This is the only veterinary practice I will ever take my pets to. Everyone there is kind, caring, compassionate and genuinely just good people. Ashley (vet tech) is absolutely the sweetest ! Dr. Sandy is a gem. A straightshooter with a heart of gold who knows her shit! But Doc Lydel is it. I have had pets my whole life (I'm 58 years old) and have never experienced the kindness and competence I have experienced with Doc. He is incredibly smart, and one of a kind! He explains everything throughly and until you understand. He never rushes or makes me feel like there aren't a million other patients and things he needs to attend to. I am his sole focus. I cannot express how wonderful it is to be able to know my pets come before profit and that they are getting the best care! Not to mention I feel heard, understood and loved everytime I walk through the door. If you think I layed it on too thick, I didn't. This is not close to enough praise. read more

Took cat to be spayed. They did a fantastic job! The incision was nicely done. My cat didn't even need to wear a cone. She never really bothered the site which was amazing! She healed quickly! We've been back since for shots and a check up. Highly recommend this place for anyone trying to find a good vet, and the staff is super friendly! Prices are also a bit cheaper than a lot of others in our area. Although it's further for us from our location it's well worth it and it's a nice drive too. ​ read more

Been going to this animal clinic with all of my animals for years. I'm not sure what changed, but I took my 14-year-old dog that has severe arthritis in just to get some pain management for him. The doctor was very impersonal. She was not very kind to my dog or me when I told her I didn't want to spend $250 to get my elderly dog's liver checked before she prescribed him any pain meds. I wasn't going to write a review until I took him to a different vet and they were so incredibly helpful. They laid out all different pamphlets of all different way that we could go for managing my dogs pain. They didn't charge me extra money for liver tests. I am thoroughly disappointed and will never be returning to this animal clinic. read more

This feels very conflicting writing this, as I have been in several times with my boyfriend (for his pup) and the services provided were top notch. I fell in love with the small town feeling and how intimate it felt. I took such a liking, that I considered to make the switch for all four of my animals from their primary doctor to Shingletown Vet. That being said--here are my new-found qualms. I came home from work a little over a week ago and noticed that one of my cats had a limp and was favoring one of his paws. I googled it and decided to give him a couple days, as he didn't seem to be in lots of pain, with it potentially being a simple sprain. 2-3 days later, he was favoring the paw still. I then decided that it was time to officially make the switch. I called Shingletown Vet and gave them the details, and they said that they could get me in within a few days. However, they required a fifty dollar deposit due to being a new patient, and I had no problem with that. They noted that if I cancelled before 24 hours for some reason, they would happily return the deposit, but anytime after, they would not. Totally understandable. I relayed that to my boyfriend and he was confused because they never required that from him, but it's just fifty bucks and it's going towards the visit itself. I was very much looking forward to becoming a new client, so it was whatever to me. Maybe it's something they just started doing? No big deal. The day of the appointment comes and I get a call that morning stating that their doctor is sick, and has to leave early for the day, resulting into scheduling a new appointment. The soonest they could get me in was today (Monday) and my appointment originally fell on last Thursday. I was slightly peeved, yes, but I also work with the public and I am well aware that things just sometimes happen. Mistakenly, I chose to continue and put not only my trust, but the well-being of my animal into their hands. Today comes and I give them a call to make sure that I am not mixing up the appointment time with the original appointment. The receptionist asks for my last name and then tells me that I am not on the schedule? She then asks to put me on a brief hold. Once the hold was over, she gets back on the line, saying that not only is the doctor still out sick, but that they are no longer taking new patients at this time, and the soonest they could get us in would be WEEKS from now. She then suggests that I go elsewhere. However, on the bright side (unbeknownst to me), they already returned my security deposit to my checking account days prior. Wow. I paused, very confused and feeling much frustration, but collected myself. I asked her why they re-scheduled my appointment from the start and reassured me that we would be seen, and for some reason now we are being turned away and told to go elsewhere. She apologized, repeated herself and gave me the same explanation. "Our doctor is sick and we have too many appointments to take on new clients." ???? None of this explains as to why she didn't tell that the doctor was supposedly still out as soon as she picked up the phone. All I was told was that I was not on the schedule, when they scheduled me themselves? None of this explains why I wasn't shown on the schedule from the start? Nor does any of this make up for their lack of communication in terms of services provided and when it comes to also tossing my money back and fourth. Most importantly, none of this is at all fair to my cat that I have had stuck in the house while we wait to be seen. Highly disappointed and I will not be referring anyone that I know to them from here on out. I'm sure they do more than fine, but they just lost my respect and not one, not two, not three, but four new clients. I am leaving 2 stars because I have seen how well they do with Mable (my boyfriend's dog) versus 1. I'm sure that he will continue to go there. I just hope that they continue to treat them well! read more

