My first foray to Costco was a Saturday afternoon in King of Prussia, PA. The place was packed. We bought a legendary $1.50 hot dog then left. When we returned a few days later, the store was relatively quiet, lines were short, and we did our business vowing to shop only on weekdays. I'd never been to an urban Costco. I was hoping (though not optimistic) that perhaps they accommodate city-dwellers with smaller containers of Kirkland detergent. Nope. Merchandise was the same as what I'm used to, which (other than that heavy thing of detergent) is good. Same-priced rotisserie chickens, same smoked salmon, same drug products. Same everything. The store is undoubtedly dingier than what I'm used to, but it's stocked, albeit with a little less than their suburban counterparts. What got me was check-out. Thursday late morning, the lines were nuts. Are they giving things away?! While I won't penalize a store for its popularity, I'm not sure I'll be back. With a teeny apartment, I can't buy or store much. Unless it's something I realllllly want, I'm not wasting time for four or five items behind scores of people with full carts. Really not a big fan of East River Plaza, but one thing you can say about Costco compared to BJ's... any day prefer Costco's fantastic, inflation fighter deal for the all beef 1/2 lb. Hot Dog and a fountain drink for $1.50 over BJ's Dunkin' Donuts stand!!! (BJ's should have kept their own concession!) Perhaps it was timing and/or its popularity, the service seemed slow even when ordering from the digital kiosk and the napkin dispenser needed refilling. Wow, what a madhouse!! To be fair, I did forget that it was Saturday. Ugh. I only needed OTC allergy meds, but didn't see self-checkout until it was too late. It's practically invisible on the far right side of the store. The line moved VERY, VERY slowly. It was made even worse by a customer who paid for a full cart with a very thick stack of cash, mostly ones from what I could see. The cashier counted it three times, then ANOTHER cashier came over and recounted it ANOTHER three times. Ugh. I was holding my purchases because I didn't need a cart for allergy meds. Tedious. The store was well-stocked and very, very, very crowded, probably because it was Saturday. I didn't take any time to explore whether things might be different from the Lone Tree Costco. I will say that I LOVE Costco. I ended up getting their version of Flo-Nase because it was about $25 cheaper. So far so good, allergies seem under control. Also bought some Zyrtec, the real stuff, and Costco's version of Claritin. For value, Costco remains unbeatable. read more

Since I earn rewards with my Costco Visa card, they sent me a gift card for $55 but it can only be redeemed in person in a warehouse. It won't work on Instacart or Costco.com two-day delivery. As a senior with walking issues, it's quite a trek to 116th street and coming home with heavy items by taxi would eat up most of that "reward." They make zero accommodations for seniors and people who can't easily visit the store. I tossed the reward card and am not renewing my membership (since 2002). One of the smaller Costcos I've been to, but they usually have the staples. It wasn't as chaotic as I expected it to be. It's located in a complex with several other stores. I usually take public transportation to get here, so can't comment on cost/ease of parking in the garage. Had pretty good experiences in the past but removing a star because they seriously downsized the self check-out stations. Now there's only 4 self check-out kiosks. Would recommend that they enforce an item limit just to keep the line moving. read more

I applaud Costco for maintaining general efficiencies. I've shopped them in multiple states. Overall, the dynamic is mostly laudable and rarely lackluster. Thankfully. Many different visits, however, I have purchased what should be outstanding cuts of beef; prime ends up performing like choice, choice like leather. I'm not impressed. The rare perfect performance doesn't cut it. Costco needs to review how they're sourcing their meats, cow-calf processes, what vendors are feeding cattle and critical finishing techniques. Good marbling has generally been non-existent. Note: this review covers my experiences with cuts of filet, ribeye and strip over the past five years to present. There is vast room for improvement. For me, no more prime or choice meat from Costco. When the flavor profile of ground bison or ground beef generally beats higher grade meat, well, I'm at a loss. This from someone who's spent plenty of time on ranches in multiple states with a significantly experienced, well-defined palate for beef. read more

I can count on one hand the positive experiences I've had there. But can count on 20 peoples hands the negative. I go to this location because not only is it within close range to my home but I enjoy buying in bulk since I meal prep. What is up with the workers here? Guess service is pretty nice but the cashiers and most of the people at the exit checking receipts have nasty attitudes. Won't even say hi back when you greet them or say bye when you say thank you have a nice day. Seriously? Completely mute? Costco is still a very favorite grocery warehouse for my family. I now call my daughter the Costco Kid! If she didn't help me in my old age I'd never be able to get all my favorite foods home. I'm a huge fan of the Kirkland brand products. I can't live without the nuts that are in huge bags for a reasonable price. I can't live with out the Peanut Butter that is organic and delicious. It has gone up in price but worth it for the size jar. The Almond Butter is a good deal for sure and is also good. I use self check out and get out of the store quickly. The place is huge.... Ok, so several issues with shopping at this Costco Location. First, parking can be an ordeal as you have to pay for parking in a shared garage with many other stores. It costs around $6 for a 2 hr shopping trip - makes sense since you're in Manhattan but the garage feels very tight and cramped. The staff working here are also rude and helpful sometimes, and I've had some pretty bad interactions. There's also a bunch of people loitering in the loading areas to try to help you with your stuff, trying to earn a quick buck through tips. While I appreciate their hustle, it gives me anxiety turning them down and telling them that I can handle my own stuff. Overall, I recommend going to a different Costco if you own a car and are willing to drive out of the city. There's going to be a much larger selection at the Costcos in New Jersey and Yonkers and you won't have to deal with all the hassle of shopping at this one. read more

