The staff is very nice, but I was not pleased with the care provided my dog. I'm sure they're fine with a normal dog, but my dog has special needs that I felt were not taken care of. Maybe the problem lies in their definition of a "walk" and mine. I asked that the daily 30 minute activity be a walk, which they charge $25.00 for. If my dog doesn't have at least one "walk" per day, his digestive system shuts down. I walk him 3 miles per day to keep him regular, but expected at least one walk, on leash, to minimize the affects on him. I also expected a stress response but when they sent me a picture of him on day 2, I knew he was in trouble. Joe, the GM, called me after I sent an email discussing my disappointment and we had a productive conversation, and I had decided not to do this review. But then Robin, the owner called, to justify that they did nothing wrong and actually tried to blame it on my dog. That changed it for me. I'm sure if you have a dog with no special needs that they are fine, but beware if you have a dog that isn't normal. Make sure you talk to Joe so he understands what you expect from the visit and you may have a better outcome than mine. read more

We are always happy to support a local family business. So we were excited to find a place close to home. I do find the prices to be on the high end. I found the drop off very transactional and not warm at all. This was our dog's first time every staying away from family or friends. I never saw any photos of him online just one the day before pick up. Due to timing we have to have a friend of our pick up our dog as we would not make it back in time from vacation that day. later that day he was not the same dog I dropped off. Who is normally very spirited and happy. He was lethargic, coughing, sneezing and had mucus discharge from his nose. He was also very dirty and parts of his coat had matted. We take him to the groomers monthly and I brush him at least once a week. I called the vet and they said to bring him in the next day. Which I did and was told that he definitely contracted something while at the resort. So he went on antibiotics for 14 days. In about 3-4 days he was feeling much better. I called and ended up speaking to the Joe the generla manager who was very nice and apologic. He said he would review the footage to see he he saw anything and told me that I could come in to view it as well. I thanked him but did not take him up on the offer. I pretty much wanted to inform him of our experience. Joe informed me that we were covered up to $500 for medical expenses which was great. I sent the receipt from the vet and in about a week and a half I had a check covering the cost. Thank you Joe for your help. It was truly appreciated. read more

This place promised us that our dog would be in a "doggie condo" but apparently that means a small create. When we picked our dog up two days later and brought him home he wasn't acting right. Looking at him closer he has sores on his mouth, elbow, and paws. He was acting totally traumatized. I got a call from the owner Robin today and she was really helpful. She was really receptive to my feedback. They have a lot of different package options and add-ons, but they don't have them listed with prices on the website. That makes it hard to choose the right options to fit your dog. Getting all the information at once was overwhelming. I chose the puppy package for my dog, but I think a different package would've suited him better (The Super Dog?). After talking to Robin, I would give PAWS another shot, but I still think it would be really helpful for them to list the options and prices on their website. read more

Our dog has been going here for years, we have never had any issues, and our dog loves going there. The staff is always very accurate and friendly with every stay. We receive our report card when picking her up and regularly have received a text message photo during her stays. Our dog has a naturally timid personality, but she always heads in to stay wagging her tail and heads straight to the staff to start her stay. She always comes home tired so we know she receives plenty of exercise during her play times. The grooming staff also does a great job too. We often add a "spa day" to the end of her stay so she comes home with a bath and nail trimming. read more

