Very peaceful and relaxing area of the mountains. First time visitors as we are here with a group of 18 family and friends. It is a well kept area, clean and quiet dispute all the critters walking around our tent last night including two hollowing ??? About fifty feet away. This is nature after all. Not a big deal to some but for someone that has not camped in over 30 years, I was wide awake most of the night and now, I need a short nap to recharge. Fully recharged after my nap and I am ready to enjoy the this outing once again. We visited this camp ground with a group of eighteen in all and we had a BLAST! We had camp sites 5, 6, 7 and 8. We all had 6-person tents yet had enough room for twenty-tents as our areas combined were HUGE! We played games, bonfires, ate together, used cots, went hiking, visited a public playground less than one mile away and used a zip line, played volleyball and had a picturesque view of Lake Arrowhead. There is also a hospital w/ emergency services directly in front of our camp ground entrance if such services were ever needed. I can definitely see us returning in the near future but for now, the memories we created will stay with us forever. read more

Booked this campground for 3 nights, in large part for the hot showers. The showers and bathroom facilities are frankly disgusting and not something we would us, nor would our friends who were there with us. The staff was rude and provided the typical "we don't provide refunds" when we told them respectfully we we're leaving after the first night. The campground was a wierd mix of what looked liked full-time campers but mostly no one was occupying the sites that there campers and belongings were left at. Post apocalyptic vibe, can you say ghost town. North Shore Campground is a dusty one and done for us. Caveat emptor. read more

Hello, the campground was full this weekend. On Thurs I got a wild hair and checked for reservations and coincidentally I got one night only at the best site #19. Incidentally, when we arrived to check-in, we were greated by a delightful Dennis! He was a wealth of knowledge. He rakes each site before the next person comes. Aside from making it clean for the next person...he picks up all tiny trash and food bits we toss around and dont make it into the fire pit. He cleans all of this up which prevents "visitors" while were sleeping. Yes, visitors. Were in nature but it belongs to squirrels, mice, snakes, bears, coyotes and mountain lions. So we took note and did a full look for any bits we left behind so Dennis could just rake and not worry about out food and trash. He's a great guy and youll hear his cart going around checking on things. He is actually security, housekeeping, front desk, greeter, janitor, grounds keeper, friendly neighbor, game warden for the little camp ground, so be respectful bc he lives where he works. If you hate the thought of snakes and bears, stay some place like a city KOA. This area is lush with trees and full of dry brush...(snakes like the brush!) Also bugs werent an issue whatso ever!....we sprayed ourselves with OFF and were fine. Kept tent zipped up in case of critters. We did not see any snakes or bears. Upon departure we saw a coyote in the morning near the entrance doing his own thing. Upon arrival check in with the Delightful Dennis, your camp host. Follow his directions to a T and youll be fine. I keep a bear bell, air horn and utility knife for protection in my tent. No swimming or showers at camp ground... Swim at Lake Gregory!!!- Arrowhead is a no swim lake. read more

This was for lot #8 on this campground. It's not far from the bathroom and the trash. There is a picnic table and the fire pit with some trees that gave us some shades. When it got warmer, literally mosquito hell. Bring your bug spray and bath in it. Good enough space for at least 2 big tents. We had 6 person tent that was able to fit comfortably under the tree. There is a small trail not far from the campground, and an off road trail. You can walk maybe 15-25 mins through the trail and you can get to the fenced dog park too. The people who takes care of this campground were very responsive and nice. Check in was easy and they sell firewood too. Recommend for a little getaway place. read more

Just finished first trip to North Shore Campground am I am pleased with the area. I had site 14 and I very much liked it for many reasons. First and most of all this site has shade in both the mornings and the afternoon!!! Second it is a fairly large triangle site so lots of room. It's close to bathrooms, has a water outlet on the edge of the site. Had a pretty good experience here. We stayed at #20. It was one of the smaller sites, which was perfect for two people or a small group. The check in process was fast and smooth. Everything was convenient and accessible. The restrooms were 100 feet away. Water spout and trashcan were right next to our site. You can definitely see and hear other groups of campers, but there was a good amount of space and privacy. I guess the only downsides were that there was no shower and the views were just alright. There were some hiking trails nearby but that's about it. read more

