I just moved here from Las Vegas, and I don't understand what's going on at Burlington Coat Factory on 125th Street. I went there to shop, and as soon as I walked onto the floor, security started following me. Being followed around ruined my entire shopping experience. Every time I go there, it feels very uncomfortable to shop. They have police at the entrance and security harassing Black men as they try to shop. Burlington Coat Factory is a terrible place for a Black man to shop because they racially profile you as a criminal. It's located in a Black community, yet it targets Black men while they're simply trying to shop. It does not feel safe shopping there. You're treated as guilty before you're even seen as a customer. This is a rather large store and it looks pretty clean and organized and it looks like they have a lot of stuff on inventory. So I was about to spend some quality time in here however my bladder was acting up and they claimed restroom was not in working order. Management if you want people to spend time and money in your store make sure to have a restroom available. It's completely unacceptable and waste of time for your customers to go find a restroom that they can use. I went downstairs and asked Raymour and Flanigan if they knew of a public restroom and they were so kind to let me use theirs. Did I bother going back upstairs to Burlington? No. Why should I? What if I have to go to the bathroom again? I think it should be illegal for stores not to have restrooms available for their customers read more

The lp security is unprofessional, and needs custom security training. They're singling out people for theft and nothing was taken. And what you'd hear from them "well I stop you cuz you look suss!" But haven't nothing more to go on. read more

The management at this Burlington is absolutely disrespectful to the Harlem community. You compare the service here to other Burlington's in Manhattan and it is light years apart. They do not have anywhere near enough sales associates or staff to manage the long lines of harlem folk that continue to shop here despite the disrespect. What they do have is plenty of "loss prevention" specialists pushing around empty carts. However, when you need someone to obtain a bag (all of which are locked up by the way), good luck to ya! I will be boycotting this location, they will receive none of my dollars and I urge others to do the same. This is the place where you can find lot of cool stuff but they are so under the staff the line is end of the store and it will take 1,5 h to check out. We asked where is the manager they said it's here, I asked where is the cashiers since here is only 2 and line is sooo long they said they have no workers to put in cashier so if you don't like to wait you can just leave. So I wasted 1 h to shop around find what I like and the manager treating customers with no respect instead of being polite she told the customers to leave if we don't like the situation. I hate this store more than I can describe. Hire more people. I've tried coming here for years and 95% of the time I end up rage quitting in line bc I can't wait over 30 minutes to check out. The fact that it's been like this forever and they aren't hiring more ppl is insane. Now they've hired more security and gotten gates instead. I've never shoplifted in my life but the line makes me want to just bc I wanna go home 4 hours later and I'm still mad because I needed the stuff I wanted to buy and I wasted so much time here that tj maxx closed. I walked away from a 100$ cart and so did several other customers. You can afford to hire more employees because you're losing more than the extra salaries on the customers who leave. I'm confused on whether the store is going out of business because The shelves are empty and the employees are scarce. I visited this Burlington during the day at around 2p which seems to be a busy time for them. There were about 4/5 registers open but for some reason the line was still going so slow. Like I was standing in one spot for 10 mins so I just stepped off the line. They do have some nice stuff from what was left over. A lot of it was also further reduced from the original ticketed price which was cool. It's also a pretty big space just wished it was managed better. read more

This is by far the worst department store in the Harlem area , the lines are unbearable to wait in . There is only 2-3 registers open with up to 30 guests waiting . The store is a hoarders dream because it's items everywhere, clutter,clutter,and more clutter. This location always has a line that is unbearably long. Unfortunately it was the only place open and I needed something for a work event. It took forever to find something because the store is a mess. Once I found something I stood in line for over an hour to check out. It's almost 10:00pm and I have been in this store since 8:30pm. With all of these people in line only two registers opened but three people per door standing around for loss prevention. How about one person per door and put the rest on registers. read more

You may want to bring a book to read I'm not expecting a fancy experience when I visit these types of places. Normally, I visit to buy undershirts and underwear since the prices are on the low end of things. Be aware, that a lot of the items have been rummaged through so check all packages before purchasing. The line is always long so that's when having a book will come in handy. Outside of the general exchanges (I don't know why there isn't a separate line for that), you often have folks trying to haggle for a cheaper price. Look, if the item is damaged, then don't buy it!!! It's pretty simple. All in all, visit this place when you have a lot of time (and patience). read more

Came in to buy one thing and the line was wrapped around the whole checkout and into the accessories department as well with only two cashiers on register while the loss prevention associate was standing on the side talking to multiple other workers who weren't assisting any customers at checkout. I've waited on line for around 30 minutes and the shelves near the checkout have multiple bags of food ripped open and spilled out on the floor. read more

This used to be my go to store for men's suits, shoes, and womans costs. They actually had a Taylor measure and alter my husband's suits in store. Now it's a picked through DUMP, just like the Middletown, by store. Sooo sad. read more

