Cool little kayak and rafting outfitter located down on the Onancock Wharf. We briefly meet one of the owners while out front taking some photos and she chatted with us and also provided us with some pamphlets with their services. I didn't catch her name but she very friendly and accommodating. They also have a little store there T-Shirts and other Onancock related knick knacks. If you're looking to hit the water Onancock with a kayak or canoe, this is the place to go. I know I'll be back.

Stand up Paddle (SUP) boarding right in the beautiful harbor.

Found these folks on Yelp and I think they will be my go-to rental place next time I'm in town!…read more Wanted to try out the kiddos on some boogie boards, and at $10 for a 24-hour rental, it's not a bad rate. She even waived a fee since I paid cash. When I came back two days later to rent them again, they already had most of my info, I just needed to rescan my license and pay up and it was smooth sailing. A third day would have put me over the weekly rate ($25), and she said I could just pay the $5 since I had already rented two days. Nice, some other place might have penalized me for that, but these folks are just trying to make the equipment rental process really easy. Even returning the boards I just handed them back and told them my name, no need to sign anything. While I only got boogie boards, they also have surf boards, paddle boards, kayaks, and so many bicycles. Their website has the full list of prices and offerings. I'll definitely be back - highly recommended!!!

And so I did! I invited my daughter and her BF as well. We made reservations for an eco tour at 4pm. It was to Last about 90 min or so. We found the spot. (Right behind Ron Jon surf Shop) we were fitted into the kayaks and here we go! I thought it would be hard or strenuous to paddle but that thinking was the exact opposite of the reality! It was smooth floating over the water in the bay! This kayak can float in like 5 inches of water!! We had the best tour guide! (Jacob) He showed us all the mussels that make up the Bay island grasses and the different birds and how to tell them apart. Small blue herons with the yellow feet and we Saw a nice size Osprey flying around hunting for food. We also found and learned about horseshoe crabs. I mean, I've seen those all my life in NC but never picked up a live one! It was like a tarantula under his helmet and I think Jacob (our guide) said they had 10 eyes!!! Wow!!! We saw everything right in front of our eyes. No binoculars needed. It's extremely relaxing. Extremely informative. Extremely beautiful. There were another 3 people that bunched with our group to kayak and a family of prob 4. I think paddleboarding that also bunched with our group as well. Everyone was very respectful and very interested in everything Jacob spoke about. We didn't take our phones on the boats. We didn't know what to expect and actually we were a bit wet. Next time I'll bring mine and put in a sandwich bag or something. Also *** please tip your guide.*** It's the right thing to do. Please come to this specific location and do your kayaking and paddleboarding. It's super awesome!

Both Steve and Suzie are excellent, friendly and accommodating hosts and really know their way around this waterway. You embark from right behind their property with quality equipment and a really informative briefing on paddling techniques and boat launching. They use a special boat launch device where you can step off a dock directly into the boat without having to enter the actual water...nice to stay dry! The paddle itself took us along this intercoastal (brackish water) waterway where we saw some really interesting wildlife including many bird varieties and even some muskrats (we may have interrupted them making baby muskrats...sorry Mr. & Mrs.!!!). Coolest part of the wildlife tour was seeing two separate bald eagle nests, both with eaglets inside! Those nests are soooo huge, like 300 pounds and several feet wide! After returning from the 2 hour-ish paddle, Steve and Suzie fired up their firepit to offer us both warmth and a place to have a cookout! We brought along drinks, hot dogs and all the fixings for s'mores and shared them around the group. It was fun getting to know folks a bit better and again the owners were the perfect hosts for the entire adventure. I cannot recommend Ayers Creek Adventures more highly...give them a try for a really fun and unique experience while in the area!

I was here again with my same family of five including two elementary school children. This time I rented two double kayaks for 1 hour at $30 each or $60 total. I also rented one single kayak for one hour or $20. Our total cost was $80 for two doubles and one single kayak in total. This time we traveled south in the bay since the current was moving North. That made it easier for us to kayak back to the kayak base. We returned within one hour. I also purchased a Coastal Kayak hoodie for $40. We agreed we will return here again.

I showed up on the day of my arrival and rented a 10" board with no problems. FYI - the 10" board fit in my compact-size SUV with the headrests removed, front seat down and fin removed. The rental included a paddle and the board also had a leash. I had my own Coast Guard approved lifejacket. I also booked the Burton Island's wildlife guided tour which was a 2-hour tour thru the salt marsh around Burton's Island. Bob (our guide) gave a quick "kayaking 101" before we started and off we went. We had 8 total in our group which was a perfect size for the tour. On the tour we observed ospreys, lots of different types of sea gulls, cormorants who use the bay as a runway before taking off into the blue sky, horseshoe crabs, teeny-tiny fiddler crabs no bigger than a quarter, and little turtles popping up to see what was going on as we were paddling thru the marsh. Bob is a great tour guide with lots of info about the area and wildlife. The meeting point for the tour is the Burton Island's trail head located on the north end of the Indian River Marina inside the Delaware Seashore State Park. For me, it was a short15 minute drive from where I was staying in Fenwick Island. Price wise - the tour and SUP rental were quite reasonable. I will definitely rent from Coastal Kayak the next time I'm in Fenwick Island.
