The Doctors, Techs, Staff and Facilities are really top notch. I always feel comfortable bringing my animal in. Its a bit on the pricey side for veterinary care, but to me its worth it. Its kept clean and doesn't have that sterile veterinary hospital smell that most others have. I've had my puppies exams, spaying and emergency care here. For those that travel/move frequently or are worried about getting their pets information in an emergency, BVC subscribes to an on-line service where you can access all your pets visits, shots and future appointments 24-7.

We have been overjoyed with Jeter's reaction to his new groomer. He loves her and that is what counts. Over the 13 years we have Jeter he is not shy and if he does not like a groomer or kennel he let's us know. He'll simply stay in the car or fight every minute as soon as he sees a parking lot and building facade that he recognizes. He runs into Casey's and when we pick him up he is a happy camper and smells great. The cost is the same as every other groomer in the Farmington Valley. His nails always look great and I love seeing him proudly running around his Inviseble Fenced yard and strutting around to show off his cut to the neighborhood buds that pass by every day. In short I recommend her very highly

Our regular vet treated her for "colitis" but admitted that she did not know what else to do and referred us to a 24h clinic for further diagnosis and IV treatment Pearl was discharged from the clinic the next day with prescriptions for six different drugs, while her symptoms kept worsening. After one week of force-food and medications down her throat we decided to put her to sleep in the comfort of our home, which Dr.Krier offered to do. However, before proceeding with the euthanasia, Dr. Krier asked us the permission to examine the dog and to review her medical record. She took it upon herself to talk to the Emergency clinic doctor and discovered that although the clinic tested Pearl negative for Lyme disease, they had not tested her for Anaplasmosis, which is another, very similar, tick borne decease that affects older dogs. Dr Keil took another blood sample and called us the next day that her hunch was correct and the test was positive. Dr. Krier immediately gave Pearl a prescription for antibiotics and immediately showed a good response to the medication. Two weeks later our dog is eating , barking, licking our face and acting normal and out son has renamed Dr, Krier as "Dr. Miracle". She not only quickly and correctly diagnosed the dog 's symptoms, when other vets did not, but also treated us with compassion and provided incredible service. She has followed Pearl's recovery at every strep around the clock by phone and email even on Sunday! I never met such a caring , knowledgeable vet and I am so thankful that she gave our dog another breath of life ! Sadly, the same week that she saved our dog, she had to put her own to sleep but never let her sadness impact caring for other patients. I would recommend Dr. Krier to anybody looking for a compassionate, incredibly perceptive and experienced veterinarian who intuitively understands both animals and owners and can ressurect a dog on his death bed !

Pre-Script: Search HEAR Long Island on Reddit. I wish had…read more Original Post: I'm a person living with a disability, seeking a non-service companion to join my family with my aging service dog. HEAR was aware of this via my detailed application and references. I reached out to HEAR via PetFinder very interested in a pup, Relish, who appeared to be a good match with my family. I entered the adoption process, got all of my references confirmed, completed a virtual home visit, set a meet time, and was sent additional pics and videos of Relish after the visit--all validating Relish as a potential match. It was a very hopeful and exciting moment. However, in the same text I was informed I was approved for adoption from HEAR, I was also informed Relish was just adopted, within 18 hours of my confirmed meetup. Prior to this, I was not informed I was competing for the match. Had I advance notice, I might've made other arrangements, but I wasn't offered the opportunity or the warning. I've volunteered for and dealt with more than a dozen rescue agencies in my region as an advocate and supporter, as well as several others throughout my childhood. None of the agencies I've worked with have been less transparent than HEAR. No one wants to be in the position of visualizing a potential family member in their lives, and planning for that hopeful first meeting, only to have them cancelled from the equation less than 18 hours before the meet--removed with no notice of other variables.Instead, they sent pics of other dogs. I've requested my adoption application with HEAR be closed, as I would never recommend anyone who wishes to ethically enter a relationship with a rescue rely on HEAR for the availability of the hopeful companion, or transparency in general. Reply to HEAR's response to this post: HEAR says there were delays. HEAR says I'd rather garden?? These are absolute falsehoods. The timeline below is clear. All communications and appointments were honored. May 11, Kristie confirmed my May 10 application and requested documentation of my landlord's permission to have a second dog. May 12, I submitted that documentation. May 14, Kristie apologizes for *her* delay, and informs me she'll be reaching out to my three references. All references responded the same day, after I let them know to check their "unknown numbers" folder. Friday, May 15, at 7:28pm, a virtual home visit is requested by Kristie. I was already on my farmstead for the weekend--I detailed the farmstead in my application. I let Kristie know I was upstate, and offered to FaceTime from there or when I got back home. She said she'd wait. I proposed a meet time, but Kristie said it could happen whenever, to just text her when I'm home, that she'd be "around." I texted Monday, May 18 to make arrangements. We set it for the next day, May 19. The virtual visit happened with her partner, Sam, because Kristie was unavailable when I texted. During that meeting, an appointment was made to specifically meet Relish on May 23 at the HEAR event. Prior to the arranged meet date, I inquired of its flexibility because planting became a factor--planting is absolutely critical and 100% dependent on weather and climate. Sam responded that probably wouldn't work. So, I CONFIRMED the original meet time. I very clearly confirmed my motivation and intent to meet and spend time with this specific sweet boy, Relish. Still, he was adopted out from under me. NOT ONCE was I informed there were other applicants for him. Not once were any other factors or obstacles to adopting Relish mentioned. And not once did I miss any appointments or communications. I've dealt with much more honest and ethical agencies. It's HEAR's opaque practices that might hurt their ability to adopt, not this honest review. Post-Script: Sam even mentioned she didn't want to leave Relish alone at night with her dogs, because "god forbid something happen." Apparently, that was a legitimate risk as per Reddit. It's absolutely shocking that injury to fosters is still a risk they take.

