Absolutely disgusting and most unbelievably ridiculous service I've ever come across and I will make sure this store is reviewed and inspected. Be wary of what you order from Burlington BBQ.
I called up Burlington BBQ at about 2:30pm on the 13th of the 12th, 2013 to place an order on a whole peking duck. I told the owner (male) who apparently has taken over the business from his dad, that I will be about 45minutes - 1 hour as I was coming from the Northside through peak our traffic. He replied with an, "ok, i'll put your order aside for you".
I arrived an hour later and paid for parking in the Valley Wilson car park and made my way down to Burlington BBQ. I was met (not served) by an Asian women who was eating out of a take away container. I told her I was here to pick up an order under (name) and she said they had no more duck left. I told her I made an order and would be here to pick it up. She said there was no such order so as I complained about traveling all the way from the northside and that her manner of service was unacceptable, she told me to leave. By this point I had noticed the order receipt hanging up on the counter with my name clearly printed on it. I pointed this out to her and she responded with, "well I was hungry and I ate it". I'm assuming what she was eating when I arrived was the duck i had ordered and again told me to leave.
A man (apparently her son and whom I'd made the order with) came out after hearing all the commotion. I told him my name and pointed to the order receipt on the counter. He looked at his mum then questioned her on the order before abusing her. The mother picked up the container she was eating from and gave it to me. There were leftover bits of duck and bones she had eaten, still in the container. This was beyond disgusting and can't believe what I was seeing to which I responded with a push of the container away from me, out of sheer shock, resulting in chopped ducked falling out of the container. To make matters worse, she now told me I had to pay for it.
There's was no reasoning at this point so I threaten to take the matter further. The son apologized and gave me $10 for parking, only after I said he had to pay for it as I had travelled a fair way for such a disgusting behaviour.
I'm still in absolute shock and will take this further but be weary when buying from Burlington BBQ. They are absolutely disgusting, have no concern for customer service or cleanliness and hygiene. read more
