The shittiest place to eat if you're in Mexico. Born and raised in Mexico, living in California, with a middle Easter boyfriend, this is BY FAR THE WORST BURRITO PLACE EVER! Feel sorry for those people who are amazed and impressed with these burritos. Overpriced for what it is. You literally just come here for the ambiance, but you get this ambiance with any restaurant you go to in Tulum. I don't get how people can travel to Tulum to eat this, you can get this anywhere in America for half the price. My boyfriend and I came here to eat a burrito for dinner, and the first they do is try to sell you wine because that's what the ambiance is for. We just wanted a burrito and we were sooo disappointed....it's just rice with shrimp. If you're not coming here to drink wine, expect to receive poor service from the staff. Located on the main road through tulum, I'd normally be afraid it's just a tourist trap (you pass by a ton of shops selling hats, sandals, woven bags and dreamcatchers on the way there - don't get me wrong, items are beautiful but I kept wondering to myself if it's the tulum version of those trinket shops outside Times Square). Luckily, I think the reputation for this place from folks who have visited Tulum precedes it so thankfully we weren't choosing blindly and had sought this spot out. It didn't disappoint and was a great and casual way to kick off our trip in Tulum. We got a round of margaritas, which were delicious and served promptly, followed by a round of El pastor burritos (among the best I've had- comes wrapped in banana leaves). Not massive but certainly filling, especially if you get a round of guac to share. Came out to 1600 pesos (or about $85 for a group of girls for tasty drinks and food- so about $14 a person). We loved this burrito spot in the Tulum city. It's quite a drive from the hotel zone but it was nice since we were away on that side of town visiting the Gran Cenote. Holy. Burrito. We came here after a long day snorkeling by the reefs in Tulum, and this meal was much deserved. I would fly back to MX just to have a taste or their burritos again. Our group started with a few elixirs/juices and other potions to kick off the meal. Of course, we had a guacamole to start, but the fun really started when I ordered the vegan chilaquiles to "share" with the table. This is definitely a trustworthy place to eat. The food is delicious. They have vegan and vegetarian options. They have various seating options, front yard, inside, or back patio area. As a pescatarian with a vegan restrictions for everything but fish, I got the vegetarian option with fish, and no cheese. I can probably eat two. Otherwise maybe get it with their tasty tortilla strips and a smoothie. I liked the option with turmeric, as I always include that in my smoothies at home. Enjoy! read more

After arriving in Tulum late in the afternoon on a Saturday, Burrito Amor stood out to us immediately as we drove to our lodge. Located closer to the end of the town strip, it's open for lunch and dinner and has an immediately inviting feel. The restaurant is open to the fresh air with lots of bar seating facing out and many old wooden spools converted into tabletops. Beautiful lighting and a well designed logo draw in a variety of patrons. Set up like a typical western restaurant, once you choose a seat a waiter will come to your table and take your order. Unfortunately, after being opened for a month now, Burrito Amor is still waiting on their liquor license, however they do have four fresh juices to choose from: an unsweetened lemonade with chaya which I choose, tart and refreshing after a long day. The menu is diverse in the categories of salads and burritos, but if you're not in the mood for those you should look elsewhere. I had the smoked pork burrito as well as tried the shrimp burrito and a coconut chicken salad. While I really enjoyed the burritos, the grilled shrimp was my favorite but the salad actually stood out by far above everything else. A mixture of cabbage, chicken and a spicy coconut flavored dressing, delicious! They had one dessert available, a dense macaroon tasting treat. Expect to pay 120 pesos per entree and add a couple dollars per add-ons. We had kids with us and they were able to accommodate us by creating a personalized burrito for each which was very convenient. They also have to go meals if you're looking to take something home. Great service and overall an enjoyable experience. They'll be having a grand opening party when they get their liquor license, so be on the lookout on their Facebook page. read more

Stumbled upon this place while looking for our hotel. It looked familiar because it was featured on a Tulum travel blog so I thought it would be worth checking out. Definitely a place you would wanna check out. Food (3/5) I'm just not a huge fan of burritos so I may be a bit biased. I ordered the pork & pineapple and my boyfriend had the ribeye. We shared the cactus salad. The food was not bad but it just didn't fit our palette. Just nothing special for me. However the ingredients definitely tasted fresh which I appreciated. Try the spicy white salsa. That was a nice twist. The prices were also decent. I would advise staying away from the alcohol. I got the coconut cocktail and it just tasted like juice. But the menu did say "healthy cocktails" so that might be why. Service (4/5) Not bad but they weren't super friendly? Just seemed like they expected a lot of tourists to come so they didn't really tell us anything about the menu and just handed it to us and walked away. In any case, the burrito is pretty good, but definitely nothing I can't get anywhere in any place in Houston. Their coffee, however, is VERY GOOD, and I would highly recommend it. They have four distinct sauces, which is pretty cool, because no one is left out as it relates to flavor and spice. The decor is nice, too. Just remember Burrito Amor is on the south end of town (only one main street). I ordered takeout. Para llevar is "to go" in Spanish! Considering every table was packed and there was a huge line waiting to be seated, I forgave the 45 minute wait for my order. They offer egg burritos with nopales (cactus), chuleta (smoked pork), machaca (air dried beef). They offered grilled vegan burritos, al pastor eye fillet of beef, smoked pork with pineapple, and my favorite, rib eye grilled with purple onions, pico de gallo, while black beans, and avocado. They have an amazing smoothie selection as well! So, if you're in the that line waiting to get in, then order a smoothie or freshly squeezed juice. Wish they had a Burrito Amor in the states. To my knowledge, burritos aren't native to Mexico. They're a California invention. But don't tell that to Burrito Amor, as they sling some of the finest versions you'll find in North America. A sprawling, wide open restaurant that's usually always packed to the brim and featuring burritos with a nice variety of ingredients. From vegan options to pork and beef, you can't go wrong.