My twelve year old mini Australian Shepherd was attacked by a deer. I thought he would probably die. He had a big bubble with tissue coming out of his rear side. I rushed him to the clinic where the girls came out and took my dog right in. Dr. Lydon said he would have to do surgery to fix the damage. He not only fixed the damage done, but gave me the best news that my dog was going to be ok after a period of recovery at home. I was so relieved and happy . The price that I was charged was more than fair. This animal clinic is hands down the best experience I've ever had as long as I have owned my dog. The staff are wonderfully professional and as nice as can be. I HIGHLY recommend this clinic. I'm new to the area and have been to many veterinary clinics over the coarse of my dogs life. I love this vet office and staff. They truly care about your fur babies. I called at 4:25 pm on a Friday with a hurt pup. Dr. Lyndon and staff waited for us to arrive after closing time to help my baby Rosey. She broke/fractured her hind leg. Although Dr. Lyndon was not able to perform the needed surgery. He and his staff stabilized her and provided meds until I could find an orthopedic veterinarian. They take care of all my fur babies and could not be happier with the level of care and affection they show to their clientele of all types. Love this place!! read more

We take our Dogs to Doctor Rob for care. This Veterinarian is super personable, he sits on the floor with the dogs, pets them, and shows lots of love. Bedside manner is everything with humans and pets. We have had some complex issues with our yellow lab, and Doctor Rob is super competent, and is up to date on all the latest in Vet Medical World. His care and treatment are spot on. Better yet, his attention to detail and follow up care is second to none. I have experiences with many great vets, and Dr. Rob is simply the best. We drive over 45 minutes to take our animals there, with at least 10 other vets are closer, that we bypass. I noticed that he takes the time to examine the dogs, and does a great job of explaining everything to us. In today's world every doctor, vet, etc is in such a hurry to get the job done, and move on to the next room. Not the case with Dr. Rob Lydon, he really takes the time, and truly enjoys his time with us and our animal. Our dog needed surgery, and Doctor Rob did an awesome job, the scar is not visible unless you really move the hair on her leg. Overall, he and his staff are awesome, and for me is definitely worth the drive up the hill to Shingletown. read more

We don't live in Shingletown, but in the valley. However, we spend a lot of time in the summer in the Mt. Lassen area with our horses. Because of this, we decided to check in with Dr. Lydon so we would have a vet connection in case of emergency. I was very impressed with his receptiveness and willingness to chat about our situation and our needs. We have had him address a lameness problem and he was super about giving us suggestions and directions for helping alleviate the problem. We have also had him float our horses' teeth and been very happy with all his work. Even though we haven't had any major emergencies occur, we are glad we connected with him and feel confident he will be "our guy" when we need him. He loves to talk horses, and has his own herd, so has experience all the way around. read more

We took our ailing cat to the Shingletown Animal Clinic based on a local recommendation. All the vets we have ever taken our pets to have been in Redding, Palo Cedro, and Anderson as we did not realize there was a clinic in Shingletown. We were very, very happy with Dr. Lydon, Sue, and everyone who helped us. Dr. Lydon quickly diagnosed what was wrong with our cat, explained everything he was doing as he was doing it, and he and Sue were very gentle with our cat, who didn't complain one bit (and she's a complainer :) ).
