This place has a rough crowd of patrons both inside and out. Apparently, they have a problem with customers drinking on the bus bench right out front. Might not wanna shop here at night. Not a huge place by any means, and they only had maybe 3 store pick bourbons the day I visited. Prices are okay, nothing special. I got neighborhood liquor store vibes from here, but without the friendly customer service. The old dude working wasn't friendly at all and was grumpy when we asked him to price a bottle for us that had no displayed price. Dude...do you wanna sell any bottles or not? Not like you have anything I can't find elsewhere. We took our dollars over to Gibby's instead. I'd only shop here if Ii had to for convenience. Absolutely not at all worth a special trip to check it out. We also didn't get clean store vibes; seemed kinda disorganized and dirty with dusty bottles and all different varieties of whisky mixed up in various sections. There's a decent size parking lot in back with maybe 10 spaces available. read more

I paid for some bourbons, after paying 710.00 and it was 10-13 emails later Steve said I have to pay for insurance. I asked why this wasnt on its original tab. He couldn't answer. I have contacted the State Liquor Commission, and they are going to investigate what's going on there. read more

I had a bad experience at Burris, I am local and to went in to buy local, I saw that the Basil Hayden Bourbon was on sale for $40.00 vs regular price of $43.99 so I picked up a bottle, when I got up to the register 3 I noted That the price was $43.99, he refused to honor the sales prices and said that is what is and he would not chahge, he was not nice an a shit about it and did not care. I went to Cosco and paid $33.99/ bottle for Basil Hayden and will not go to Burris again. I want to deal local but they are not a place you want to deal. They could give a shit about local customers. read more

Was very agitated that the price of an item was listed at 22.99, but magically when I went to the check out it was ringing up as $28.99....the guy even went over and took off the sticker and replaced it with the higher price. He & another co-worker said "that price was from a sale yesterday..." They did not offer to keep the price that was advertised. Very poor customer service. Albert is the embodiment of hospitable, and Kelly went out of his way to assist me with several hard-to-come-by bottles of bourbon. Not only did he hold a bottle of Elmer T Lee for me, (that no other store in the area had, except a guy who had it on his shelves for $129.00 - a 350% mark up) until I could drive down, I was taken aback by the bourbon selection at Burris. In addition, he went into the back and pulled a couple of more rare bottles for me... and for the BEST PRICES I've come across to date. Brevity is the name of game here with this staff. They aren't very friendly. The store isn't very appealing. The parking lot is small and can be a pain to navigate. The only appeal of the place is the prices they charge. And be prepared to pay cash or to write a check since they discourage paying with a credit card. read more

Popped in yesterday to check out the bourbon selection. What a find!! They had some awesome bottles on the shelf that I have not seen anywhere in a long time and they were priced as they should be. This place is absolutely terrible. One of the worst stores in town because they only cater to bums and drug addicts who come in 10 times a day or young rough types only in the store taking up space trying to cash their work checks. They make all of their money through wholesale business to local bars and restaurants so walk-in retail business is not a priority and they treat their rare decent customers like garbage. Their employees are all nice people but all of them have been working there for decades with no raises or respect or value with the exception of the store manager Kelly Burris who is completely unprofessional, incompetent and disrespectful in his position and only has the job because of his family and his deep lack of ability to do anything else. They claim to have the best whiskey selection and prices in Charleston but that's far from true; all of their specialty allocations are reserved for big bar business or personal friends so if you're a customer looking to spend money on rare bottles they will lie to your face or they simply won't let you buy any of them. They have a pathetic wine selection and they are constantly calling the police on people loitering outside, fighting, harassing people for money or being too drunk to function because the store is so desperate to take everyone's $2 they serve the same individual several times in a row. Overall this business should not even function as a retail destination and every other store in town offers an infinitely better customer experience- better selection, better prices and you don't have to deal with someone as incoherently unqualified as Kelly Burris. read more
