I hopped in my truck and drove up to his home shop in Leander. He greeted me right away and told me you can pick it up later today. Sure enough, he was true to his word. When I arrived, he described what he did to the lawnmower. Replacing the carburetor, sharpening the blades, draining the fuel tank. An overall check up. I cut my grass yesterday. With absolutely no issues. He did recommend that I replace the blade. And of course Amazon had something delivered the next day. Honda makes such a great product and it's rare in this day and age when something can actually be repaired. Mr. Raine is a solid, stand-up guy. True to his word. And he even gave me a guarantee/warranty till the end of the year. Said if anything comes up, just bring it back and we'll get you fixed up. I had previously tried a neighborhood lawn mower repair shop. It was money down the drain. If you have any issues with your lawnmower. Give Mr. Raine a call. He will get you set up. With a smile and a generous, genuine attitude. He's a solid dude.

He engaged quickly, set up a time to come out to my house, spent time diagnosing the mower, and showed me the part that was broken. He didn't have the replacement on the truck and I'd told him I was comfortable replacing it myself, so we agreed for him to come back out and adjust it after I replaced the rocker arm. On the second trip, Ken worked on the mower for a while to keep it from running too fast and pointed out a couple things I'd done wrong when I rebuilt the engine. Turns out I was going to need to rebuild the motor again to fix the internal part that wasn't working right. I tried to pay him for the 2 trips and he said he couldn't accept payment since he didn't get it to a full running condition. I have now rebuilt it, gotten it running again, and reached out to Ken to adjust it. He gave me detailed instructions over e-mail to make the adjustments myself since he knows I'm handy, and has declined my 3rd attempt to pay him for his services...again since he says he didn't leave the mower fully functional. You don't see this level of integrity, honesty, and consideration out of many people these days. If Ken won't let me pay him, the most I can do is give him a 5* rating anywhere I can. Great guy, and I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone needing small engine repair.

In fact we even bought from a dealer that is not supplied by TOP, and this brings me to how we came to realize a difference in service, between dealers, and even distributers. To prevent embarrassment, I'll leave the "other" dealer un-named. We bought a good quality product from them (Echo), and months later it needed some warranty work. We dealt with them for months to get it resolved, and the answer they gave us was that our unit was trashed, and we should just buy a new one (from them of course.) Being in desperate need of another unit, we did purchase a replacement, but continued to fight our warranty at the dealer and manufacturer level. Because of the poor involvement of the dealer, the manufacturer was forced to deny the claim. Because of the poor management of the dealer, this would never be resolved, and in the meantime, our unit still held for inspection by un-named dealer, was THROWN AWAY. My guess is so that we couldn't get a second opinion on it. We were lied to, given the run around when we contacted them, and finally treated super rudely when we realized that this dealer was going to do nothing to keep a customer. Leaving said dealer, we entered one of TOP's dealers and voiceing frustration with the Echo, said that we were in need of a replacement product, NOT made by Echo. When TOP got wind of our boycott they decided to make it right even though they were not even involved in this case at all. They picked up the pieces of someone else's mess, and cleaned it up, salvaging a commercial customer. Isn't that how business in America is supposed to be done? Echo, Scag and Billy Goat, make the best products that we have used; BUT THE DEALER MAKES A DIFFERENCE! Make sure you go to Texas Outdoor Power's website, and buy your stuff from a dealer that is held accountable. I am disgusted. I have lived here 23 years and had to use AJ's multiple times over the years,…read morethanks to limited other options, but I am truly done now, even if I have to learn small engine repair. It started earlier this summer, when they picked up 4 mowers/trimmers for repair. I already knew it would take forever to get them back, BUT....one 3 year old walk behind came back unrepaired "because they couldn't find parts" (I was charged the 50 bucks to tell me that and they offered to let me dispose of that $500 mower by leaving it there. I declined!) They return the second unit, a field trimmer with the same reason (if I remember right) unfixed, same charge, same offer to "relieve me off 400 bucks" by keeping it there. I declined. They fixed the ride on, however, I gave them a written note, telling them exactly what I wanted to to have. INSTEAD they replaced a "dead" battery that was in fine shape and held a charge before they came for an insane amount of money, did NOT have it authorized before hand, rebuilt the carburetor that had JUST been rebuild/cleaned and only been used about 10 minutes before it went to them. And at the second mowing, a few weeks after they came back, that carburetor turned out faulty and pushed a huge amount of gasoline into my oil! Now, I dare call them about this and you guessed it, warranty on their work is THIRTY days! That is how much they trust their own work, ONE maybe TWO uses and you are on your own. And it never needed to be messed with to begin with, nor that battery (Of course they didn't return my "old" battery either....) So I paid 800 bucks, got 2 unfixed mowers back, have not yet even tried to start the handheld trimmer......and the ride on is as dead as it was a few weeks ago and NO WARRANTY on their own work, that they MESSED UP. Watch some videos, you can fix more yourself then you know. Start with google AI to narrow down the issue. You can do it. Save your money.