I hired Nick in April of 2021 for my dog Finn, who was becoming increasingly aggressive and…read moredangerous. I was desperate to find someone to help us as nothing I had been doing was helping (including working with other trainers). After meeting Nick and speaking with several of his clients I decided to hire him. I chose the lifelong package which was $10,000 due to the severity of Finn's behaviors. This was not an easy decision as $10,000 is an INSANE amount of money, but Finn was only 2.5 years old, my best friend, and we had so many more years together. -Nick has a way with animals that is very calming. When Nick entered the house Finn's demeanor changed (for the better), almost like a switch went off and the Finn we knew was back. -During the decision process, Nick told me to choose anyone from his google reviews to speak with regarding their experience. He provided their number, and I gave them a call and was able to ask plenty of questions. -Nick does things in a very unorthodox way, but many things did work well for us. Keeping an open mind while working with Nick is a must. -The reviews that state Nick uses water and flicks it at dogs is very true, and it honestly worked great for Finn as it would snap him out of his intense moments and allow him to come back to himself. -One review stated Nick doesn't stay the full session length. I can't speak on this as I did the lifelong plan rather than paying per session. But, I never had an issue with shorter sessions as we based the length on Finn and what he needed that day. -His website emphasizes the use of "positive reinforcement" which is true. However, he also uses what I consider "negative reinforcement" such as water, nose tapping, collar corrections, and vocal corrections. I had no issue with this as I was NOT seeking a positive only dog trainer, but it is a bit misleading. -Nick was not great when being questioned. I wanted to understand why we were doing something and not just blindly follow. He tended to use excuses when I questioned him or state "this is how it is done". I often felt as though my questions were not fully answered or taken seriously. -Nick was often late to our sessions without any heads up, which I found extremely frustrating. However, when I made it clear I needed communication he was better at letting him know when he was running late. -I almost did not hire Nick based on his contact. My two main issues were: 1.No payment plan was available. I chose a plan which cost $10,000 and coming up with that money all upfront is extremely unrealistic for most people and is off putting. 2.There are no check-in periods or any way to hold Nick accountable. I would have appreciated every 2 months or so to have a scheduled session to sit down and go over our progress and struggles.. As the client I often did not feel seen and would have liked a formal "review" period as I was often met with excuses and denial when I brought up my issues/concerns. In the end things didn't go as we hoped with Finn, I will not go into detail regarding this as it is not relevant. Nick did not fail Finn in any way, Finn's issues were beyond anyone's help and in the end we had to do what was best for Finn himself and those around Finn as he became too dangerous. Overall, I don't regret hiring Nick as I was investing in Finn and how could I possibly regret trying all I could to save him? However, what does not sit well with me is that I invested $10,000 when we only worked together for 4 months (I didn't "spend" even half that amount in sessions), and I did not feel supported in the end. In fact, very much so the exact opposite, which is outrageous considering the circumstances.