Wow, my last review of this Costco was ten years ago. Happy anniversary! Anyway, still happy overall with this location. Good selection of product always and the people that work here are generally helpful. My one issue is the way they handle the checkout line. There's a self checkout, but it's unclear that it's only for a limited amount of items (10?). They need to put up a sign that makes this clear to everyone. Secondly, they used to have one long line that moved very quickly and then when you got to the front of the line you were directed to the next available register which makes sense. Now, they have a bunch of lines and if you get caught in the line with the slow cashier you are out of luck. I hope that management will re-evaluate the line system. read more

First time visiting that Costco location. First I could not bring myself to pay for parking to shop. So after 30 minutes I found street parking 2 blocks away, I was happy about that. This location has a different layout compared to other Costco stores. But I went there to buy fish, and it did not disappoint, loved the variety. Other stores does not carry a larger selection of fish. But I was also looking to see if they had carrot cake, but they did not, settled for the almond Danish. read more

I've been to a lot Costco's I am a loyal customer however I I only come here because I live nearby and don't drive anymore, it's a typical Costco pretty much the only thing I dislike is the people that work here they are not that nice. They are RUDE always have an attitude and unwelcoming they don't even greet so not Costco they even ignore the customers walking in and some need to fix their tone when they speak to the warehouse members. Metropolis took over the parking and almost doubled the rate. If they posted it before you drive in, I missed it, and then a group of people are just standing by the exit with a handheld machine & ask for your credit card. It felt very sketchy. My family and I usually visit this location on sundays. The only downside I have is parking cost $6 for 2 hours. And after that it goes up to 10 or 12 dollars. (Past the 2 hours) They have an amazing selection of snacks, poultry, and house hold items for a great deal. Everything is well organized. The check out is crazy.... I'm a new Costco member (got a Groupon for $40 that included 1 year membership, $40 voucher for online and $40 voucher for in store). I was supposed to get the vouchers by email within 2 weeks of joining but nothing ever arrived I contacted Costco customer service after waiting a few weeks and they helped me immediately and the vouchers arrived later that day. I've only been three times so far, and heard that this location is NUTS, but each time I've gone early afternoon on a weekday and the crowds have been fine and was only waiting in line to checkout for maybe 10mins. The only negative I have is that I'm in Inwood and this location makes transit a little tricky. First time I grabbed a car from one of the guys waiting outside. It was pretty cheap to drive uptown (only $12 but I tipped more) but going up Harlem river drive took sooo long. Second trip I tried biking home, which was fine except obviously only limited to what you can carry in your backpack. Third time I took metro north from 125th to Marble Hill station which was okay but again limited by what you can carry. Just wish this location was closer to the subway, then it would be perfect for people like me that don't have a car, or I could figure out a better way of getting home (any tips or suggestions appreciated!) read more

I think this would be a place you would come once a month to stock up on households supplies as everyone knows you can get items in bulk here at wholesale prices. Because of this, you can expect people in the Harlem area to flock over here to get their hands on these deals. Unfortunately, despite the convenient parking next to the store, parking costs money. Traffic is ridiculous so getting out takes forever. On top of all of this, dealing with a typical Costco customer is also a headache as they will block aisles with no regards to their surroundings. You say "excuse me", they give you the dirtiest look as if you're the one inconveniencing them. BUT I WON"T SHOP AT THIS COSTCO ANYMORE: Metropolis Technologies took over PARKING and it is an absolute nightmare. You have to download their app, provide your phone number so that they can text you a code to get out of the lot. Did that. They charged me $11.01 for nine hours even though I was only at Costco for one hour and ten minutes. That included a .99 service fee. But the code didn't work and i was stuck between two gates. No help for at least five minutes despite lots of people honking their horns. Others had the same experience. Got home to discover that Metropolis charged me another .99 cents which i am disputing. Fraud. Pure and Simple. There was a long line of people equally befuddled by this new system. All were told the same thing: in order to get out of the garage you HAD to download the app. An app that does not work. Argh. A NIGHTMARE! COSTCO, Target and the other stores need to deal with Metropolis or else they will lose ALOT of business especially during the holiday season. read more

This is about costco.com appliances. They charged my debit card twice - holding up thousands of dollars in my bank account. Nowhere on the website did it note that they would but a hold on my account AND then charge on top of it. The bank says it is up to Costco to lift the hold. Very disappointing Costco experience. I placed an order (for food needed before a big snowstorm) , choosing Costco over other options. At 5pm Costco sends out a text stating "the order is delayed until 7pm". At 7pm, they text the order is being filled. A few minutes later, they send a text saying it will be ready in 2 days. !!!??? Just FYI, during the pandemic I've tipped double & triple over standard amounts. That may sound a little crazy but when someone goes out of their way and does a great job, the tip should go up! Costco rescheduled my order for 2 days later / that's bs. Costco should checkout Whole Foods via Amazon and learn! That's a slick operation, although Maxdelivery is the best - for speed of delivery & their ability to keep track of inventory. Many Costco & Whole Foods orders offer "replacements" for out of stock items. The problem is, you only find out an item is out of stock AFTER handing over your money & the items are being shopped. The store is neat and organized. We're fans of their pizza. It may not be the best pizza out there but it's still quite tasty and reasonably priced ($9.95 for whole pizza). I would love this Costco but they don't carry a lot of items that I need. So, I can't go there as often as I'd like. They don't have the Doughnut Shop K cups we like, nor do they have the poppyseed kale salad (I know what you're thinking but trust, the dressing it comes with is heaven!) They do have high end handbags, Rolex and Movado watches and lots of clothing. Even if you're not in the market for this, it's fun to look. I'm waiting for them to start selling Loubs. You have to pay (at least) $6 to park in this lot, but there are several others stores in this shopping complex at which to run errands. They have lots of produce -organic and conventional, frozen food, dairy, eggs, etc. I highly recommend getting milk and eggs here. Bother are super cheap. read more
