Lindsey Killick-said I hadn't done blood in 2 years, was done 4 months prior-2 times in 2 sep. hosp. could request records-but insisted hadn't had done- using meds against me, refusing to refill till I had blood work done. I emailed her that day to ask for blood work orders to do again, instead refused to prescribe my med refills till blood was done, very irrational- unethical- unprofessional- and against the Oath that taken doctor to not harm patients- 2 months without my medications and continues to blacklist me with all P. Care doctors, not one will accept as patient. been through 3 P. Care doctors already- they gaslight me, refuse to fill my meds, once blacklisting is taken away, cancels it, saying It was a mistake. Terrible is what I say. Doctors don't know what they are doing and billing doesn't know how to use insurance, they actually think the patient should do their work for them. The best people of getting things done. My primary care physicians there really try to help you because they really listen to you. I've kept them no matter the insurance because of this. After being brushed of for just a few minutes with other practices. I appreciate how this practice gets to know you and even the nurses remember you! One day I said I'm tired and one nurse said take a little nap while you wait and I'll turn of the lights and ask the doctor to knock. No one does this at any practice they often than to move in/out patients. I'm taking this seriously- they have the best staff and omg their new office revamp hotel-gorgeous! read more

Burke Family Practice!! Yes!!! I saw Marium Usman today. She was right on time and listened patiently to my medical concerns. As always. She is so reassuring and thorough. She not only had recommendations for my care, BUT she actually let me speak about ways I may wish to deal with some issues. She really heard me!!! She has seen my husband and me for many years, but the whole office just seems so much better now in every way. The office staff at the front desk were so professional, helpful, and also very friendly. It felt very comfortable. There were a few glitches w/my lab papers, but the staff was courteous and worked everything out, while dealing with a waiting room full of people. Much appreciated! I expressed to Marium that I noticed major changes for the better. Plus the front office and waiting room was beautifully updated, and the designer did a fantastic job. I've been a patient at Burke Family Practice for over 30 years. I was heartbroken when nurse practitioner Andrea Bonanno left last year. She was my "doctor" for over 20 years -- and she was terrific. But I have now switched to Dr. Anthony Wu and, boy, is he fantastic. He's really smart, is up to date on new research, listens well and treats me like an educated consumer -- which I am. He's the best GP I've ever been to -- and I'm about to turn 72, so I've been to quite a few. You should give the practice and Dr. Wu a try! read more

Horrible office, staff, hard to get appointments. Providers are great, but everything else is absolutely atrocious. They evidently are under new management and are STILL bad. Like zero customer service skills, they will hang up on you, put you to voicemail or straight up put you on hold forever and will call you back days after leaving voicemails. I wanted to express the outstanding care i received at Burke Family Practice. I saw Marium Usman, FNP...she is an amazing and caring nurse. Her medical assistant Andrea was also so kind and caring. I had to have labs done so I had them done there. The woman Kierra that did the draw was exceptional. I have rolling veins and have had bad experiences before. SHE IS A+++ Marium is thorough in determining what steps to take in your care. She listens, suggests options. She is just in every way the kind of person you want to be involved with your overall health. I cant imagine not having that comfort with your caregiver. read more