This is an okay place, but certainly not a place where I'd feel comfortable leaving my dog every day. I brought in my pup on Saturday for his first day of daycare since my usual daycare place, The Barking Lot, is closed on weekends. On the phone, the woman said that she would do the evaluation on the same day I dropped him off. I made sure to ask whether or not that would interfere with his group play, since part of the reason I bring him to daycare is so he can get his energy out. She said it would be no problem. When I called to find out how his first day went, I learned that he did not have any group play time, but instead had his evaluation and that's it. They said he did amazing and would be a perfect fit for group play time. I was frustrated to learn my pup spent five hours sitting in a room by himself with no group exercise, especially after the staff assured me he would have group time. The bottom line is that your dog can't talk and tell you what happened in his day or advocate for himself. You have to trust his care providers to follow your instructions or do what they say they will do. After this experience, I just wouldn't be able to trust them in the future. There are definitely pros, though. I am impressed that they have records they can consult, so that when I called to ask how my pup's day went, the person answering the phone could look in his file and tell me what happened whether or not she was there on the day he was at daycare. I also really liked the decor of the place and thought the reception area seemed clean and smelled really nice. There were potted flowers all outside and inside-- really a step up from other doggie daycare places. The outdoor group play areas also seemed really fun with plenty of toys and obstacles. read more

This business is a complete joke. An embarrassment of an establishment and "Robin" the owner needs to re-evaluate her staff, business, and role as the owner of this company. Brought our 4 month old puppy here for his first grooming and left traumatized as none of the staff could justify what had gone wrong during the groom. Our puppy looked like a completely different dog... The groomer Sarah also lied to me about shaving above his nose and between his eyes. She claims she trimmed the hair with scissors but it is very evident that his fur in this area had been shaved. On top of that, the groomer plucked his ear hairs which was never spoken to about with us prior and when we brought our puppy home he would not stop shaking his head the whole night. He looked and acted like a completely different dog and the employees at this business did not care AT ALL. They gave me excuses on top of excuses of why our puppy's groom wasn't what we wanted. They even had the audacity to state multiple times that we must be new dog owners or didn't know what to expect. WRONG. We just had a dog for 14 years who never had a grooming this traumatizing. I will warn everyone I know about this establishment and how cold hearted the people are who work here. As for the owner- you should want your customers to be happy with your services and not try to blame the customer or come up with lame excuses as to why we may not like the job that was done. Don't bring your animals here no matter what you will be terribly disappointed UPDATE** After writing this review the owner called our family AGAIN to make matters even worse when she continued to rant about how great her staff and business are and how many awards they have won. Before this call, we had gotten several second opinions on the plucking of ear hairs during a groom, shaving his face, and the shaking his head. Our vet and another local groomer said that this "ear plucking" is considered to be old school grooming and should never be done. No matter what awards or high standards the owner thinks she has, DOES NOT erase the fact that our puppy was in perfect health and so happy until being groomed here. The one thing that is really important about these phone calls is that the owner Robin did not once ask us how our puppy was doing or have any concern for him. She simply cared about defending her business and talking on and on about how great it is. Recently moved to Cheshire and looked for a new place to board my baby. Picked this place because it looked like they were really attentive and reliable. Well i was wrong. Upon drop off, the person checking in my dog was talking to her coworker about how two of the people working the night shift were "not the best". That should've been my first instinct to not leave my dog there. But i dropped off my dog and was shown the room she would be in. Upon arrival to my vacation destination i checked in on my dog since she had the room with the camera. 3hrs after drop off. She had no food. No toys. And was staring at the wall. Checked back in a hour later she had food but no toys. Hour later had toys. 8pm rolled around pitch black. Should at least be able to see my dog through the night. Next day, she did not get food until very late in the day. Was told she would have food all day since she is considered a "grazer" she picks throughout the day. The day went on and she did not have her toys for most of the day. They should be able to keep their toys at all time. Upon pick up we received her things. She has a vitamin for hip dysplasia that she must have every morning. At pick up (3pm) i look through her things and she had not had her medicine that day. Very very disappointed with the experience and will not be returning. My dog should not be bored 90% of the time there. Should not be missing medication distribution. Update: Robin contacted me to hear my story. She apologized for the unprofessionalism of her employee. She also apologized about the medication issue and said she would re-train her employee who took the initial reservation. She told me that i could have requested for her to have her toys the entire time as well as call to inform them about her not having food etc. she also informed me that they shut off the lights every night but i could have requested the lights stay on. I thanked her for the call. I still believe that i should have been informed about the toys/food/camera concerns upon arrival since i had never been there. read more

