Meet the Business Owner: Karyn C.
Karyn Craven revels in the eclectic mix of the international rhythms that beat at the heart of her home town of Los Angeles. The second eldest of six and always making things, her parents encouraged her creativity and supported her explorations of the business world early on.
Craven draws most of her inspiration from the realm of the organic, including human cultures from all around the world. After earning a BA in Fine Arts from UCLA's prestigious art program, and with occasional breaks for extended travels and her pursuit of fine art photography, Craven has pursued a lifelong love of the human body, wrapping it in beauty in as many different ways as possible.
Combining her love of the environment and the eclectic into a sustainably focused line, Craven pioneered the idea of upcycling vintage items into new fashion, something that was unheard of at the time she founded Burning Torch.