It's not my job to dispute the reviews of other; all I can do is report my own experiences. And with BFP, 20-plus years of experiences have been very good. I was a patient of Dr. Anderson for most of that time, and I was very happy with his responsiveness and concern. When he left, I was switched to Andrea, a NP; she was an outstanding provider who really took time to listen. When she left, I was switched to Dr. Sanabria. My one visit with him was excellent, and he has been an outstanding provider for my wife. As far as the support staff goes, I haven't had problems, and most have been cooperative and pleasant over the years. I also appreciated their caution as the Covid pandemic raged. I'm sure it was not easy to alter longstanding procedures to ensure the safety of staff and patients, and I'm sure they got some grief from patients who disagreed. Been going to BFP for over 30 years. I just FIRED them. MEDICAL STAFF: The Doctors & Nurses are all good. Glenn Anderson was my Doctor. I've seen all of them at one point or another. They're good. THE PROBLEM: "Front Line" work in any Service Industry is difficult. Office Staff with Emotional Problems CRUMBLE under these pressures. DISGRUNTLED STAFF: Most of the Staff are nice BUT... There are a few who HATE their Jobs & HATE the Patients as well. They make Medical Decisions to LESSEN their work load. When you phone, you may be diagnosed by an unqualified person who hates your guts. They initiate the abuse FIRST, to get rid of patients. THE FAKE "ASSAULT": Patients received notice that there's been an "Assault" in the Office. Big Surprise. They are now an Armed Camp looking for any reason to shout "THREAT!" They blame the Patients. I've spoken to Glenn Anderson about this. (1.) How many people were Killed? Zero. (2.) How many people were Hospitalized? Zero. (3.) How many people were Injured? Zero It was just a LOUD ARGUMENT, caused by the Abusive Staff. They blame the Patients for the situation THEY created. It's Gaslighting. GLENN ANDERSON PHONE CALL: Glenn called me. We had a long conversation. He apologized several times. He knows he has problems. He really needs to fire a few people. The Office Manager has told me she "Agrees" with me. I live about 300 miles from Buke Family Practice, and I am surrounded by some of the top rated medical facilities in the country, but I refuse to switch providers. I will stay with Burke Family Practice as long as I am able. Everyone whom I have encountered in the almost 20 years that I have been a patient; especially the doctors, nurses, and nurse practitioners have been knowledgeable and more importantly caring and interested. The reason I left the area was to assist in the care of an elderly and sick relative, who was being "treated" at one of those medical institutions that is well know across the nation and the world. And I can tell you if they were more knowledgeable it was not reflected in the services they provided, because they showed very little concern and even less interest. I do not expect any doctor to be God and have all the answers to every question. I do expect Healthcare providers to care for their patients and to be able to trust that they are using their resources, knowledge and the rest, to their patients. If there were 6 stars I would gladly fill all three. read more

My husband and I have been a patient of Dr. Anderson for over twenty years at Burke Family Practice. We were under his excellent cares until he is no longer practice in the office. Fortunately we got Dr. Sanabria who became our primary care doctor. I met with him the first time when I had my annual exam recently. He was very thorough and patience. I felt bad that I asked so many questions, but he did take his time to answer and explained in detail. Their staffs are friendly and responsive. I left a review a while back and then made an appointment to get an asthma inhaler that I desperately needed. The office manager called me up, and angrily asked why I left a bad review, chastised me about it, like you would a child and told me she cancelled my appointment that was in an hour. Very rude, very unprofessional. I have been going here for 15 years but the past 7 or 8 has been seriously down hill. They dont care about your health, just your money. This practice refused to see my wife for symptoms she is having because they said they are a family practice and she has not come in for an appointment in three years. They seem to have a strange definition of what a family practice is, but if you cannot keep up with regular wellness visits every year, are completely healthy for a few years with no need to see them, and then you suddenly come down with a cold, you'll be kicked to the curb when you call for an appointment; at least that is what happened to us. read more

My wife and I have never had primary care providers that were more invested in our well-being than at Burke Family Practice. They diligently review our file before visits, listen patiently and attentively during visits, and are very observant of symptoms that we may not have noticed. A staff member always calls us to discuss lab results, whether good or bad, and questions left in the portal or on voicemail are responded to promptly. If this is your current physician's office and you think you are getting the same care you received years ago, you are wrong. Burke Family Practice is now run by Privia. It's a very different doctors office. First of all, you'll never get to see a doctor because there are only a few left. Everyone else is a Nurse Practioner. I actually don't have an issue with the Nurses. The office administration staff and their policies are nothing short of disturbing. They run a heavy fisted system of revenue/profit first and patients a far second. Take my advice (and the other Yelp'ers). Burke Family Practice is not the place for someone looking for a trusted, ethical medical practice. read more

Well, I should have expected this level service. I sent a request for prior records, to submit to the VA. They' asked me fill out a release which I did and dropped off to them almost 2 weeks ago. Nothing, when I tried calling twice I sat on purgatory hold for 15 plus minutes. I have now filed a formal complaint to the Virginia Dept of Health Professions. The Medical profession has no right to punish clients for complaining of their service. Trying fixing the problem instead. read more

They asked my daughter who was there for follow up for congestive heart failure & in need of a primary care Dr. After waiting 2 months to get in,because she coughed. Instead of putting her in an exam room & reading her medical history they asked her to leave. Took her temp,so they knew it wasn't Covid. They just don't care. So once again in search of a primary Dr to take care of her congestive heart failure. I wouldn't trust these people with my pet. read more

