It's a nice small beach. Not enough room to do much and it can get crowded. It is a bit more quiet and secluded but I noticed there were more senior citizens there chilling and sun bathing. There are some shaded areas so that's good and they have a little park right by the lake. There is also a hiking trail right on the beach. You do need your lake pass or you won't be able to go in. Plenty of parking.

Small private lake area. Snack bar. Staff was so nice and helpful. Ample parking. Water clean. Shops nearby.

Great spot! Brewery in the same parking lot, quaint beach, but great swimming area. Also a playground for kiddos.

Not real easy to find. Found the locals not too incredibly friendly or welcoming. Nicely kept and clean. Once was enough

This is as well…read moreas Burnt Mill, a private beach so you must show your Lake Arrowhead Association card to get in. Between Burnt Mill and Tavern Bay, Tavern Bay I believe is more child friendly. They've always had a better playground and even better now since they renovated a couple of years ago. Better food consesseion (a must with kids) a larger beach (not so much this year) and a larger swim area. They have a large covered picnic area as well if you want to stay clear of the sun. If you want to paddle board, Tavern Bay is second to Burnt Mill. You cannot use your board in the swim area and where your able to paddle board, the water is typically choppy from the boats so this is where Burnt Mill wins out which has a larger no wake zone and a easy paddle to Lone Pine Island. Tavern Bay also has a large overflow parking lot which is great on a busy weekend.

Looking across the water to the teeny, tiny swimming area buoyed off for UCLA as compared to what you have; makes you feel real fancy. 2. As long as its not glass, they let you pass. Feel like getting nice and buzzed up at 9:00AM then going for a dip to feel fresh water kelp comb between your toes? The world is your oyster my friend (BYOB).

But when they were younger this was the best vacation spot for me, as a parent. The kids are safe and having fun w their peers and super fun camp counselors, and the adults get to partake of the honor bar and wide array of activities. So, whether you want to do every activity available, or you want to spend the entire 4 days resting in your cabin, or somewhere in between, they've got you covered. The daily buffets will leave you (and your pants) feeling like you just came off a cruise ship. The entire staff is amazing. Be sure to tip well! They all deserve it. They have a drop slot at the front desk where you can leave a tip envelope at the end of your stay. I love coming back each year and seeing familiar faces. It's nice that the staff remembers us as well. They take the comment cards seriously, as they are always trying to improve their services. And they do their best to accommodate special requests as well! Just for giggles, I submitted a request for the honor bar via email. And I was very happily surprised when the item I requested was ready and waiting for me! I wish I had known about Bruin woods when I was at ucla. I would've jumped at the chance to be a camp counselor. If you have an affiliation w ucla and you have kids, I highly recommend booking a family holiday or summer week. You will not be disappointed. And you'll want to make this an annual tradition as well!

Very peaceful and relaxing area of the mountains…read more First time visitors as we are here with a group of 18 family and friends. It is a well kept area, clean and quiet dispute all the critters walking around our tent last night including two hollowing ??? About fifty feet away. This is nature after all. Not a big deal to some but for someone that has not camped in over 30 years, I was wide awake most of the night and now, I need a short nap to recharge. Fully recharged after my nap and I am ready to enjoy the this outing once again. We visited this camp ground with a group of eighteen in all and we had a BLAST! We had camp sites 5, 6, 7 and 8. We all had 6-person tents yet had enough room for twenty-tents as our areas combined were HUGE! We played games, bonfires, ate together, used cots, went hiking, visited a public playground less than one mile away and used a zip line, played volleyball and had a picturesque view of Lake Arrowhead. There is also a hospital w/ emergency services directly in front of our camp ground entrance if such services were ever needed. I can definitely see us returning in the near future but for now, the memories we created will stay with us forever.

Hello, the campground was full this weekend. On Thurs I got…read morea wild hair and checked for reservations and coincidentally I got one night only at the best site #19. Incidentally, when we arrived to check-in, we were greated by a delightful Dennis! He was a wealth of knowledge. He rakes each site before the next person comes. Aside from making it clean for the next person...he picks up all tiny trash and food bits we toss around and dont make it into the fire pit. He cleans all of this up which prevents "visitors" while were sleeping. Yes, visitors. Were in nature but it belongs to squirrels, mice, snakes, bears, coyotes and mountain lions. So we took note and did a full look for any bits we left behind so Dennis could just rake and not worry about out food and trash. He's a great guy and youll hear his cart going around checking on things. He is actually security, housekeeping, front desk, greeter, janitor, grounds keeper, friendly neighbor, game warden for the little camp ground, so be respectful bc he lives where he works. If you hate the thought of snakes and bears, stay some place like a city KOA. This area is lush with trees and full of dry brush...(snakes like the brush!) Also bugs werent an issue whatso ever!....we sprayed ourselves with OFF and were fine. Kept tent zipped up in case of critters. We did not see any snakes or bears. Upon departure we saw a coyote in the morning near the entrance doing his own thing. Upon arrival check in with the Delightful Dennis, your camp host. Follow his directions to a T and youll be fine. I keep a bear bell, air horn and utility knife for protection in my tent. No swimming or showers at camp ground... Swim at Lake Gregory!!!- Arrowhead is a no swim lake.