I stayed here for two nights with a friend, and we reserved site #9, but accidentally set up at site #19, because the number one of the 19 was washed out and hard to read. It was a pain having to move all stuff and tents to another site after setting up, so be sure to double check your site number before you set up! Site #9 is right next to the restroom, and the showers were closed due to COVID, but there was still flushing toilets and the sink available. Your site has a picnic table, fire ring, and access to a water spigot with running water. This site doesn't have that much shade during the day time, so be sure to bring a canopy or umbrella. There's firewood for sale at the front entrance for $8 a bundle. The camp host is friendly. I ended up with a lot of bug bites, and our site had dry brush, which kept having pieces breaking off and getting into my socks and poking me. It was also pretty windy when we were there. The downtown Lake Arrowhead area is pretty close, and there's a decent amount of shops and restaurants. The view of the lake itself is beautiful. Overall, had a great time, and we enjoyed a hike nearby. It's nice to getaway and be out in nature! read more

If your camp closes at 10pm, wouldn't you tell that to your customers booking online? It should be posted as instructions on the Confirmation that you won't be allowed to camp if you are later than 10pm. Instead, they burry this info in the tiny bottom of a webpage that isn't involved in the online reservation. We were late and not allowed in, and refused refund. I wonder how many customers get this treatment. No one even seemed to be there camping and yet reservation showed only 4 spaces left. We didn't see anyone there!!! read more

Had a great time here at Northshore campground site #12 Host Shawn is a new host and helped out with any questions and parking concerns during this 4th of july weekend. The campground is next to hosiptal and lake, so you get those beautiful lake views driving up. This campground has no showers, but flush restrooms near by are kept clean and stocked. Site #12 did have large slope but we managed and wasnt unbearable. It also is a first come first serve site. Supposedly better than the others. Restroom/dumpster is right accross from site #12, very convenient. I would recommend reservation on site #11 high elevation and flate. Also across from restrooms. Aesthetically not as beautiful as dogwood, you dont get as many big tall pine trees for shade. Also lake is private, only beach area is for residents only. read more

Just wrapped up a camping trip at North Shore. We had site #27 which is a double site. Perfect for 2 cars and 8 people. Not lots of shade late morning and afternoon. The shade that was available was by a tree that had 3 snakes in it! We learned they were gopher snakes, but who really wants to hangout by a tree with snakes in it? Site is on a hill so you have to walk up and down to the restroom. Site is secluded but next to a trail, Devil's Hole. Lots of dirt bikes and off roading vehicles. Spent a quick two nights up in the woods and this site has it all. It's close to restaurants and amenities if you don't want to go too far off the grid, but it also FEELS remote. Best of both worlds, for me. Sean (Shaun?) the site host is accommodating and welcoming and knowledgable. He'll also show you some of his card magic if you're cool. So I like to go camping at least once a year. It's sort of a new thing for me. I did it last year, and I did it again this year. I even have a reservation to go camping again in August. Anyway...so for the 4th of July our family and friends (like 14 of us) stayed at the North Shore campgrounds in Lake Arrowhead, CA. We had a blast! I have to say that this campsite was great. We had campsite #14, I suggest you reserve that one. It's large and it's near the entrance so you don't have to go so far when you do want to venture out and rive to the Lake Arrowhead Village. The North Shore hiking trail is only a few step away from the campgrounds. That was a hike from hell! Getting back up the mountain made me realize how out of shape I am. Not only is the hiking trail nearby, but behind the campground there's an off-road trail if you want to take your 4x4 jeep or truck out for a spin. You have to take Torrey road to get to the entrance of that trail though. That led to a fork in the road that had even more trails to explore and a spectacular view. Beverly was our campgrounds coordinator. She was very nice and very helpful. At the campsite, we had a large space, fire pit, and large picnic table. The restrooms were pretty close by too. Speaking the restrooms, they looked almost brand new. They were as cleans as you get for a public campsite restroom. What amazed me was that the bricks new new and everything worked well. The only thing that you don't get at this campsite are showers. If it had showers, then it would get a definite 5 stars. Would I stay here again? Definitely! read more

I stayed here over the weekend and had an awesome time! Overall, the campground is small and the camp sites are pretty close to each other. I did some research on Yelp and chose sites #22 and # 23 because we wanted two sites that were near water, the restrooms and each other. They were the perfect sites for our group. Site #21 is nearby yet somewhat secluded from #22 and #23. Choose #21 if you want a site more to yourself. There were a few flat areas for the tents but definitely not a lot to choose from. Bring a blow up bed for sure! Our sites did have shade which was cool as surrounding sites did not have shade. Each site has a fire pit and a wooden picnic table. The fire pits aren't the best for cooking but do the job. I recommend bringing a bigger grate to put over the fire pit as you can't cook too much food at a time. The North Shore Campground is close to the hospital (which has it's pros and cons). The sites we chose seemed like you were out of the city and in an isolated area which made feel like you were in the middle of nowhere. The bathrooms near us did NOT have lights so you definitely need a flashlight or lantern even during the day. There are no showers which is a bummer but it is what it is. The trash bin is close by. The ranger was very friendly. They do sell firewood there on site for $8 a bundle. I'd definitely come back here when camping near Lake Arrowhead! read more