I am really quite sad to have to write such a negative review about Paws Pet Resort and Spa in Cheshire. After thinking long and hard I realized that I rely on reviews when choosing a boarding facility for my dog, so I have a responsibility to provide a review for others. We have boarded our lab there for periodic overnight and occasional weeklong periods for almost five years. The facilities are clean and inviting and the staff is invariably pleasant. The care of our dog, however, has markedly declined. Thinking that socialization was very important we always signed her up for their "play-school" when she was there. One day when we picked her up she had a bite, confirmed by our veterinarian. No one at Paws had noticed, even though we paid for individual play sessions (every day) in addition to play school. Other times there were deep scratches. Same response. We are first time dog owners and perhaps should have been more savvy, but she seemed to like it there so we kept on going. This past week (during a day boarding) they forgot to feed her dinner. They also forgot to give her either of the two snacks that we sent with her, as we always do. In addition, she did not receive her medicine that day. When we left a message asking for a call from the owners, we eventually received a call from one of the staff. Paws has become a successful business but in the process has apparently lost the attention to detail and the direct personal involvement of the owners. Although some of the staff are absolutely excellent your dog's care is dependent on who happens to be there that day. It is a shame. It is no longer Paws Pet Care. It is only a business. They will not see us again. read more

PAWS is a wonderful place for your dog. I've seen other dog day cares, and this one really takes the prize. The inside is clean, and the dogs are separated for most of the day, which can ease your worries when it comes to aggressive dogs. Most of the staff is excellent and they truly care about your dog. I am especially impressed with the young staff members, who seem to have been there for awhile. Some of the older staff members sometimes lack in the 'polite' customer service aspect, but the owners make up for it. The owners are so genuine and so accommodating. You have to remember that it is a doggie day care, and there is a chance some nipping and fighting can go on. The only thing I am concerned about, which is why I gave PAWS four stars instead of five, is the other reviewer that said she/he saw her/his dog get bullied by other dogs during play time. The same thing happened to my dog, and it wound up getting bit - fairly bad. I wonder if this is a supervision issue they need to work in during play time. Maybe the attendants need to be more attendant. The story I got was it happened out of nowhere, but that usually isn't the case with dogs. Especially when your staff should be trained to know dogs' behavior. An employee should see that coming. The owner did apologize when it happened though. Overall, great place, we will go here for a long time to come. read more

My wife and I are quite dissatisfied actually APPALLED with Paws management. A weeklong boarding of our two dogs, both Westies turned into a nightmare for all. Our dogs are familiar with the Doggie Play Dates and enjoyed going and meeting familiar faces. However, the company has a HIGH TURNOVER RATE. We found by viewing through the webcam the overnight stays are not enjoyable, but stressful. An incident occurred on the first evening; a staff member did not pay attention to the notes on food. This incident raised concern, so we paid close attention to our dogs via the webcam on our Smartphones while away. (Yes, we refreshed the screen.) What we observed was enough to bring us back home to gather up our two furry family members. What we noticed was that they were not taken out after dinner and sat in their suite for long hours at a time. We gladly paid extra money for additional playtime and walks so they would have a good time. That did not happen. As a result, we came home four days early. Once home we were told that we had to wait a day before picking up the dogs because of the holiday. What my wife noticed on the webcam that holiday morning was that the dogs were in the suite for half the morning, so she called what happened next is INEXCUSABLE BEHAVIOR. The owner, Joe called back and started yelling at my wife over the phone asking, "What more do you want" and other verbal abuse. He said, "we should go elsewhere." She asked him to stop yelling several times, to have an intelligent conversation. He would not stop his verbal abuse and poor behavior toward her. I decided to go pick up my two dogs and confront Joe, who apparently has a severe anger management issue. When I arrived he didn't come out, but instead sent his wife in to meet with me. A coward and poor business owner, his customer service skills are severely lacking. The behavior toward my wife over the phone, lack of customer service skills and poor management skills leaves me no choice but to write this poor review of Paws. read more