I was seen for a pre op check up. I like the way Margie was professional and kind. She listened to all my questions and answered all and made a few pertinent suggestions. My only issue is the bathrooms. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on interactive TVs in each exam room, how about making the outdated bathrooms accessible with taller toilets and bars/handles for the walls. Hopefully this will be addressed before any future visits. read more

It's takes a lot for me to write a bad review I would give zero stars if I could but the only saving grace is Mariam Usman who has been good with my son for routine visits, etc. Months ago my son was sick and was seen a few times for deep coughing, congestion, etc. We were constantly told the same thing "give zarbees, suck out the snot" Obviously non of this was working which is why we kept going back to see if it was something other than a common cold. My son is prone for respiratory problems being asthmatic. We ended up going to an actual pediatrician for a second opinion and also a pulmonologist who said he had an upper respiratory infection which then we were prescribed antibiotics and that solved that issue. I had signed a medical record release form for Burke family practice to send to the pediatrician who later on finally requested his records I get a rude phone call that the office manager asked a receptionist to contact me accusing me of jumping around practices and basically saying they're going to hold my sons records hostage and they don't allow jumping around (he had a 30m routine check scheduled for today). I asked the receptionist to let me speak with the office manager so I can explain WHY we went elsewhere that ONE time MONTHS ago. Misdiagnosing my son was why we went to someone else and a specialist. Conveniently the manager was "busy" after I was on hold. So I explained to the receptionist the situation. After thinking about that call and going to the appointment today we are definitely now permanently moving to the other medical office who are a lot more kind. It's a shame you're willing to lose clients over medical records that were approved by the patients mother to get sent elsewhere. The office manager needs to learn some customer service skills and if she had an issue she should be the one to confront the patient or patients parent. Not have a poor receptionist be the middle man. Also everyone up front always looks so sad. Maybe you need a new manager. Nurses and doctors are nice though. read more

I am shocked to see the low rating for BFP and want to share my experience. I have been going to Burke Family Practice for about five years and I have had great experiences every time. I no longer live in that area, but gladly drive 20 minutes to see the. I usually see Dr. Ostrowski and she is very friendly, kind and knowledgeable. I have also seen the nurse practitioner, Andrea Bonnano a few times as well and she is just as great! I have never had to wait longer than ten minutes to get see a nurse and doctor. They have accommodated me on several urgent appointments as well. read more

I can now appreciate why Burke Family Practice is getting such bad reviews on Yelp. A shame too, because when I have actually gotten through to the medical staff, they have been great. I have been seeing Dr. Moles over the past few years and wish I still could. Katie Flaugh, a Nurse Practitioner was great in treating a severe inner ear infection. The Lab is friendly as well. Got a call from BFP last week reminding me my annual physical was due. When I called back to schedule, they told me the first available appointment was in September! This is the second time they have failed me. I fractured a collarbone in 2018 and needed a pre-surgery physical. Had bone shards poking against my skin, was in extreme pain and needed urgent surgery. The receptionist told me the soonest possible appointment was 3 weeks hence! It seems like the front office reception and Previa Medical Group is encouraging me to go elsewhere, which it looks like I will have to do. read more

