My hot dog came with a grilled bun, fresh beef hot dog, crispy onions and his own special sauce. And if that isn't enough and you're looking for dessert he makes homemade donuts as well. The location alongside the port building made it a convenient and easy stop as we made our way back to the boat. For $8 we had a dozen mini donuts that were fresh, fluffy and topped with whipped cream and blueberry compote. The owner was friendly and even gave our son a fun little sticker from the shop.

(Hires Root Beer is only sold in limited areas in the US, and is in competition with A&W Root Beer which comes from the same bottling plant...sad really) However, I went with a root beer float anyway (Dad's root beer, if I recall) and sat out on one of the park benches overlooking the water, enjoying the view. Thirdly, they know how to properly make a blizzard. They don't overgrind the toppings so that you end up with a chocolatey ice cream mess. They mix it properly so you get vanilla ice cream with distinct toppings you can taste. Burgers are always cooked to perfection. They are the benchmark for which all other DQs should be measured against and eventually live up to.
