Drab dining room. No artwork. No music
    John B.

Ambiance is a -5. No music in the dining room. No artwork on the walls. Just a big open room with some tables and booths thrown it. Infact the only thing on the walls in the entire place was a sticker of a coke slush, thrown above the mens room hand dryer. Wtf? Came around 3pm on a sunny wednesday. Dining room was empty, not too tidy, but i was able to find a clean table right in the middle. 2 people were holding down the whole restaurant. An older woman with white hair in the kitchen and a young girl on register/drive thru. Ordered everything fresh. Soda machine was broken but was supplying the soundtrak with a loud electrical hum. After about 8 minutes, the food was ready. It was hot, fresh & the soda didnt taste funny. Despite the lack of atmosphere, I found nothing wrong my visit & opposite of what a lot of people are complaining about in other posts, which sermed to be mostly drive thru complaints. Get out & come inside. Maybe I just cane on a good day?

    The Impossible Whopper
    Mark K.

On a road trip and passing through this quiet little town, and needed just a quick bite for an early dinner before game 5 of The Series. Checked out a few dining options nearby, but they were either packed or too "not my mood" and so I decided it was about time I put this "Impossible Whopper" to the test, just like the TV commercial. I've had many Impossible Burgers in the past few years, from amazing "beta" burgers in SF to the now becoming common and available pre-formed burgers that any chain can use. Mind you, the ad on the TV shows it juicy and dripping, just off the grill - well, let's see how far truth in advertising holds up. This location is on a corner, in a sparse commercial area - vineyard on one side, motels, restaurants and gas stations as neighbors. It's a boxy building, next door to a parking lot and with a drive-thru on the far side. The outdoor seating is not too inviting, and the umbrellas have certainly seen better days. Inside is a large, open (almost too utilitarian) dining area, with counter and self-serve beverage bar on one end. The area is well lit with lots of windows - through which I watched my motel as I ate - and was clean, if quiet with less than a few people dining in on a Sunday afternoon about 5pm. The drive-thru was hopping, as they say, though, and the cook staff was definitely earning their money. I placed my order with a gentleman I took to be the team leader/manager, and he was friendly and efficient, even reminding me through a question that "yes! I would like to add cheese to the burger" - I likely would have forgotten, so that was appreciated. I got my receipt and stepped aside to wait. During this time I watched the crew at work. They were busy, but focused and the communication among them form the window server to the counter to the cook/assembly staff was amazing! They were checking on the status of various foods, reminding others of a pending large order of this or that, and when the cashier (not the one who helped me) had an issue on the register with an order, the gentleman who helped me went over and walked him through it, with patience and efficiency. I don't always see these dynamics, usually because there are too many customers, too much noise or whatever, but I really could see this crew tonight and I was impressed. My order arrived, and although it was for "eat in" it arrived in a bag. Oh well, if that's the WORSE thing that happens to me today, I'm happy. And there were plenty of ketchup packets - cha ching! I took the bag and sat at a table, and opened it up. There were too many fries to fit in the cardboard carton, and they layered the bottom of the bad. I needed that extra ketchup! And I looked at the receipt and realized the gentleman who took my order had doubled my cheese order to "HEAVY cheese"! He can see my soul . . . LOL. I unwrapped the Impossible Whopper, and it looked rather plain. But definitely looked like a burger of meat, if you didn't know better. Then the bite - oh myyyyy. The taste was surprisingly good, and if you again did not know about the burger you were holding, you would NOT know it was not meat - try it and tell me your thoughts. The patty wasn't juicy drippy, like the ad, so no truth there. But the taste was great, and the burger was much juicier than most Impossible burgers I've had. The Counter, in comparison, has a great Impossible burger as well, but for the price between the two, the Impossible Whopper is delicious, affordable and readily available now. That means a lot to me, especially when traveling or in an unfamiliar city and trying to find a good Impossible burger. The fries, as a side note, were hot and crispy - perfect for fast food fries. All together, I give this location and this crew and this meal a solid 4-stars. It was indeed what I had hoped for, and in honesty, was more than I expected after seeing the outside and wondering into what I had gotten myself. So if you're in Delano, or feel like dipping off 99 for a quick meal and stretch, look no further - hopefully you'll be a fan, too.

*HORRIBLE* I waited 40 minutes to a get 2 meals. At first I was like "maybe they are short on staff" but it was only 4 cars waiting. There is no reason we should've waited 40 minutes & on top of that my nuggets were hard and my sprite was yellow!!!!! HORRIBLE SERVICE

The food was good, no complaints there. This location needs to focus on presentation. When we arrived there were three customers so they were not busy. A lot of the tables were dirty and the floors were all so sticky. The windows were super dirty and dusty so that for sure has been a while since it had been clean.

I dont like leaving bad reviews but this is the most inconsistent place I've ever got food and…read moreprobably ranks as the worse food places I've ordered from. Ordered this today for delivery. Spent $40+ on some garbage. Sorry to say but this was truly garbage. Fried mushrooms come with a baby amount for 5.99. Zucchini is $1.20 each im guessing since I only got 5 pieces that are small. Burrito is literally a hard burnt overly cooked tortilla. And the best thing here is the jalapeño poppers because its most likely store bought. The oil used was the same oil they fry everything and it is probably a month old oil. I ordered this right before lunch time today. Milk shake was also horrible, think they used 1 scoop of ice cream and the rest was mostly milk. This place should be ashamed of themselves. Very poor quality food and probably should be closed down. I rank this place a 0/10. Nothing was decent about this place and its the 2nd time I've ordered from her.

I was craving a nice greasy drive-in burger with a side of fried mushrooms. The burger was good, just like I remember it being. But the side of mushrooms only came with 7 for a price of $5. Not worth it, in my opinion. I paid $14 for my meal without a drink. Will I come back? Sure, if I want to reminisce about my childhood growing up in Delano without a price tag. Maybe I'll give Elmers a visit next time.