They are completly mistreating their guests! Family has been coming here for decades. This place means a lot to us and we spend thousands of dollars each season for the family to enjoy. Now our family members aren't allowed to go, we are harassed by the workers, Managers are telling us conflicting info, check in workers have discriminated against some of us & they're refusing us access to our seasonal spot despite being family members on our list of approved guests. We stayed at site #21 based on other yelp reviews and it was BY FAR one of the best options. Close to the restrooms which was great for our 6 year old, but not close enough you can smell them. There is plenty of space in this spot and the neighbors weren't close. We weren't visible to the road or other campers unless we walked up to our car. There was plenty of trees and reasonably flat ground. At mid day it does get hit with some direct sunlight, but the majority of the day we were well covered. Restrooms are clean (for a campground) and seemed to be restocked daily. THERE WAS NO SOAP. Luckily we had brought our own, but be sure to bring some with you. It IS close to the town so there was the occasional helicopter/car noise more than we've experienced at other sites but it was manageable. The nearby trail seemed to be a long path outwards rather than a loop, so think ahead and leave your car at one end otherwise you'll have to turn back about halfway through which was a pain. Site #25 was teeny tiny and had NO shade, beware #22 and #23 were real close to each other but looked okay #10 and #11 seemed decent, though not hidden. They would probably be our second option if 21 wasn't taken, but again 21 is the best option by our standards. read more

Nice campgrounds and the best sites in my opinion because of the shade throughout the day are 19, 21, 22, and 24. Three stars because the evening curfew is not enforced and people were not aware of how everyone can hear them. I am okay until 12, then I really want to sleep. The hospital had someone life flighted in after it finally got quiet. The hospital is ¼ mile away. And if that was not enough to disturb a good night's sleep, there was a truck at the hospital constantly backing up and the warning bepp, beep, beep was constant from 5-5:45 AM. It looks like they are expanding the hospital or some kind of construction. The host was very nice checking us in at our campsite around 5PM. Still, a nice spot near the lake which is a short walk to an overlook with a bench. read more

We made a reservation for Wednesday to Friday. We got here and some of the spots were clearly labeled and some weren't. The host campsite is the first one you see next to the info boards. To make a long story short we had to ask our neighbors their numbers to find ours because the host wasn't around. 2pm (check in time) comes around Thursday and no host has still been seen. Because we are the closest site you can see from the main road people kept asking us if we've seen a host or what they do to check in or get a spot. We finally call the only number we can find and they direct us to someone. At this point we were worried the host had gone out and got hurt or something had happened. A few hours later a nice older lady shows up and tells us we will probably see our host the next day and that her and her husband manage a few sites in the area. Not even an hour after she leaves the host pulls up in their beaten up RV and the elder couple spends the next 2 hours yelling at the top of their lungs. "F*** you I do everything to the f*** away" and so on. So this campsite was super peaceful and fun until the hosts showed up 36 hours later to fight so loud it echoed through the trees. Other down side is the hospital is so close when we were there there was construction and at 7am the sounds of beeping trucks backing up rang through the campsite until about 4pm. Close to shops and there is a way down to the lake, you just have to ask locals how :) read more

This campground was perfectly nice and had clean bathrooms that were well lit (and had toilet paper, what what!) The sites were decently sized (although not totally flat) and clean (including the fire pits and the picnic tables!) I did not like that the reservation site said our space (#19) had space for two cars and really didn't (we had a Prius and a Mini Cooper and we almost didn't fit) Our fire pit was also under a tree which was slightly worrisome. The park ranger did come by to check us in, however, which was nice to know someone is maintaining the campsite. The trail leading out of the campsite is great - very beautiful with great views and cool sites to see, and it leads you to Splinter's Cabin where you can hike in to several swimming holes. The campsite is right next to a hospital and is close to the main road, which I can see as a detractor but it was nice for us because we needed to run to town to get ice at one point and it was close by! Another detractor was that this campsite was VERY LOUD. Lots of people up WELL beyond quiet hours (until 1 am partying) and kids up VERY EARLY screaming and yelling. Obviously it might be the people that were there when we were there, but it was a little frustrating! Overall, I'd recommend this site to anyone looking to hike in and around Lake Arrowhead, and would probably stay again if I head back up that way! read more

