They seemed VERY confused by me calling them to order takeout, but they got the order right and I was able to pick up food quickly (I had seen a drive-up window online, but couldn't find it). The burger was fresh and well made, and the sweet potato fries were excellent. The space is... bleak. Like, I'm not picky, but I was glad I was leaving. With a name like Bad Wolf, they could do a great Doctor Who theme or even something fun-weird with fairy tales, but it looks like the most boring dive bar ever instead. Stopped for lunch today on the way back to our Airbnb. Fast and friendly service, excellent fries and burgers. I had a classic hamburger and it was exactly what you want in a traditional burger, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. Friends had the Gouda with grilled onions and mushrooms and the teriyaki burger with grilled pineapple and both were great. Cute decor with repurposed church pews at the bigger tables. We came to eat here on our first night in Lexington. When walking in I instantly felt the excitement of being in a new city and about to eat the "best burger in Lexington" get sucked out of me. The atmosphere is so very depressing. It's a mix between a dusty-ass VFW bar going out of business and grandma's basement. You're not in a basement but it feels like you are. While I was still optimistic that this just may be a crappy location with amazing food- That's where things got worse. No alcohol. Hmmmm you're a restaurant open for dinner that decided not to even have a cooler of canned beer? Weird and disappointing choice. The worst part about this place is the food- believe it or not. I specifically asked if I could choose the temp of my burger. She said the default was medium-rare but that we could choose. I said "great, I wanted it medium-rare". My med-rare cheese burger came out without cheese. Annoying- but I ordered tots too so I figured I'd eat the tots while i waited for the burger to be either remade or the cheese melted onto it. I brought my basket up and asked for another basket to dump the tots into so I could eat them while they fixed their mistake- and instead she hands me an ice cold piece of cheese. Not a good start. Then I bit into my medium rare burger. The meat was practically dust it was so dry and overcooked. It was completely cooked through the entire burger even in the dead center of the burger. They make ONE thing..... burgers. I should have mentioned there was one other table eating while we were there. They were not busy. I apparently ordered their standard item. They should be banging out medium rare patties all day. They should be embarrassed at how the burger was cooked and served to me. What a great find this place ended up being. Before we even ordered, other patrons were raving about how good everything on the menu was! I listen to the locals bc they just know .... most times. Ok, so this is a husband and wife owned & operated business. The husband was extremely nice and even offered a photo suggestion while I was photographing my food to post for you all. That was cool! There were several options I was torn between but I kept it simple by ordering a hamburger and a side of fries. My thought was the hamburger would be a true test of whether or not the burger was any good. Guess what ? The burger was amazing from start to finish! The beef was a good grade and was so extremely flavorful. Fresh ingredients -lettuce , tomato (kinda on the small side, onions and pickles. All between a beautiful bun , lightly toasted. Sadly , they left off my mustard I requested - burger was still perfection! I can't forget about the fries! I love fries and these earned my love right away! Hand cut and fresh out the grease! What's not to love. Amazing! Great portion size. The staff was patient with us "out of towners" and nice throughout the ordering process. Their menu was super easy to read with descriptions and prices. Although we didn't dine in , the inside was very warm and inviting - decorated nicely. There's a drive thru too. Visited here from out of town, did not know they had vegetarian options! I would've totally tried that. Didn't get to look at the menu right away, someone else ordered for my friend and I. The food was good but their hot sauce was my favorite part of dining! They didn't have staff serve us, just to drop off our food. Seemed more of a self serving type of place. Overall good experience! On our most recent annual visit to Lexington, we decided burgers should be on the agenda for one of our meals. I had bookmarked this location last year when deciding on restaurants. I chose the Barbeque Burger with bacon, aged cheddar cheese, spicy BBQ, fried onion straws; a side of Tater Tots with Beer Cheese (added for $1). My daughter went with the Cheeseburger with a Veggie Patty ($1 extra) and a side of fries. It took slightly longer than expected for the food to arrive. But with freshly prepared burgers a slight wait is ok but prepare accordingly if time is a concern. I had asked for the beer cheese on the side but it was liberally poured all over the tots. This was disappointing because I didn't care for it as much as other versions. The burger however was really good. My daughter liked her veggie burger and said it's taste was similar to veggie sticks that used to get at school. Overall we agreed would possibly return on future trips. read more

They've got their Pandemic precautions down, and have sit-down dining options available both indoors and out :-) Tip: We sat on their outdoor deck; it's really nice (when the weather is good) and just the ticket for maximize safety during the Pandemic. Indoor seating is also available and it appears to have correct social distancing, so I wouldn't hesitate to come back even if the weather at that time doesn't loan itself to outdoor seating. Here's the 411: - Cajun Burger When I brought the first bite of this awesome Bad Boy to my mouth, it smelled like a jambalaya and I could smell the Cajun rub on it. This place is a tough one. The burger wasn't necessarily bad. It's just that with all the burgers I've had, this one just didn't measure up. The restaurants around Red River Gorge were closed for the season and Lexington was the first city we came to. We needed food and burgers seemed like the fastest option. I wanted to love this place because of the Doctor