This locals stop is price driven. Ordered a cheeseburger, chili dog with cheese, fries, and strawberry shake. The burger started off wax paper pressed uniformly and put into a conveyor chain to cook. Ended up similar to McD cheeseburger except a nice piece of raw onion. The dogs had a slightly spicy and thick chilli and some liquid cheese. They were better than the burger. I love this place so I'm glad it's out of the way and I don't get to go everyday because I certainly would! I got a cheeseburger, fries and a drink for 5.74 and it was hot and fresh. They definitely give you a generous serving of French fries which are always good and hot! The food is consistent in taste every time I've gone. It's cash only so make sure you have it when you go. The lady at the counter taking orders was more then friendly and the wait time to put up my order was next to nothing. Staff is generally unpleasant and some of them act like waiting on customers is the end of the world. Cash only is fine - if you are able to run a cash only business properly. Have had to argue with staff multiple times about getting the correct change (you have to request your receipt if you want it - and they won't give the receipt until you get your order - if they even remember to do that). The change machine doesn't dispense the right amount of coins and when you ask for the correct change they get an attitude about it. I only say maybe because it's nothing exceptional. It is a really cool old school mom and Pop diner. It's cash only, and the food was good. It's just more on the generic side. After living in Lexington for years I finally stopped by the Burger Shake joint to see what they offered. It's cash only and a throw back to the old school burger days! These burgers were great and not dripping with grease which my stomach greatly appreciated. We also got chocolate shakes and french fries. Everything was at a great price and delicious. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend this but please don't forget that it is a CASH ONLY place. You get a lot of food for the price and it's all delicious. Understand that this is an inexpensive little dive that really just has hamburgers and hotdogs mainly. It's not in the best neighborhood, but we picked up a to-go order (there was no dine-in available yet due to Covid-19.) Between the 3 of us, we had a chili dog, hot dogs, a cheeseburger, fries, and a chocolate shake. It was VERY cheap, $13.00 for all of us to eat. That being said, it was pretty good. The patties and hotdogs seem as if they may be steamed. So, if you like a tender hotdog or hamburger patty, this is a place for you. The staff were friendly and helpful while we ordered. Burger Shake is a simple, no-frills burger place that has clearly been here for while. The small size and the age of the building adds to its charm. I had a burger, fries, and a strawberry milkshake. My husband had a chocolate milkshake and a food (I forget what he ordered). Husband and I both hate mustard so we were a bit surprised to discover the burgers had only mustard (and onions) on it, no ketchup at all. Had we known that, we would've been specific about skipping the mustard. Otherwise, no biggie. Perfect size burger, perfect size fries, perfect size milkshake. GREAT price. You don't find a lot of places like this anymore. Just two things: during the winter, be prepared to leave your coat on while you eat. The dining area was quite chilly. Not sure if it was the lack of heat or the fact that the entire area is surrounded by windows. Also, it doesn't seem like the cleanest building to eat in, but that's probably due to age. That changed today when my stomach lunch clock chimed alarms just as I was driving by the place. I didn't go overboard, ordered a regular burger and small fries. The food was fast, service was friendly, and I ate in the car. How was it? The fries were perfect. Perfect crispness, not too salty, the fry oil was super clean as there was nothing but clean fried tater taste. The burger was simple by design. Then to the right there's a small lackluster seating area with 10-15 tables tops. Single stall restrooms are at the back. The burgers were small square patties, similar to Wendy's, but better. The small fry is a perfect size for a single order. They're thick and salted just enough that me, an avid ketchup fry dunker, ate half of them sans ketchup! These people are awesome, willing to stay open just a few minutes longer to make sure we got our order. I grew up with these hamburgers, and they are just simply delicious. I tried to have one every time I come through this town and today I thought I'd miss out having missed closing time but they made sure they stuck around so we could have these fantastic burgers. Growing up in Lexington I would drive by this place occasionally and feel like I was seeing a restaurant stuck in time. Up until a few years ago the sign said Burger Shake 79 cents. Now it's 99 cents. I started a new job half a year ago and I now pass this place everyday. Curiosity won out last night and I stopped in for a cheeseburger, small fries, and large coke for just over $4.00. The restaurant looks like it has remained unchanged inside and out for at least 30 years, and not in a cute Parkette Drive In kind of way! This isn't the type of place where you would take a girl on a first date (unless she has specifically told you that she wants to experience an authentic Lexington dive), but it's a great place to go with friends and family. Burger Shake beats other fast food restaurants in the area hands down. As one reviewer has already mentioned, it tastes a lot like In and Out Burger. Their fries are the same thin style you find at I&O and the ingredients tasted fresh. So this is an update; although, it will not allow me to update. Today, is a Monday, and that meant that Chase Bank's lobby opened up again. I was able to get $10 in cash and finally, was able to get a chili dog, double cheese, large fries, and a large vanilla shake from this place. For this it gets a good standing because value for food, under $10, awesome! From what my thoughts originally were: the place looked like a mom and pop shop and cash only. Suspense was killing me that this place, like all other comparable places introduced on Food Paradise (this one not), would be out of this world. I went in, quickly ordered my food and the service was indeed very quick. I waited about 5 minutes. After getting the food, I had taken one bite of each (still eating while I write this) and found the burger kind of tasted like it was made on a candle, still good though because of the pickle and onions. I am thinking it was the wax paper they wrapped it in (no I did not eat it with the wax paper on. I saw the wax paper and I had taken it off -_-). Additionally, there was a lot of chuck (tendons, hard chewy pieces that are found usually in low grade meat). Some other review said it was like In N Out...no not really! Do I need to calibrate your tongue? The chili dog tasted all right, but I like my chili a little bit runnier. Kind of like on Hardee's chili dogs. Then again, I saw them pull it out of a microwave and that is probably what dried it out. Lastly, my shake and fries were great. Only problem was, the woman who made it yelled "THE SHAKE IS COMING OUT FUNNY! O_o For this I give it a minus one star. I am afraid that this may not be the best way the shake could have potentially come out. I mean it tastes fine, but why make me so anxious?
