I've never had smoked oxtails and I don't know how I've lived this long without. All the meats were so tender and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. The Mac and cheese is dangerously good, green beans were so flavorful - cooked down like collard greens. My boyfriend and I don't really care for carbs but man that dirty rice is addictive and complements so well with the oxtails. Service is quick, attentive. Ambiance is chill. My boyfriend is so sad he doesn't have access to this place back home and is already planning the next time we will be back. I'll definitely be back by myself ;-)

The food was delicious. The oxtails were unlike anything I've had before, like a mix between brisket and ribs. The brisket was tender, moist and not dry. The ribs were chew off the bone and hearty. I also liked their sausage. A little kick, smoke and perfectly cooked. The dirty rice was delicious as a side. The Mac was good too, but the rice stole the show. Michelle was super friendly. She engaged us in conversation and taught us about their operation with catering and smoking the delicious food. We'll be back and will certainly take advantage of the Tuesday special. Can't wait to try the banana pudding next

The restaurant is located inside a food hall with several other food vendors, and there was plenty of parking available, which was convenient. I ordered the Texan brisket sandwich with mac and cheese, along with brisket nachos (not pictured). Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. My entire meal NOT hot nor warm enough to feel freshly prepared. The brisket tasted like it had been sitting for a while--it wasn't fresh, tender, or flavorful like you'd expect from a good BBQ spot. Having visited several great BBQ restaurants over the years, this one just didn't measure up. The one highlight was the cornbread cake, which was actually very good and probably the best part of the meal. Overall, I was really looking forward to trying this place, but it didn't live up to the expectations. Based on this experience, I wouldn't return.

3 Stars - Decent BBQ, But Room for Improvement…read more Pat's Barbecue 155 W Commonwealth Ave. Salt Lake City, UT 84115 Visited: June 18, 2026, around 3:00 PM This was my first time trying Pat's Barbecue while visiting Salt Lake City. We arrived around 3:00 PM and, surprisingly, were literally the only customers in the restaurant. It's a fairly large establishment, so I'm hoping business picks up considerably during the lunch and dinner rushes. Overall, the meal was decent, but it didn't quite live up to expectations. Our order included two Pulled Pork Sandwiches ($12.99 each), a Classic Burger ($16.99) with Pepper Jack Cheese ($1.00) and Onion Rings ($2.49), plus baked beans, jambalaya, and drinks. The total came to $66.55 before tip. The highlight of the meal was definitely the baked beans. They were flavorful, well-seasoned, and probably the best thing on the table. The pulled pork sandwiches were just okay. The pork seemed a little dry and somewhat overcooked, and the buns could definitely be upgraded. A better-quality bun would have gone a long way toward improving the sandwich. The onion rings were disappointing. They tasted overdone and didn't seem particularly fresh. They lacked the crisp, light texture I was hoping for. As for the service, it was not up to par. With no other customers in the restaurant, I expected a little more attentiveness and hospitality. The service wasn't terrible, but it certainly wasn't memorable in a positive way. In the end, Pat's Barbecue delivered an acceptable meal, but there were enough issues with the food quality and service that I can only give it 3 stars. If I'm back in the area, I might give it another try and see how it compares during a busier time of day, but based on this visit, it was simply average.

The exterior is a fire engine red that really catches your attention and makes you wanna walk in. The interior of the restaurant is definitely, well, let's call it à la cart. It is so full of stuff that it feels like a fish and tackle gas station/convenience stop on a dusty country highway. I think this is on purpose, but they lay it on thick. The people who work here are polite if not extremely talkative, but here's the problem ... for as delicious as it smells, the barbecue is really DRY. I tried it twice just to make sure I didn't experience an anomaly. This place is all wrapped up in just the right kind of strangeness, but I'm sad to say the product is not as interesting.