It's worn down and needs upkeep. The map they give to the pool is completely WRONG! The surroundings are beautiful and the temperatures in the evenings are nice, but it's hard to read or watch tv with all the noisy neighbors! And for some reason some units have garages and others don't! We did not get to have one but I don't know why. There seems to be quite a discrepancy between units. Also, only one car per unit is provided with a parking space and any other cars have to park quite a ways away! Because of Covid they had removed all games and books and movies. The unit looks pretty clean but the bathtub upstairs needs some elbow grease and a Mr. Clean eraser! It's dirty! TV channels are very limited and the screen in the living room is TINY!! After spending a week there I still feel they need a lot of upgrading- faucets, fixtures need replacing. The flow of water from the shower head was terrible!! Needs new shower heads and more pressure! The walkway down to the parking needed repairs and the railings needed some scrubbing! We couldn't use the fireplace which was a bummer. It did get quite cool a couple evenings we were there in August. It would have been nice. The kitchen is very tiny but seemed to have all that you would need. We ate out for dinner since two people really couldn't be in the kitchen at the same time! Overall it was an ok space, but with Lake Arrowhead being a private Lake, I'd go somewhere else. Like Big Bear.

The bikes they brought out were the perfect size for each person in our group and they provided helmets. It was about $16/hour for the bike rental. Upon arrival we were helped immediately. From arrival, to waiver signature, and getting on bikes took about 10 minutes. You will need an ID as they hold it until you return with payment. The location is on the north shore and it is easy to find. There was plenty of parking and it's right next to an RV Park with a little liquor store in case you forgot anything. If you didn't bring a drink, pick one up as I did not see any water fountains or bottle fillers on the bike path. The paved bike path is right across the road and it is easy enough. There are some hills, not bad, but not completely flat. You can always walk the bike up if needed. You can ride all the way down the north shore which is mostly undeveloped and absolutely beautiful. We packed a backpack with sandwiches and stopped along the way at picnic tables to eat lunch. Keep in mind for you, your kids, and pets, that it's a little harder to exercise/breathe at high altitudes. There are a few benches to stop and rest as well as a few paths down to the lake. The trail is shared with other bikers, walkers, runners, and a few folks walking dogs. Everyone we encountered was respectful. I knocked one star down because I thought $100+ for one adult and two kid bike rentals for less than 2 hours was a little steep. However, we loved our time on the bike path. The exercise was great and the north shore is beautiful. The trees and lake took our breath away. We will return soon.

9/7/2026 thru 9/9/2025…read more We come to Dogwood every year because we really Love it here. We do the hiking trail twice a day, grill some meats, take Hot showers before bed and sleep in tents. It is beautiful here, the facilities are clean and most importantly you can take Free HOT showers. This year we planned to stay two nights at Campsite #87. But left early, only staying the one night leaving around 1pm on 9/8/2025. During the night around 1am we heard someone or an animal walking around outside our tent. (We have Never experienced any kind of wild life animal or people walking into our campsite before. This was the first time this happened to us). The steps were light and almost human. The light grunting and chewing on what sounded like twigs or maybe acorns and light heavy breathing is what made us realize it was not human. But we were not sure and all of us were scared to look outside. After staying still and playing dead for two to three hours we finally fell asleep and woke up around 5:30am. And started our day. Went for a hike and came back to our tent / campground. HUGE Black Bear encounter. We got back to our campsite before 10ish, ate, relaxed and were drinking tea. When suddenly out of no where I saw a huge Black Bear just casually strolling into our neighbors campsite walking past their RV camper and headed we towards the garbage dumpsters or towards the Rimforest high school. We Jumped into our car and stayed there until the bear was out of site. Then we met with the Park ranger and let them know that we just saw the Black bear. Park ranger then confirmed that the bear was also here last night. And that that there was a Mountain Lion lurking around as well. So we had to be on high alert and if we see the mountain lion to hide or get in your car. I gave my family members one look and within one second we agreed to pack up and head back home. Although we know bears can be seen whenever you go hiking or camping. We never expected it to actually ever happen to us. So to be safe we had to cut our trip short.