Please note: This review is of Dr Cheryl Ostrowski and the front desk staff. I have not met any of the other doctors at this practice. I went here the first time because they offer same-day appointments. I was shown to Dr Cheryl Ostrowski, promptly. I told her that my temperature was 4 degrees higher than normal, with my normal being about 96.5. She was very dismissive that I knew my own regular temperature. She then asked me if I'd had a regular check-up that year and I told her that I get an annual physical for work. She told me that that wasn't good enough and that I "probably had diabetes." I was taken aback but I politely explained to her that my annual physical checks for diabetes. She argued with me that it did not. For the record, I would not be allowed to perform my job if I needed insulin injections, so, yes, they absolutely do test for diabetes as part of my annual physical, not that any of that had a single thing to do with why I was at the doctor's office that day. Dr Ostrowski then prescribed me some medicine for my fever and throat and asked me which pharmacy I'd like the prescriptions sent to. I couldn't remember, off the top of my head, which drugstore in Burke I wanted to use so she told me just to tell the front desk staff when I checked out. No problem. I looked up which drugstore I needed and told the front desk as I was leaving. My husband and I proceeded on to the pharmacy, where I asked if the prescriptions had been sent in yet. They had not. I called Burke Family Practice and asked them to please send along the prescriptions. They said they would. I checked back in with the pharmacist about 20 minutes later to see how things were going and was told they had received no prescriptions for me. I called the office again and asked them to please send along the prescriptions. I was told that the woman who normally does that was now on lunch. Keep in mind that, during all of this, I'm burning up with fever and I've got other, visible, symptoms. I said that I needed someone to send them right now. They said they'd do that. I checked in with the pharmacist again after another 20 minutes or so. They still had not received my prescriptions. I called the doctor's office again and demanded that they send the prescriptions while I was on the phone. The person who answered was relaying what I was saying to the woman who was supposed to be sending the prescriptions and I could hear her in the background complaining about how busy she was and that I should just trust that she would send them. Nope, don't trust you, sorry. Not at this point. The woman on the phone with me sounded somewhat amused, as though she and the other woman don't get along and she was enjoying watching her get angry. I finally got them to send the prescriptions during that phone call and got my medicine after an hour and a half. I went back to this practice some time later, hoping that there'd been some staff turnover or improvement. I asked to see a different doctor and was told that I had to see Dr Ostrowski. While she wasn't as argumentative on that second visit, she was still openly dismissive to the point that she wouldn't even open her eyes when speaking to me. Due to what happened the previous time, I asked the doctor for paper prescriptions. Instead, she told me she would send them to the pharmacy, herself, which she did do. Thankfully, this minimised my interaction with the front desk staff, who still did not seem to have it together. Never again. read more

I have had some trouble getting immediate appointments for "emergency" situations and been "threatened" by the billing department when I had to go through a change in medical insurance. read more

I've been going here since I was a child, but at this point I plan on finding a new practice. I've had good experiences with all the doctors/NPs here, but their practices regarding refilling my prescription which I take daily is simply abhorrent. Supposedly my prescription requires that I come in for a visit every 3-6 months (not sure whether it's 3 or 6, as I get a difference answer every time). I don't receive any reminder or notice that I will need to go in for a followup, something that every other doctor's office I've ever been to does. Instead, when I go to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription, I get told that the doctor's office didn't send it. When I call the office to see what the problem is, I am told that I need to come in for a prescription check up. Usually there is no availability for several days, so I am routinely going without my prescription for several days and sometimes up to a week at a time, and I need my prescription daily in order to function. Whenever I have brought this to the attention of the reception staff, it is dismissed and I am told that I is my problem. I like the medical staff here, but the customer service for the administrative side is appalling. read more

My family and I have been BFP patients since 1999! The doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses and administrative staff are professional , courteous and helpful. They have great hours that extend from 7 am - 7 pm and on Saturdays so it is easy to find a convenient appointment time that works for me. They also work very hard to make same day appointments when you are sick and absolutely must get to the doctor that day. I love this practice and its great team of professionals! read more

Glenn Anderson, MD is the best physician I have dealt with in my 86 years. My wife and I have been going to BFP for 36 years. Dr Anderson has been our key guy. All specialists are told to send him reports of our conditions, treatments, their outcomes, and recommendations. I started withwent to Dr Anderson in 1982 for strange symptoms I was having. He immediately said it was probably hypothyroidism but he'd order blood tests to confirm. The next day he, himself, called and said it was what he thought, explained the condition to me and the treatment necessary. I still have that problem but it causes me no problems. I have now survived heart disease and COPD, and am looking toward my 90th year! With Dr Anderson's help, I believe I'll make it. But let me say also, BFP has grown to the point that it is difficult to find the right staffing to handle the patient load they have. Small problems with receptionists, appointment handlers, and the like should not send you elsewhere. Glenn Anderson MD, the other physicians, and by all means the Nurse Practitioners (i.e. those who actually provide treatment), are the best in the business. It is they you go to see! read more

