This review, however, is just for the bakery, as we did not dine in. The bakery case was full of beautiful pastries and French goodies that I just did not know what to get. We settled on an Apple turnover, chocolate croissant, and 3 small raspberry filled donuts. The clerk boxed up our items and rang us up, but the change drawer was a little sparse, so she had difficulty making change for us. They had just opened, but the drawer was not full for the day. Just odd, but not that much of an issue. There are no photos here of the cases because of the signs posted inside not allowing photos or videos to be taken. You have to come in to get a look yourself, I guess, but you won't be disappointed. I'd like to try lunch or dinner, or maybe the high tea, because the menu has some wonderful items listed. The pastries were delicious and buttery, and not sweet. Just a great mouth feel when you take a bite. I will definitely be back for something else.

As soon as I placed the order, I sent a text message to confirm if my order went through and to see if I could get it delivered instead, which wasn't a problem at all! I was also given a timeframe of when Damien would bake and ship out my goods, which was accurate and fast. The hardest part was waiting for it to be delivered, which was 2 long days but that's only because I'm impatient. When I did receive my order which was on Saturday, March 4th, everything was wrapped up perfectly in bubble wrap. Almost all of the cookies were in perfect condition but that's only because the mail lady had the box flipped on the side. I couldn't wait until desert time, so I opened a pack of 3 cookies that come pre-wrapped, and left no crumbs, they're THAT delicious. After eating a normal meal, I cracked open the Peach Cobbler that came in two large mason jars. It's honestly the greatest thing ever. I ate about 1/4 of that mason jar in one sitting before stopping myself. Everything tasted super fresh If you're considering ordering, stop thinking about it and just do it, you won't regret it.

I was in the area! Before you enter, pray for will power. The smell of freshly baked goods hit me as I opened the door and I was greeted with a warm welcome. I came specifically for the Biscoff cheesecake danish. But EVERYTHING looked and smelled amazing. My mouth watered as I pondered the thought of getting one of each item. But, I stuck with the plan. I don't regret a single bite! The danish was soft yet flaky and the cookie butter mixed into the cheese cake was perfection. I'll be back to try more items.

For this trip to Burney's, it's a 3-star experience. In fairness, we always think of croissants when we think of Burney's so perhaps trying an apple fritter wasn't totally fair?

I got lucky and snagged a spot near the front, though :) I looked around at everything and it all looked so tasty! I decided to grab a loaf of pumpernickel bread, but next time I'll probably get a dessert or two. The staff were helpful throughout my visit. They asked me if I wanted my bread sliced, and when I replied in the affirmative, gave me a helpful chart with a lot of different options for how thick I wanted each slice :) I took the bread home, stuck it in the oven, and ate it with some butter and jam. Delicious! My kids really liked it as well. Overall, I will definitely come back!

I beg, please invest in some nice bakery cardboard boces, that way multiple treats can go into a single box too, and then just some nice paper bags. I happened to pick what I can only assume was Bavarian cream and immediately wanted to be THAT new guy and get more. I didn't do that, though. But the croissant was flakey and the cream was perfect. The following week, I tried to drop by before my shift. I followed my GPS to the strip mall it is located in. It's located in a small strip of shops with Hills Grocery, across from the Lowe's Home Improvement Store. They even have a drive-thru window for extra convenience. Their croissants are light and airy layered confections that are filled when you order. There are 25-30 varieties, ranging from glazed (JUST LIKE A WARM KRISPY KREME DONUT) to ones with fancy fillings and toppings. The ratio of filling to pastry was perfect. The owner was very accommodating when asked about all the combinations of fillings and toppings. There were also brownies, cupcakes, and cinnamon rolls, all made on site. When you're in the area and looking for a treat, keep Darel's in mind. And if you're not in the area, Darel's products are now in several coastal spots, so that makes it even more convenient to try some. Look for them at Heritage Fresh Market, Ludlum's Produce of Holden Beach, Sheffield's of Ocean Isle, and The Island Market of Sunset Beach!
