In fact we even bought from a dealer that is not supplied by TOP, and this brings me to how we came to realize a difference in service, between dealers, and even distributers. To prevent embarrassment, I'll leave the "other" dealer un-named. We bought a good quality product from them (Echo), and months later it needed some warranty work. We dealt with them for months to get it resolved, and the answer they gave us was that our unit was trashed, and we should just buy a new one (from them of course.) Being in desperate need of another unit, we did purchase a replacement, but continued to fight our warranty at the dealer and manufacturer level. Because of the poor involvement of the dealer, the manufacturer was forced to deny the claim. Because of the poor management of the dealer, this would never be resolved, and in the meantime, our unit still held for inspection by un-named dealer, was THROWN AWAY. My guess is so that we couldn't get a second opinion on it. We were lied to, given the run around when we contacted them, and finally treated super rudely when we realized that this dealer was going to do nothing to keep a customer. Leaving said dealer, we entered one of TOP's dealers and voiceing frustration with the Echo, said that we were in need of a replacement product, NOT made by Echo. When TOP got wind of our boycott they decided to make it right even though they were not even involved in this case at all. They picked up the pieces of someone else's mess, and cleaned it up, salvaging a commercial customer. Isn't that how business in America is supposed to be done? Echo, Scag and Billy Goat, make the best products that we have used; BUT THE DEALER MAKES A DIFFERENCE! Make sure you go to Texas Outdoor Power's website, and buy your stuff from a dealer that is held accountable. He engaged quickly, set up a time to come out to my house, spent time diagnosing the mower, and showed me the part that was broken. He didn't have the replacement on the truck and I'd told him I was comfortable replacing it myself, so we agreed for him to come back out and adjust it after I replaced the rocker arm. On the second trip, Ken worked on the mower for a while to keep it from running too fast and pointed out a couple things I'd done wrong when I rebuilt the engine. Turns out I was going to need to rebuild the motor again to fix the internal part that wasn't working right. I tried to pay him for the 2 trips and he said he couldn't accept payment since he didn't get it to a full running condition. I have now rebuilt it, gotten it running again, and reached out to Ken to adjust it. He gave me detailed instructions over e-mail to make the adjustments myself since he knows I'm handy, and has declined my 3rd attempt to pay him for his services...again since he says he didn't leave the mower fully functional. You don't see this level of integrity, honesty, and consideration out of many people these days. If Ken won't let me pay him, the most I can do is give him a 5* rating anywhere I can. Great guy, and I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone needing small engine repair.

I have gotten work from them before and I…read moreguess I got to give them credit for fixing an item but you are only as good as your experiences and so my second time here to come and pick up an item, I waited 10 minutes until I just walked out. I walked in to pick up an item that they called me and told me it is ready. I walk in and a guy had just jumped out of his truck right before me so unfortunately he gets to be first, the guy at the counter says I'll be with you while he's working with someone else, because of smartphones yes I can let the 8 minutes, the 9 minutes past and then I look down and realize I am at 10 minutes plus. Now they didn't say anything to me during that time, like hey another minute. So I left and I will come back and pick up my chainsaw but this is ridiculous. Here's what you got to do when it comes to customer service if you guys really care about your Google and your Yelp review rating, if the customer you are helping has taken 10 minutes and you think that it is going to take longer, address me and find out what it is that I need perhaps mine will take 30 seconds, take the $18 that I owe you, give me my chainsaw and get me out of there. Focusing in on just the one customer in front of you allows this review, allows my situation to happen. I did hear other people in the back and the guy at front at a minimum should have called for help. I've worked across different industries and customer service has been included in that I can tell you if you told a customer who saw me waiting for 10 minutes behind them, give me a couple seconds to get this guy out of here and then we will finish with you especially since it looks like yours may take another 10 or 15 minutes. That did not happen, no I don't want to talk to a manager you guys don't have to try to reach out to me after the fact, you already know that your Yelp rating is a one star I'm pretty sure you should work to improve that and this kind of thing would not happen.

He was sensitive to running up a large bill, again, due to the age of the mower (the old "at what point do I stop spending money vs buy a newer model" question), and assured me he could offer a solution within budget.