I have been going to BFP since the 80's with a brief period with Kaiser. I returned looking forward to coming back to my old doctors. Something has happened in the past several years. You have to have a good reason for a 1/2 hour appointment which will be determined by the receptionist, otherwise you get an in/out 15 minutes. I haven't seen a doctor in years, I'm always placed with a nurse practitioner. One good thing I can say is the new front staff has improved. I have been sick since last week. Aches pains, nausea, problems breathing, cold chills, no temp etc. I went to see if I had the flu on Monday. My joint and muscle pain was overlooked but I did get an antibiotic to prevent pneumonia. When I asked about the joints, muscles, etc. The response was "oh, you have joint pain?" I received the flu test and it was negative. "Come back if you don't feel better." This appointment was with the urgent care nurse. It has now been 5 days and I don't feel any better than before. I tried to make an appointment today with a doctor as directed by the FEP nurse conversation I had and I was told there aren't any appointments and I should go to a minute clinic or an urgent care, seriously? I asked about Saturday and they said they don't make appointments for Saturday on Friday. I'm writing this review because I've been researching different doctors this morning and I've been reading those reviews. I've come to realize how important it is to write a review and be your own advocate. I've been disappointed on more than one occasion but I go back. Not anymore, I'm on an assembly line. This place barely does minimal medical care. In 5 years I have never seen Anderson or Moles its always a PA. All my issues were minor so thats fine but this is a PA training ground. In 3 years I have had a different PA and the last one is still on website but is long gone. New one not even on web site. There are incompetent when all you need is a prescription refill. If you call the desk to ask for help the admin answers and always and I mean always transfers you to a voicemail box. They say they will call back but I think so far its been at best 50% call box. Find a different clinic if your really sick. This is just a heavy insurance pass through of low end issues. read more

I booked a yearly check up with them and there was a mix up with the days so i called to ask about it and they informed me that I missed the date and would be charged $50. It was a genuine misunderstanding and I explained this to them (they didn't send me a text notice) but they seemed uninterested. I told them I would happily pay the $50, but that neither my wife (who has been going to them for many years) or I would be returning and to contact me once the person discussed it with their manager and I have heard nothing back. I recently saw Taylor Trenner, FNP for an urgent care issue. She was able to see me that day. Her care was spot on and her bedside manner lovely. The front desk service was friendly and efficient, and I was able to make my appointment easily. Three generations of my family and I have been going to Burke Family Practice for 10 years. They have always provided thoughtful, thorough care to all of us in a professional and compassionate manner. If you are looking for a true family practice that puts patient before anything else - Burke Family Practice is the real thing. I received exellent care from this team when coping with my postpartum depression. Alice Karr was so compassionate and encouraging. I was afraid to get help, and terrified that I would be brushed off and be told to suck it up (it has happened before) but with this practice I received the care that I truely needed, and I am so thankful. My family has returned several times to this practice for everything from lacerations to the flu and have always gotten an appointment for same day care. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone, as every nurse, NP and dr I have seen have been great. read more

I genuinely wish I had read the reviews for this practice before attempting to schedule (keyword: attempting) with them. My husband was all of 7 minutes late and I had called them to advise of his late arrival due to unavoidable traffic. In any case, they turned him away and we rescheduled for 2 weeks later. Apparently, my husband and I are both illiterate as we have separate calendars that both read for a different date then they had scheduled. I spoke to the office manager and she had little regard for what I had to say or any empathy pertaining to the matter at all. She told me we should've asked to speak to someone the day he was turned away because she "was not there". In any case, while I sat and waited for nearly an hour to be seen for my own appointment, I decided to cancel my appointment and find a doctor's​ office that actually functions. If you're considering this place for your healthcare needs, do yourself a favor and just don't. I came to this family practice while visiting my in laws. The doctors and front staff all seem very nice and welcoming. However the office talk was not palatable to my mouth. I used the restroom while my father in law waited for his name to be called. Whilst using the bathroom I overheard very disturbing comments through the little window where urine is placed (the walls are thin). A discussion on a persons ethnicity was being discussed. At one point in time I heard "she probably came from Mexico and hopped the fence on the border" and then there was laughter.... I was absolutely sickened. I had to go out of the office and catch my breath outside. How racially biased do you have to be to assume that if someone is from Mexico they came over illegally. Am I disheartened and sick and what I heard today. I will not be stepping foot in this office again. read more

I've received an eye roll from one of the girls who works at the front desk when she told me I had an outstanding bill, which turned out to be wrong. One of the NP that I saw offered me antibiotics and I told her that I was already taking another one for something else and asked her "wouldn't that be bad for my health to take so many antibiotics?" She replied "I don't care. It's up to you" while shrugging her shoulders. I had been a patient at this practice for over 3 years. Each time, I went it got worse but that last visit with the NP was the last straw. I do care about my health and so I took my business elsewhere. read more