Came here for my first camping trip in August. We were able to sang a last minute cancellation which worked out very well for us. Overall, the cost was great and the area beautiful. Site was very family friendly, with paved roads, picnic tables, and fire pits. Bathroom and and shared water faucet was very close by. Only let downs were that the sites are rather close to one another and some campers with younger children were a little loud. We had also wanted to go swimming that weekend but were sorely dissatisfied with the quality of the lake at nearby Lake George which was very murky and Lake Arrowhead which seemed to be exclusively for boating. read more

Decided to do a short overnight camping trip with friends, and most campgrounds were booked for the weekend but this one had availability. It's a small, clean campground. They have flushable toilets and running water, the sites are kinda close to eachother but our site, site 21 wasn't too bad we had decent privacy from site 22 and 23. The cars are really close to eachother though. Site 21 is also close to the restroom but not too close so that you hear everything. The hosts were really nice and gave us a map. There is a trail right behind site 11 that can take you to Aztec Falls but it's a 5 hr r.t hike. Or you can drive to splinters cabin 20 minutes away (dirt road partially) and hike from there which is only 30 min hike. Believe them when they say it's rattlesnake country! There was literally a huge rattlesnake 2 feet from my foot as I was wearing flip flops, it came out from under our picnic table at night time! There are no bear boxes so you have to just put the food in your car. The site is mostly oak trees I think, not much pine trees. Our site was nicely shaded most of the day, but it does get pretty warm up there during the day. You are walking distance from the hospital and a short drive to the town. We scavenged for firewood but you can always buy some on site or at Jensens market.I would come back to camp here, it was really relaxing. I would have given it 5 stars but it's really close to the town and hospital and you can hear traffic, also has light pollution so can't see as many stars as if we were deeper into the forest. read more

If you're looking for really secluded campsites, North Shore has many to choose from. The area is filled with pines and oaks making this chaparral region rustic and relaxing. In terms of aesthetics, though, it's a bit too dull to the eye (or camera lens) for my taste. I suggest bringing a bike to get you around. The camp host has firewood, so if you're pressed for room in the car you might as well pick some up when you get there. Another plus are the great big picnic tables, not so great: terrible bugs flying about during the day. Prepare to shower yourselves in deet. read more

I paid and registered for two nights (for a campsite) around noon, I was a walk-in. I placed my ticket on the site and left to do some shopping at the village. When I came back someone was in my spot, the camp host let me know that he made a mistake and put me in a different site and gave me my money back. The next day a lady came up to me and told me I had to leave. I explained the situation but she said I still had to leave because they had a reservation coming in and I got my money back. Decent spots but managed really poorly. Camping's suppose to be fun, doesn't seem to difficult. read more

I camped here with my family for one night. Upon arrival there was a sign on the door that masks were required in the building when checking in, but not a single worker had a mask on. The campsites were small and very close together. The water level is down and therefore it was a little smelly and the "water front" campsites were not exactly water front. In addition, the cost was much higher than any campsite I have been to. Overall, the campsite wouldn't be bad if it was better described on the website. The website is deceiving that the campsites are right on the water when in reality (at least this time of year) they are quite a ways from the water. I don't see why these campsites are about $60 a night when all other in the area are $15-$20. We don't have interest in coming back. read more

We stayed at camp site #12 and had a good time. We wanted to get up early the next morning to drive part way and hike to Aztec Falls and this place was the closest to it. Be sure to brings sweats and plenty of blankets for the night. Even though it's super hot during the day, it can really sneak up on you temperature wise when the sun goes down. The bathrooms smelled good and were kept up pretty well. The site is literally right across from a hospital and we had full cell phone reception. Even though it kind of ruined the "camping" feeling, we had a good time. The town of Lake Arrowhead is super cute and you will find a grocery store, gas station, 7/11, and even a starbucks. But, the drive up and down the mountain is very time consuming so unless you're a road warrior, I can't imagine anyone wanting to drive from the campground to town and vice versa regularly. read more

In the state (that's what we get for a last minute Thursday decision to go camping on that weekend at the end of the summer). Good facilities (restrooms, water, fire rings with a half grate, and picnic tables). Trail access from the campground. Friendly host. Lots of weird potholes pocked the site (7). Partial shade at most sites, but no clear delineation of tent spaces. Not a particularly clean campground, lots of litter. read more

