Talk about "Above & Beyond"!!!…read more Meet Spur- My 6 yr. old chi x yorki mix who almost died in February 2022 from a dog attack. He 's my first "little dog", my little bf, my to-go buddy, my everything, my heart dog. Yes, I dress him in sweaters, bow-ties and I'm not proud. He was rushed to the nearest vet where he was diagnosed with a possible spinal cord injury and needed an MRI but misdiagnosed with other injuries they missed on X-ray. On my way, Dr. Jen happen to call and she said she'd wait for me at the clinic to do an exam. She felt he didn't need an MRI but instead anti-inflammatory to see how he responds. She gathered up a bunch of supplies and said he was headed home with her for the night. She kept him for three nights and during the day at the clinic , where he was waited on hand and foot (well, by one tech). He started to improve then she did her own set of X-rays, only to find out Spur had a crushed T5 and his rib was detached. It didn't look very good she told me I asked if there was any hope? She said" There is always hope". The next day he was better and by Thursday he was ready to come home. Fast forward a month and you'd see Spur is almost back to 100%. He can walk, run, jump and (still try to bite the Dr. Jen when he's worried). Dr. Jen did cold laser therapy, acupuncture and clearly has a special touch. The staff at Above and Beyond is amazing as well!! Professional, accurate and always call to remind you of your appointment. I'm more than happy with the services Spur & I received! To say I recommend Above & Beyond is an understatement. Thank you Dr. Jen and your amazing staff!!! Teresa Howden Owner/Intermountain Mannered Mutts Pistol's Rescue Ranch, 501c3

They were nice, but they didn't tell me that they were gonna charge me an emergency fee for me…read morebringing in my cat when she had a stomach ache and was not eating I wasn't mind paying for the service but they could've at least told me they were gonna charge me the emergency fee before they helped me and rang me up and ended up costing me almost $200 more But I really didn't have to spend. Anyhow, I made it work by maxing out my credit card, which I now have to pay off but other than that, they were cool she recovered. She just had a bellyache and they gave her a shot and we were on our way. Just kind of wish they would've at least let me know for a store maybe even just been cool enough to just wave it since I was only there for 20 minutes But either way I didn't have an appointment. I guess I thought I did but it was for a different day when scheduling online it was a little bit confusing all in all they seem nice though and it seems like a good place.

I was given a quote of $100 dollars for three views of my dogs neck for xrays. I said Okay do it,…read morewhen they brought in the xrays for me to review with them I noticed their were five views. The doctor and the assistant were assuring me that everything looked normal. My small dog 7 lbs had been kicked in his head then had his neck stepped on by a cow.....I was hesitant and asked are you sure and they were like yeah all normal. I said where is his microchip at they couldn't show me and then finally said oh this isn't even your dog left and came back with some other xray and said this was his. Which could have been from an earlier visit when he was fixed and microchipped. I paid 800 then for all this extra stuff heartworm testing, iv fluids for dehydration, which none was even done. So my bill this time was overcharged at least 200 for the xrays I was quoted 100 for. Dr. Tedesco did not even do a real exam on my dog everytime I would mention a concern she immediately said that it was common in small dogs or something like that. I called for a refund and billing would not ask the Dr what the quote was only said it was a set amount for xrays and I was wrong about what I heard. I had a feeling that the people waiting for their stray cat that was spayed/neuter was being charged on my bill....Not sure but coincidental timing of their payment as mine. I like the office staff but Dr. Tedesco I don't think is even a real vet. She just responds with how the situatiion is normal for the breed for the size etc almost before your even done talking. My dog also came home from being fixed(male dog) and has had problems like it made it worse and also has black hair like stuff on his fur and body now

We found the perfect dog, couldn't take him home as next day he had a surgery scheduled. They took such great care of him, and the team of veterinarians were fantastic and extremely informative. We couldn't be happier with our experience with Haven.

My cousin found a dog a few months ago, and my 10 year old daughter was with her when they found her- my daughter and I don't want her sitting in a shelter. We were in the process of moving from Sonoma County to Shasta County. To make a long story short, we are now living up in shasta county full time. Today I went into Haven for some guidance, and explaining I am happy to foster her in my home until she is adopted. I was immediately spoke to like I was stupid for not "knowing Haven's Rules.' Now that she has been in our care for over 30 days, Haven refused to help us. The rude girl in the back area kept poking her head out to add and repeat the same rude, condescending comments. I just thought it was really unnecessary and mean spirited- Questioning if I even found the dog in shasta county- as if it mattered at this point, because you already told me "here's what that means, it means we won't be taking the dog and that she's your responsibility." And yes, my cousin found here in Redding. WHAT IS HAPPENING?! I have been trying to rehome this great dog and keep her out of a kennel, but I have learned that that is a bad thing to do in Haven's eyes. I don't work at a shelter, and I don't know what the specifics rules are. I'm sorry that I messed up. I was just trying to help. We have adopted and fostered with Haven in the past when we lived in shasta county three years ago, but I left feeling very ignored, spoken down to, like I was stupid for not knowing Haven's rules (I know, how dare I not study the pamphlet before stepping foot in their building). I understand that there is basically an epidemic of stray animals in Shasta County, but how you speak to people should matter. Even if you're unpaid volunteering, please rethink your "good deed" if you are going to go out of your way to try and make people feel unintelligent, dishonest, and just overall icky. I'm very disappointed in how I was treated today by the two women in the very first building- the pregnant woman and the other woman that was working with her. Boo. You are supposed to be here to help people, and I left feeling invalidated, like I did a bad thing, and almost like I was in trouble or something. What the heck?
