This place is it. This place is the real deal and what we've been looking for since moving to Utah. The young man at the counter was super helpful. We each got a 3 meat plate and the portions were massive. I got the smoked oxtail, brisket, and chicken with Mac and cheese and dirty rice. Smoked oxtail in Texas isn't super common. I've only ever had it braised from Haitian restaurants when living in Miami. But the smoked oxtail with the dirty rice was so perfect together. The oxtail just came right off the bone and I didn't even have to use the knife to cut it apart. The Mac and cheese was incredible. The brisket was sliced nice and thin and so tender that even the lean part of the slice broke in half with just my fork. Every time I went to pick up a piece it just fell apart. I do wish that the bark was thicker and more peppery because it's so nice to cut through the fat but that's my personal preference. It was cooked right, sliced right, and seasoned perfectly. The chicken was actually a thigh and a leg! Used my fork to pull meat right off the bone. Juicy and flavorful. My husband got the sausage, ribs, and brisket. As I made my pilgrimage from California, eating my meal was like having a religious experience. I watch Les on YouTube almost everyday for a long time; got into smoking my own meats as a result. (Overcooked & tad Mushy) The ox tail had plentiful meat and fat ( I don't like fat of any animal). I only ate half of one, my friend ate one, other two went to waste. The potato salad was enjoyable! 4/5 The Mac and cheese (2.5/5) taste as if it was a day old, and the butter was separating; (it appeared to be sitting in oil, thick cheese parts was stuck together verses following throughout.) Flavor was good, texture of pasta was good, freshness has room for opportunity. My baked potato (2/5) came out cold. So much so that it gave me hiccups. Owen offer a refund or to suffice my request by heating it up in microwave. Which the flavor was great at first. But when it was returned to me, a rub seasoning was place on it, which was very overwhelming, while inhaling it at every bite effect my throat, ( which was already tender/irritated/sore). I tolerated it because I was hungry and the temp was pleasant. I ate almost half. I had to request extra butter (which was a liquid butter), sour cream, cheese, and barbecue sauce. It came without sauce and you have to choice to add your own sauce. Overall the potato flavor was there it was most so the temperature, and dryness. Cold and dry. (More than half went to waste) Extra details::: ((One thing we were informed was that some of the food was prepared in a different location, third party and sent to the restaurant. I think that's the problem. That company could be making its days before.)) The two ladies who were from Detroit to try this spot, said the ox tails are great.m, potato salad good. But they threw away both of the side of beans ($7/ea side), two cut of ribs, dirty rice (overcooked/ mushy). I wish I had a photo of all the food they trashed. Wasn't super impressed with this place -- especially for the price. The guy serving us was friendly and helpful. No restroom (or place to wash your hands)-- was told to go over to Hot Dog on a Stick. Seating is mostly outside, which is fine if the weather cooperates. Corn bread was dry, brisket was dry, mac & cheese was served cold,l. The chicken was ok. The flavor was unreal and tasted like real Texas barbecue done right. The mac and cheese was fire, the portions were generous, and the price was absolutely reasonable. Customer service was on point from start to finish. I ordered a two-meat plate, was completely stuffed, and still had enough to take home for dinner. The only thing I could even remotely say as feedback is I wish there was Texas-style corn or cornbread but that's me really reaching for something to be critical about. I have seen so many videos about the oxtails at Les BBQ so I made the drive to Draper after a few days in SLC for the oxtails and ordered the three-meat plate with two sides. The oxtails were definitely the highlight -- seasoned well and very enjoyable, so tender it did not have the smoke I thought it would compared to the Brisket. Which had good flavor, just a bit dry for my taste, and the ribs weren't quite the style I'm used to back home. Sides were okay overall, with the potato salad being on the sweeter side. If you like your soda warm and your food cold....this is your place. We were so excited to try this place based on other reviews. OUr experience wasn't so positive. We got two half baked potatoes, brisket, pulled pork and ribs. We were told there ws no ice for the sodas but it would come out of the fountain cold. Not so. Room temp at best. I asked for a cup of water. "oh we don't have tap water." So we buy a bottle of water. At least that was cold. The food comes and the potato was cold. I asked for some salt and pepper. Finally made my way to Les! On the way back from running some errands I decided to go in and pick up my meal to go. I went with the 2 meat plate. For the meats I got ribs and the oxtail (Extra $7). I never had oxtail before and I needed to know what the buzz was all about. For my sides I went with the beans and Mac and cheese. The meal comes with a spicy sauce and bbq sauce. Sweet, spicy, Brisket! Delicious tender beans, with the right amount of sweetness and peppery notes. The nice pieces of brisket in it are so delicious. Definitely my favorite side. Famous Smoked Oxtail: 4/5 - First time trying Smoked oxtail. Tender, juicy, fatty. Honestly reminded me of short ribs. It has its own unique flavor. Delicious with the bbq sauce and the spicy sauce. To me it was one of the things you have to try, but I don't know if I'd order again given the fact I have other meats I still have to try at Les and also because I felt I got more flavors out of the Ribs. Personal opinion here... Mac N' Cheese: 4/5 - Good Mac N' Cheese. I hyped myself up for this one based on some reviews I read. Honestly, I found it to be just a regular Mac n cheese. I wanted to be head over heals with this restaurant, but my head stayed firmly in place. My family and I went for lunch and spent seventy eight dollars for the three of us to get a meal and drinks. I get that food prices have gone up, but I wasn't prepared for that total. The dining area was pretty packed with very little room to wait for your food. The tables were all claimed, but not full. One table had four chairs and a single guy happily eating his food by himself. That's not the restaurant's fault, but it did annoy me that he was taking up a table when people were clearly standing around looking for a place to sit. We ended up at a table for two and my wife stood to eat. The food itself was ok. The portion sizes were not in proportion to the price and the beans, although flavorful, were lukewarm. The meat was tasty as was the BBQ sauce, but there could have been more sauce-we all ran out.
