Being a nurse practioner (in people tho) but being aware of bloat which is a risk in sheperds rushed him here in the middle of the night. I was treated very professionally and treatment happened with the blink of an eye to save his life. The vet was amazing who was in the military and knew working dog lines like German sheperds very well. She acted quickly with all the protocol a bloat dog is expected to have. He required surgery for a gastropexy and by the time we left he was being prepped for surgery to save his life. The vet called me after surgery and informed me a mass was found in his spleen (another common issue with these dogs and can be life threatening if not found) and removed the spleen. He was kept for about a day and half and did great. The vet assistants were amazing, so compassionate and loved Wiley like he was part of their family. I am so grateful for their expertise care and also for their compassion towards our family. I was an extreme mess during this time and I thank each and every one of them for the wonderful care they gave to my boy. Thank you on so many levels again for saving my boy. I am forever grateful to the staff and practice in general.

Connecticut Veterinary Center isn't his usual vet, but it was Sunday, and they were open for emergencies. Lucky for us, there was no wait when we arrived. The nurse took him, and had me wait in the examining room. I'm not sure why we couldn't be together. At his usual vet, they do everything with me there. Shortly after Dr. Fabrizio came to tell me the update. She is super kind, compassionate, answered all of my questions and is very knowledgeable. She told me my boy's kidneys aren't working as well as they once did. As long as he's eating and drinking, he's got more life left in him. I was expecting much worse. She prescribed him antibiotics and infusion. He's at home, he's doing so much better, and he's peeing clear. I am so grateful to the wonderful staff at Connecticut Veterinary Center, especially Dr. Fabrizio for saving my sweet Jude's life.

They were able to do the routine stuff however their ability for anything beyond yearly check up is severely lacking. We had 2 pets there, first a chocolate lab that was a senior, over 10 years old. They were alright, however Dr Dan saw him once and scared us so bad said he had some kind of heart issue and we may need to get him to an emergency vet ASAP, then came back and said he was fine. We did have him looked at an emergency vet and they could find nothing wrong with him. We let that slide, unprofessional and poor bedside manors but whatever. Then about a year later, just this past February, he was very lethargic and having issues, we called and they said it didn't seem like an emergency and they can get him in about 3 weeks. We decided to go to the emergency vet and in a matter of hours he was gone, I understand how busy it can get but the amount they just shrugged us off was disappointing for being with them for so long. Also he was on prescription food, they refused to give the prescription to Chewy and required we go through their own online store. We did, after he passed we got another delivery of his food, a few weeks later we called and asked about a refund in which they said they do not have a process to refund orders for pets who have passed. I explained to them how Chewy handles that situation, I spoke with Devon, he seemed nice however never actually called me back and gave me an answer one way or the other. I called him back again, he said he was "still working on it" and would get back to me by the end of the day. That was 3 days ago and no word at all. Mind you I was asking for a $130 refund after spending $3160 with them in a matter of 4 weeks. Not long after this our other dog, an 8 year old boxer mix needed a mole removed. They performed the operation and from there it went down hill quick. He developed a severe infection close to where the operation was, we brought him back, they did a quick test and gave us an antibiotic. He did not get better at all and kept getting worse, we went back there paid over $600 for additional tests were given a different antibiotic but still having issues. We called this morning to ask about a different form of medicine, maybe a compounded liquid. You would have thought I asked them to launch a space shuttle, nobody had any idea and "needed to consult the vet and get back to us". It took 3 hours to get a call back and they said try hiding the pill in a marshmallow, that was literally their only response. I expressed kindly that I feel my pet is not getting the care he needs and expressed my dissatisfaction that they seem to just just guessing at things and effectively throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. After I expressed that they then said they can send over a prescription to a pharmacy in southington but I was not able to get the prescription myself. They then followed up with an email giving me the pharmacy info and the info of other emergency vet offices and said we should consider a different vet. This was not an issue because I was already looking for a different one. Overall they seem like at best the practice is poorly managed, the doctors and also front desk associates seem to never actually know what's going on or provide any kind of useful information. Honestly the techs that work there are the only bright spot and must be what is keeping them in business. If you need just a basic checkup and "tech" appointment they are alright, if you need an actual vet / doctor appointment unfortunately they seem to not have the skill and ability to properly care for pets beyond the very basics. Overall a very expensive and disappointing experience and worst of all I believe both of my pets received poor care which created more issues and suffering for them.

The office was clean, intake was professional, and everyone I spoke to was a real animal-lover. Dr. Dan was kind and candid and encouraged me to ask any and all questions -- he was also able to cite recent research in the field, which was a big plus for me. Checkup fee seemed standard, and the doctor was totally transparent with me about the cost/benefit of additional tests. My cat probably wasn't thrilled about the whole thing, but it was way better than vet experiences we've had in the past -- and the peace of mind (they're responsive to email/phone queries) is awesome.
