chilies, ketchup, etc) Restaurant is always clean. Plenty of free parking and conveniently located right off Highway 99. I ordered a cheeseburger (single), fries and chocolate shake. Everything was a 5/5 The double double was equally as delicious. 5/5 Everything was prepared as ordered. Ambiance is pretty laid back.

We placed our order with Roger who was lackadaisical at the register, my buddy ordered to go and when I went up get and asked Roger did my buddy get it to go "he was kinda rude and just said " I don't know I wasn't paying attention" that blew my mind I've been to plenty of in and outs from so cal to nor cal and employees at the register have always been on point, professional, and ahead of the game. That was a bit of a let down and hope Roger can improve on his skills at the register. The next thing that made this rating go down was my order #6 came before 3, 5,7 those people were waiting 10 mins plus!!! I had my buddy go ans confront the employee and they had his bag and burger sitting on the counter for 10 mins never once did they give him fires, it was when he complained that they finally got his fries in the bag ( which was a bummer because his burger was cold) Aside from that the place is spacious and nice, but the employees don't meet the standards other in and out live up to, and I'm assuming this is because it's Delano a small town. I'm hoping things improve and can follow FIFO ( first in first out) as oppose to stuff in the closest bag and dishing it out to whomever. No point in having a number if you won't follow by the numbers. Also my burger was sloppy looking.

I'm hot headed so when they look up at me (both of them) and go back to what they were doing with their hands w/o so much as a grunt of acknowledgment, it irks me. working with their hands doesn't require much to say, "hi, we'll/ I'll be with you in a min." Stood there for a minute, thought to myself "are they open? Maybe they're not even open and I just walked in... nah it's 12 on a Tuesday, they're friggin open they're just ignoring me...this happened last time, give it another min THEN go to Subway across the way if they don't come help you in the next 60 seconds." I'm old school, and Ive had the lack of privilege required to end up working customer service before. I was trained to acknowledge customers as soon as they enter the establishment, not actively avoid eye contact with them until you're willing to engage wtf so idk. if that type of customer service leaves a bad taste in your mouth, do online for pick up. They'll ignore you then too, but at least you signed up for the lack of human interaction haha Location is decent but parking lot is tight. Each time I've gone there have been parking spots available and there is a dedicated curbside pick up spot but the area itself is a tight area with lots of traffic. That being said, the sandwich is friggin awesome so who gives a shit about them saying hi when you walk in. Point is, don't be salty about them not acknowledging you if all you want is a good sandwich; if you want someone to ask about your day and validate your existence by saying "hello," go to Starbucks? Superior quality ingredients and superior quantities.