This camp ground was good but it's kind of slanted the site is, no flat ground for the tent but I managed. Big picnic table, just bathrms no showers and camp site #3 has a ton of shade. It said partial shade I got it hesitantly when I got there I was surprised by how much shade there was. I was also near camp sites 1,2,4,5 and 6. 6 has no shade at all your in full sun. The lake is close by its fun if you have lake rights, the village is 3miles away and it's a fun place to visit. I would definitely come back to this camp ground read more

Super cute site. Bathrooms were super clean. Close enough to the lake arrowhead village (about 15 min drive), which was very convenient. Close to lake Gregory for swimming. Do not plan on bringing more than 2-3 cars, since parking is limited. We had 4 cars and had to pack them in but it was no problem. It was a nice quiet area tucked away, but not too far from civilization, stores, etc. drinking water was available which was great. Attendant was really great! We planned on staying 5 days but changed it to 12 days because this was such a great spot. Did some Kayaking and lots of walking along with golf at Bailey Creek. Overall, we liked the North Shore Campground near Lake Arrowhead. It's a place we'd go back to in a pinch, mostly because of its proximity to Los Angeles. A few tips: *Don't buy firewood from that nursery on 173. They're charging $12 a bundle, which is so comical, I nearly laughed out loud when she said that. Plus, they're selling pine. Pine! That goes up in smoke almost instantly. Here's what you do: drive about 5 miles up the road (pass Hospital Road and all that). Eventually you'll see a sign for a wood mill. Turn in there and they'll load you up right. The guy there charged me $5 a bundle, but I'm pretty sure we got waaaaay more than that. The owner suggests calling ahead, since there's not always someone there: 909.677.9047. *The camp host is also reasonably priced at $7. Jensen's is no good, either. I don't know what they charge, but it's all pine and nothing else. *DO NOT use Google Maps to get here. They're going to send you off on some crazy forest service road, which is really great for the shocks on my Honda. Thank you, Google. Just go up 173 and turn right on Hospital Road. Any other directions are stupid. *I took a look around the campgrounds and based on appearances, site #20 is the best one. It's not in shade, but if you have a canopy, you can kick back and enjoy an amazing view of the mountains. The things we liked about this place: *Camp host is super nice and helpful. *Campsites are large and fairly private. We could hear other people (especially the jackass who felt that his campsite was the perfect place to blast Leta Ford and Ozzy Osbourne), but it was generally quiet in terms of hearing other people. *Big picnic tables. *The bathrooms are very, very clean. They even smell good! When have you ever said that about a campsite bathroom? Never, probably. *If you're running low on wood, you can gather anything on the ground. Nice if you're in a pinch. *There's water. *Dog friendly. *Near town if you want to get outside of camp and go see the area or just load up on some things you forgot. The things we weren't so crazy about: *The grills on the fire rings are teeny, tiny and grossly malformed. This isn't a campground made for people who like to cook adventurously when they camp. *Our site (#22) was listed as "partial shade," which pretty much meant a sliver of shade between two trees. Do not get partial shade sites if you don't have a canopy (like us...whaaaa!). *You can hear the road from many of the campsites, and you can hear the boats in the lake during the day as well. *Our view wasn't terribly inspiring, as it looked right over the hospital. Again, campsite #20 seems to have the nicest view. *The obnoxious little drama-prone five-year-old at the campsite down the hill. Kids like that affirm my decision to not be a parent to anything other than dogs. Chances are you won't encounter him, though, so never mind this point. But still, I hate that kid! *Again, not North Shore's fault, but Google Maps sent us on a wild goose chase. Use the directions given on Recreation.gov (which are essentially: take the 173 to Hospital Road and follow it right up). *No signage in the campgrounds. Once we finally found it, we had to drive all over looking for our site. Even the numbers on the posts are hard to read from the road. Not fun after a long drive. read more

This is one of our favorite weekend escapes when we want pines and squirrels. It's a small campground with only about half of the sites big enough for a trailer. We have a tent trailer, so we can fit easily into the RV-designated sites, but some are quite short if you have a bigger trailer/rig. With the exception of a few sites, most of the sites are right on top of each other, so that's great if you're with others, not so great if it's just you. Site #27, the "double-suite," is up on a ridge (with a lake view) away from the rest of the sites, but not near bathrooms or water. The trailhead to the Little Bear Creek Trail is in the campground and is a nice hike. The campground is only about a 10-minute drive to Arrowhead Village. read more

Just camped on site 10. The campgrounds are clean and there is a restroom very close by. When we arrived we were warned that there is a high rattlesnake population in and around the site we were at, however, we didn't come across any (thank the goodness!).
