We have been here several times and everything we have purchased has been great. I am a big fan of the small filled croissants and try to get a different flavor every time. This trip I got a blueberry, a creme cheese and a Boston cream one. My favorite was the Boston cream, my least favorite was the cream cheese. We also got a glazed donut and a twist, both of these for the first time. The donut was better than you can get at the famous places. The twist was a cross between a donut and a cinnamon roll. Very good. There was a line when we arrived but it moved fairly quickly. There was only one person at the register, he was filling orders, answering the phone and taking payments, so not real friendly, but not rude. I noticed while we were walking that they have a good selection of other dishes other than sweet stuff. Tempted to try something different next time. We sat in the adjoining seating area that is shared with a sandwich shop. The seating area was clean and huge. No trouble finding a seat here. The croissants are like donut-croissants, very sweet and very yummy and the coffee is surprisingly very good as we normally don't have good coffee in some other places for breakfast The store is small, lovely with great services, but the sitting area is huge. I stopped in here to pick up some treats for my staff. There is plenty of free parking and also seating for dining in. It is attached to the community center and barefoot sandwich shoppe. There was a nice size line when I arrived but it went rather quickly. They serve hot food as well as the desserts. I ordered a dozen filled croissants. The staff loved them! Ok, I saw a bakery and had to stop in. They had a wide variety of baked goods but mostly croissants. Smores, maple bacon, cinnamon sugar, chocolate strawberry, and so many other flavors to choose from! I got a box of 12 for everyone to pick 3 flavors each they wanted to try. The croissants were nice and flakey, and the flavors were not overpowering. I was so sad when I ran out! I cannot wait to see another Burneys so I can stop in and grab some more delicious treats! read more

The Deets: I got to swing by Burney's Sweets & More a couple of times in brief stopovers in Elizabethtown en route during our annual OIB trip. First trip was to get some of their locally famous "glazed croissant" type of pastries to take down to enjoy at the beach. Hard to describe them other than that, and I did get some pics so you can see for yourself. They are of various flavors and fillings just to shake it up a bit. These little gems are pretty delicious, a good thing to have with your morning cup of coffee...or anytime you want something tasty and sweet. The other visit was for lunch. The bakery/cafe itself is bright, clean, and nice. The staff were welcoming, positive, and helpful. We had heard that their chicken salad sandwich was the thing to get for lunch here so I went with that. It came out as a fairly simple looking toasted chicken salad sandwich but it was just as it was described...delicious and not heavy. I was looking for a tasty but simple lunch that day and it did the job perfectly. I believe they do breakfast as well. We also got to see them making all those delicious glazed goodies in the back while sitting at one of the booths eating, it was very cool. We had breakfast there with eggs bacon toast sausage and grits. The drink was included your meal. Croissants were very good and buttercream icing on the vanilla cupcake is not too sweet. It was very good. No over the top almond extract used either. read more

Burney's deserved 10 stars on desserts alone. They sell breakfast and lunch as well, but the are well known for their delectable sweets that come in all shapes and sizes. Located in downtown Elizabethtown, they are in a standalone building that use to house a few more businesses but I don't know if those businesses are still open. There a a few parking spaces outside their door and a large private on the other side of the building with an additional entrance. Burney's will satisfy any sweet tooth. They have such a large array of desserts from donuts to filled croissants to cakes to pies (individual or large sizes for the cake and pies). The sweet potatoes pies are to die for and you can order whole cakes. They carry many cakes such as caramel , chocolate, honey bun, Italian, hummingbird and so much more. The great thing about Burney's is all of their items are made in-house. If you are ever in the area or close to the area, definitely stop by a d you will not be disappointed. read more

Definitely a favorite of the locals! They sell something comparable to the cronut you hear about in LA and NY. It's basically a glazed croissant..so good, but SO bad for you! These are the PERFECT size. Not too big and under $1.00. Loved the chocolate and Bavarian cream wasn't bad (I don't usually like that stuff but their cream wasn't too sweet) Besides different croissant filled goodies, they have brownies, donut holes, fritters, chocolate covered strawberries (to name a few). I saw food being served, which I have not tried yet. This place gets pretty busy at lunch time, but service is fast and friendly! They are located inside the farmers market. Can we just talk about the croissants for a minute? Just a moment of silence to honor how amazing the croissants are........ Ok, ok. I've had desserts from this location and they never fail me, but my favorite of everything I've tried are the croissants (you've guessed that by now right?). They are so moist and fluffy, sweet and tasty, if they weren't so unhealthy I could eat at 3 everyday. Oh and they don't cost an arm and a leg. I've had lunch from them once and it was good too, a lot of people eat their lunch and breakfast, so it must be good. The only thing I didn't like about making a purchase was the minimum amount you're required to spend if you want to use your card. It's been a while since I ate their lunch, maybe since 2015, so hopefully this rule has changed. read more