I've been taking my dog here for day boarding for about eight months, and I love this place. My dog adores the girls who work there, and they take such great care of him. They are accommodating, understanding, and genuinely excited to take care of Bailey. When I pick him up at the end of the day, I often hear stories about things he did in play group, or how someone gave him extra attention during the day. As is true for any business, they are not perfect, but any time I've had an issue (which is rare) they have addressed it with me, and made sure that I was satisfied. They are expensive and I wish they had longer hours (especially on the weekends), but those are the only drawbacks for me. I started coming to Paws because the location was convenient and on my commute to work. When I moved a few months ago, I opted to continue taking Bailey to Paws even though they are no longer on my commute. The positive experience I've had there is worth the extra 20 minutes it adds to my commute. read more

Heard of this place years ago from one of the owners family members. Everyone so friendly I think our dog ( pitbull puppy) liked it better there than home. She got groomed before coming home smelled great and this was the first place to actually trim her nails so we can see a difference. Only downfall is the price, a bit pricey compared to kennels around. On the other hand much cleaner and quieter than cheaper kennels. read more

We took our 6 month old Samoyed for his first over night boarding and he loved it so much he didn't want to leave. We have had issues with other daycare centers sending him home soaking wet or dirty but even after a full day of playing with the other dogs he was returned clean and dry. The facility is well maintained and the staff is extremely friendly. We got him the puppy package for extra exercise and he was so tired he slept the whole ride home and most of the afternoon. And my friend also, So a couple weeks ago I found you guys online and saw some good things so I decided to give it a shot. Before I go further I'll tell you I had a horrifying experience with another local pet daycare that has me and my baby Sasha traumatized. I lost my husband and Sasha was his dog from the military and so she is all I have left that connection with my husband, she was hurt and we were able to adopt her, he loved her and she was his baby and we all loved her so our experience with another place has me not trusting people are who they claim. Needless to say, I called your facility scared and with my guard up ready to tear down your facade but when I called this woman answered her name was Melanie and I think I threw her off at first but she kept going like as if she could feel what I was feeling she told me I know it's overwhelming but we are here to help you and Sasha at that point she threw me off, I was honestly waiting for the well this is what it is I gotta go attitude a couple other places gave me. But she answered everything and most questions multiple times just to ease my mind and she kept saying don't worry we really care and the owners really care. And I would've said that was just something she was saying but I could feel her sincerity in her voice she talked to me I apologized a million times she just told me never apologize for asking questions it's your baby and u need to know she's in good hands and she said she can assure me that Sasha will be happy here. She invited us for a tour. She made me what they call a file and told me what vaccines I need and what's the process once Sasha goes there. She was the nicest person I've talked to honestly since my husband passed and the incident at the other daycare. I'm happy she told me that you don't keep them all in one room she said she doesn't believe in that and the owners either because dogs need their down time that made me feel good. After I hung up with her I thought how stupid I must've sounded so I called her back and apologized again and she laughed and said that I was too sweet and that if I felt better that it was fine that I asked all those questions. So I can for a tour one night it was late and busy but she said it was no problem and took me around and went over everything in detail I cried and she hugged me and said it's ok, Sasha will be part of our family and so will you. In that moment I knew your place was for us, Melanie is the most compassionate helpful real person I've talked to and it's because of her I am trusting my baby with you. Thank you for her and her kindness. I told her I wanted to call the owners and she said that's not necessary it's her job. But she didn't have to go the extra step and she did and I'm thankful. My baby was supposed to start d/c but I got the flu really bad so she will be there next week when I call for my appt I hope you are excited as I am to meet my baby. Holy Cow where do I begin!! The fact that there is nothing in writing or available on brochures as to what each package includes should have been our first clue. I had spoke to a number of staff over the 6-8 weeks prior to our Out of Country vacation and was told 3 different varieties of care..... Called once and held for 20 minutes (speaker phone.. stayed busy while waiting) then called from another phone only to be asked how they can help..Really hire some staff that can handle to call volume if that is the case.ANYWAY SHALL WE BEGIN!!!! We opted for the "Super Dog"...well people just don't. For almost $80 a day my dog spent the majority of the time alone and stressed in his room. His toy "kong" that any pet enthusiast knows is for holding treats or in our case peanut butter was the FIRST problem. View of our pup via web cam looked as though he had an accident in his room. I watched a number of staff walk by and not address this situation. Called yet again... Turned out to be that my dog (with his thumbs and the spoon he smuggled in to his room) TOOK OUT the peanut butter and put it on the floor. thought she was kidding. no dead serious dog took out peanut butter... Shortly after the call a staff member went in the room and pushed the peanut butter from the floor into his kong and left... HAHAHA Now lets talk about the Web cam app if you are going to have this feature be SURE to ask that it be active 24 hours. We did not request this (since never told of the option). My husband said to get this... It should bring me some comfort knowing that I can see him anytime....WRONG...lights out by 8pm. not back on till they decide. I had to call one morning just so I could see him. But guess what it wasn't my dog in HIS room. The neighbor dog was put there. He seemed to enjoy the food that we brought for our pup to have his regular diet. AND THERE ARE THE ERRORS THAT WE CAN VIEW!!! I must admit by that time I was fed up and made a nuisance of myself. Finally pics were sent every couple of hours with someone touching him and posing to show me the "GRRRREAT" time he was having..from their personal paws cell phone. I got the ## and proof of all that I have stated Heres the finale ....this SUPER DOG package I was told more than once would include 3-1 1/2 hours of play the last one being one on one. a gourmet treat mid day and a person tuck-in with a bed time story.....from a children's book. NOPE no book. no tuck in but they made sure that they sent me a pic of someone sitting on his bed with him at bedtime... Surprise...I saw it all on the cam....in and out just like that. I will never recommend this place to anyone that cares about theeeee..Ummmmm.. what do they call it "HAPPINESS AND HEALTH" of your pet. As a matter of fact im not even close to done.......There are agencies that protect consumers from these type of businesses. read more