Super long lines they have 14 registers with only 2-3 open.... The cashiers take super long to ring up customers. They don't call associates for back up which is super stupid not to do. They don't pick up their pace when they see the line is getting long. Please expect to wait 45min- 1hr on line. The wait was so ridiculous I decided to time how long each cashier takes to do a transaction which was approximately 4-5 minutes. ITS NOT JUST THE STAFF EITHER, costumers so not have their preferred payment out upon reaching register. This adds to the delay as well. They have staff who aren't coherent when it comes to logic and quick with how to make the line go a bit faster. I use to work as a cashier and would try to suggest tips yo make the line go by faster and more efficiently read more

I will never shop at this store ever again due to the rude customer service provider from the manager Juan. He clearly has no experience working in customer service and has made Burlington lose another customer! I purchased a suitcase that said it was a carry on but when I used it on vacation i had to check it in due to it being oversized. I had to pay an additional $80 to check it in (which was more than the suit case it self!) When I called into the store to see if anything can be done the manager Juan did not help at all. He was very rude, disrespectful and just outright cold! He even put the blame on both me and the manufacturer. Never apologized about the inconvenience it caused me or showed any empathy! This business will run out of business soon anyways. It's so sad that their employees are making it happen even faster for them. Again, I will never shop here again! So sad, this place had potential to be good but it choose to suck since they are on a bad environment. Went here to exchange items I revived as a gift to get a gift card. I was denied this privilege due to not having a gift receipt, which this store does not offer and a phone number attached to the purchase. However the policy states that a non receipt customer can show is and get store credit, which wanted. The cashier claims that this store doesn't not do that since people steal clothes and try to return them, basically trying to insinuate that I stole my clothes. Store Number 00843 Dear Burlington,  Unfortunely this is a formal complaint for discrimination and harassment that I have encountered while shopping at your store yesterday, and my request is that you investigate these allegations and take appropriate action to stop it or remedy it. The harasser was the plain clothes security that was working at the location right above this letter. The following are the events that I believe constitute harassment / discrimination:   On September 30 2019 at around 9:00pm the plain clothes security which was a woman with curly brown hair, she had a hat on and big headphones to her ear, followed me around the store all through out my shopping experience which makes me want to  take my money somewhere else, instead of being harassed.  While trying on shoes in the ladies section the woman described above made it obvious that she was watching me with every shoe I tried on and every aisle I was in, which did not make me shop with confidence it made me shop with humiliation. If this is how you treat your customers I am more than happy to go somewhere else, where they treat customers with dignity and respect.  There was another plain clothes security who was a woman very petite African American, short black hair who came by while I was trying on shoes. She looked in my bag and touched my personal belongings then acted like she was getting something around my bag. The woman did not ask for my consent while doing this which made me upset that I took my blue rainbow bag and moved it to the other side. There was no solid evidence that gave anyone the right to treat a customer this way.   I did not want to shop anymore and stood in line waiting to check out, the African American woman with the curly brown hair and the big headphones stood right next to me and was looking over at me as if I was trying to shoplift while standing in line. I asked the woman can I help her and she acted as if she didnt hear me and i asked again and stated why is she standing next to me and is she following me really necessary. The woman stated that she is watching me because it's a free country and then proceeded to pick up things around the aisle of where the line were. I stated to her that she is invading my space and the woman stated that she did not care and continued to pick up things.The humiliation that I encountered was absurd and if this continues it will hurt your business and is a bad reputation for your company. Once I got to the register I asked Kaevon the cashier who checked me out at the register for the manager on duty which he stated there was no manager at the time only his supervisor Juan. I looked online and there was no email for the corporate headquarters. read more

Came in to grab a quick gift for a last min house warming party. Had no idea what to get and it was an hour before closing. Staff was super helpful in household items however decided on a Great Wall decor with love quotes and a table center piece. I was also able to find some minor decor for my new office at work... I was very pleased with the service. Checkout was amazing. Tia was extremely considerate of me wanting items wrapped and packed certain way and even said "no worries that is what I am here for" when I apologized for being such a bother. Horrendous customer service and ridiculously long lines because cashiers are too busy chatting to actually check out customers. This wouldn't be a problem if they made an effort to talk and work simultaneously, but I was left waiting mid-transaction for nearly 10 minutes as my cashier stopped ringing me up to talk about personal matters with a friend. This store has great potential but needs development. Definitely needs a more attentive staff especially in the layaway area. That area is the slowest area I have ever experienced in any store. And there are usually very long lines at the cash registers. So although it might be interesting to browse the store and to see things you want to buy you have to be willing to invest a lot of your time just to pay for it. read more

The tall black guy in the fitting room was very rude yesterday, there was an item on the floor I asked a woman for the price of the jeans on the yellow rack who worked there the price she specifically told me to " ask the people at the register" I went down to ask the people at the register. They called the talk black guy from the fitting room this had to be around 2pm he was very rude with his approach saying " you guys didn't see this on the yellow rack" which was on the sales floor on top of the denim which was a purchasable item, as if it was my mistake and I was the stupid one. Why would the item be on the sales floor if it was marked down, also im a consumer how would I know what's for sale and what's not if it's on the floor. He was rude, he could have just put fixed the situation and sold the item instead of rudely pressing us. We walked out not purchasing anything not even suggested selling.