Who side theme they have going. They even have a Tardis in the restaurant. The guy taking orders and the employee that brought our food were nice. No complaints there. The place was clean. They have plenty of pre-made options to choose from along with other options and creations that others have made. The choices are overwhelming in some ways. I decided to go with the Black and Bleu burger. That was probably half of my mistake but I wanted bleu cheese on this day. The house-made sauce tasted like a mix of Manwich and chili. It's not what I wanted or expected out of this burger. It also had lettuce on it. The problem was that the house-made sauce overpowered all the other tastes. I couldn't taste the bleu cheese at all(and there was a lot of it-check my photo). The lettuce and meat were tasteless. I'm not sure if the meat was tasteless because it really was or if it's because there was way too much sauce. The fries were a tasty break from that burger. They were the perfect amount of crispy. For two burgers, two fries, two drinks, and tip the price was around $27. The price makes it a step above fast food but a step below a fancy burger. These burgers are different and maybe sometime I'll be impressed when/if I make it back here. The problem is that nothing here wowed me. When I'm in Lexington again and want a burger, the probability of choosing Bad Wolf Burgers will be slim. Go ahead though. Give it a try. We stopped in after searching Yelp for a burger place in Lexington on our way back to Louisville from Red River Gorge. And as a Doctor Who fan, the name drew me in. The restaurant is at the front of a new-looking apartment complex. And, kind of like the Tardis, it seems like it is bigger on the inside! That is to say, there is more seating space than I expected there to be. It wasn't terribly busy, but it was good that we weren't entirely sure what we wanted to order because the gentleman working the order counter was on Facebook trying to choose a winner for a burger naming contest....but he was quite nice and friendly when he was ready to take our order. I opted for the signature Bad Wolf Burger. The food is decently priced, especially for the portions provided. The fries were delicious, seasoned wonderfully. But (and...*spoilers, sweetie*) the burger wasn't everything I hoped it would be. I loved the idea of house-made beer cheese on a burger, but the beer cheese was simply overpowering. It has a nice kick to it, but there was so much of it on the burger, it was the only part of it I could taste. It could have had half the amount of beer cheese and been better. We're in Lexington visiting family and this is a place they took us to. Nice decor and friendly vibe, very COVID compliant. Since we had a cranky 4 year old with us, it was nice to sit outside by ourselves. I had the Bad Wolf Burger...what a treat! Hand shaped pattie with bacon, smoked gouda, onion straws and a tangy mustard/balsamic sauce. So good! I only wish that it had had just a bit of pink to meat as it was slightly dry. WOW‼ How far we've fallen. Bad Wolf has gone from a mediocre location to a real sh!t one (if you can find it, ...which you won't casually driving by) It's now a real dump (location). The food is just okay (12oz burger patty is now two crummy, dry-arsed 6oz patties) at obnoxious prices (blame Biden for that one, perhaps?). No more free refills for TEA, depressing location and interior. The little kids running the register were cute and competent, but if you MUST employ pre-teens to help run things, then you're about to go out of business. You'd be better off turning Bad Wolf into a food-truck. The restaurant smelled of death,.... The death of a business. Would be miraculous if they're still in business at that location by 2025. Love the decor and ambience of this restaurant. Kinda new but yet it had many antiques scattered in the restaurant. The service was good, the cashier was very friendly and told us which part of the restaurant was warmer to sit. Our food came out fast and those burgers were pretty big! My BBQ burger was cooked well and it had a nice amount of fried onions on top and right amount of BBQ sauce. The onion rings were very crispy and I couldn't eat all of them. My husband said his burger was delicious as well. The portion size were big as we got 1/2lb burgers. We were able to eat half of our burgers and half of our sides and felt satiated. Yum! Got the bad wolf burger and pineapple teriyaki burger with tater tots and fries. Both burgers were delicious. Very large patties- you can choose from a 6oz vs 12oz. They have daily specials and options that aren't on the board if you don't see what you want. Their best sellers include the bad wolf burger, thorpe, and cajun burger. They have ample seating- one side is like a diner, one side is a dining area and there was an upstairs that I did not venture to. Definitely recommend the tater tots- they're crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. I reheated the fries is the air fryer to get that extra crunch, but also very good. Let's be honest. Local restaurants are sometimes overhyped. Just because you use local products and slap a Kentucky Proud sign on your door doesn't always make you better. You still have to make great, tasty, and unique choices. Guys and gals...this one ain't overhyped. Bad Wolf has arguably the best burgers in the city. We were here during Lexington Burger Week, and the line was out the door. The $5 promotional burger was the Awesome Burger. Guess what? It was awesome. The beef was mixed with chorizo, with just enough to give you a hint of it when you bit into it. It had pepper jack cheese and homemade pico de gallo slapped on top. One of the best inventions ever...up there with the jet engine. I split it with the wife and I still regret that decision. The kids got the cheeseburger. You'd think it was nothing special after the Awesome Burger, but you'd be wrong. It was awesome as well. Bad Wolf seasons their burgers to perfection. The buns are fantastic. They put fresh, high quality toppings on them. Bad Wolf doesn't over cook their burgers. They will if you ask them to, but they don't want to, because it is just plain wrong. If I never go anywhere else for a burger, I'd be ok with that. There might be a match for Bad Wolf, but I don't see there being a superior. read more