We have been boarding our dog at Paws periodically over the past 8 months. The staff and management have always provided excellent care for our fury family member. They are friendly and very concerned with making sure all of our concerns are handled properly during their stay including special treats and medication. Being very concerned parents we were very careful in selecting a place to board our family member. We can go away on vacation knowing that our baby is receiving excellent care. We can also check in on video which gives us additional reassurance that she is doing well. The facility is very clean which was an important concern in selecting this resort! We would not think of any other place to trust our baby during our times away from home! read more

This is a very expensive boarding and everything is a-la-carte, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere. We will not return. We paid $800 to have two dogs boarded for 8 days, and the only thing included was 3 walks a day. One dog is a large newfoundland, who drools as all newfies do. I asked if someone could brush her under her mouth once a day and I was told yes for $1 a minute. Really, $800 and they can't brush her quickly without a charge? That about sums up the customer service. When we picked up, the front desk had to look up their pen number - she had no idea who they were. Our dogs were completely love starved when they came home, I think you may need to pay for the staff to even say "hello" to the dogs. I absolutely love Paws. My best friend used to work there, and so I started bringing my dog for daycare. The staff is exceptional. I have never met a staff member who wasn't friendly, warm, and welcoming. They are all professional and they take personal, attentive care to my dog. My dog Marley can be nervous around other people and dogs until she warms up, and they noticed that and made sure she was comfortable before putting her with the other dogs. Maybe the biggest difference from other local daycares is that my dog is ALWAYS happy when she's there. She loves the staff and loves going there to play. I used to use my neighborhood basic kennel for my two dogs when we traveled, mainly because one of our dogs, a rescue, is dog aggressive. We tried Paws this time and I was so happy we did. The place is immaculately clean, the staff attentive and friendly and our dogs came home happy and well cared for.
