    Coco Loco with Tequila

Wow just wow. The hotel zone in Tulum is a bit of a dead zone for great authentic food but my oh my this place puts that stereotype to shame. We were walking around looking to find a lunch spot and my oh my we got lucky. Not only were they incredibly accommodating to my son to order a breakfast dish awfully close to lunch time but they also whipped out some amazing lunch time food. We got the tuna tataki that was layered on top of an amazing fresh couscous salad, the fish tacos are as advertised (not your typical Mexican grandmas tacos though) packed with flavor and insanely good. The lamb hummus? Get outta here out of this world good. We also tried several cocktails including the coco loco which was a fresh coconut with a blanco tequila and also their mezcal tasting. Staff was so kind and prompt, I'll definitely be back maybe even tonight!!!

Loco Tulum was right next to where we were staying. It was about a minute walk. The food here was amazing - I ended up getting a few different meals while we sat and ate there. All of their margaritas were so good, I had 3 while I was there. They also have a very large list of wines and are known for that! The fish tacos were so delicious!! The waiters game me some spicy sauce for them and it was perfect. The Mediterranean salad was good but not filling for a full meal. It's definitely not a traditional Mediterranean salad either. The falafel was delicious and gave with so many different dips to use! Would highly recommend.

I love trying new things but in our two night stay in the area, we came here twice! The service is top notch and stands up to 5 star restaurants in any major city in the U.S. Both nights, they had live music. They lit copal to help keep mosquitoes at bay, this might be a lot for people sensitive to smells or smoke, however, it helped make a comfortable environment in an area filled with mosquitoes and fillies. The food is the shining star of this place. The food is beyond delicious. I could spend hours here eating everything on the menu. I can't wait to visit again. Loco Tulum is a special place and I will recommend this place to everyone. The menu changes, but the fish tacos are the best I have ever had. Even if you stay in downtown Tulum, it is worth the drive or cab ride.

We arrived and did not have reservations so they put us toward the back of the restaurant despite the place being empty the entire time. I guess we're not as good looking as the Instagram models that keep this area busy! Despite my sober husband being harassed to take shots of tequila, the food was actually great and overall a nice experience. We started with the burratta. It was delicious but I did have to ask for pita to soak up the delicious tapenade and cheese. I ordered the grilled shrimp which were actually prawns I think and were 100 more pesos than the menu said (the server did warn me). Delicious dish but it came with like 3 avocados, which was a lot - even for this Californian. My husband ordered the special which was a sea bass. He thoroughly enjoyed it and ate the whole darn thing although we could have easily shared it!

We have had 2 dinner during our holidays. They had one of the best tacos that I ate in my life. Those fish tacos are heaven. Don't miss their black pasta. Great ambient with live music and excellent service. Highly recommended

We went to this restaurant our first night in Tulum! It has a beautiful exterior and very vibey just like many of the surrounding restaurants. First of all, a few moments after we sat down our amazing waiter Carlos brought us Tequila shots on the house. Already this place starts on a high note. For drinks we got a mojito and coconut with mezcal (such a good combo) We decided to just get appetizers as we didn't see anything on the main course that drew us. We ended up getting 4 appetizers: Our Famous Fish Tacos, Tataki Idan, Sashimi and the Lamb Masbaha. The tacos were really good, they were spicy and flavorful while also fresh. The Tataki Idan was okay, the fish had some pieces that were very flavorful and others not as much. The tabulé was a little on the salty side. The Sashimi was good, the mix of ingredients really brought the flavors of the fish out. There were bean sprouts, radish, chipotle aoli and an avocado cream to tie it all together. Finally the lamb was delicious, it was flavorful, meaty and just the right amount of fat. I'm not even a lamb person and I appreciated this dish. It also came with hummus and pita bread. The hummus was super creamy. Finally we ended the dinner with Carlos bringing us more tequila and then we also had the digestive drink which was a shot of espresso and liquor 43 shaken and served over ice. While it was a little costly it was really good and I'm glad we got it.

Hummus was excellent and so was the lamb chops and couscous. Marcos has great service!

Loco is amazing. Hands down the restaurant in Tulum. Literally better than anything in the US, period - and I live in LA. The service here is incredible. Reyes was absolutely fantastic - my man! In terms of food, we had the spicy Mezcal marg, fish tacos, babaganush, and lamb chops - all mind-blowing and fantastic!! This is a must if you're in Tulum!

Very friendly staff, great breakfast omelette, low key atmosphere for a good bite without the scene

Nice server. Food decent. Babaganoush and squid ink pasta were good. Free tequila shots.

Reviewing Loco Tulum as a restaurant only. My main issue was the steak. This went down as follows: 1. Ordered it rare. 2. Got it well done. It's hard to tell from the photo because the lights were so dim. 3. They did not offer to make me another one. They just said they would not charge me for the one they messed up. This was, I think, because it was close to closing time. However, in the end I went home hungry! So, minus a point for messing up the order, and minus another point for not making me another steak. The steak is, by the way, very expensive. My expectations shift based on price point. If a restaurant prices something that high, it's a promise to the customer that it will be perfect - or that they will make it perfect. The home-made bread was too sweet for my taste. I was expecting bread, but I would actually say it's more like Mexican sweet bread than it is regular homemade bread. The artichoke hearts were good, but could have been cleaned better. The dessert was my favorite part of the meal. It was delicious! I don't recall what it was called, but if you're curious you can see it in the photos I posted. The service was excellent. I liked my server very much. He was polite, kind, and made an effort to speak English even though I was trying to speak Spanish with him. Super nice guy. At some point they started burning this really thick incense, and the smell was overwhelming. I think some people may like it, but it was way too strong of a smell for me.

Every dish was amazing, we also had hummus in addition to images shared. Would definitely recommend as a must stop when you visit Tulum!

We did make a reservation, although the space was surprisingly empty at 7pm. We do know we came as the season is winding down, but for how good this food is, this place should always be packed. Our waitress was delightful - attentive, helped to explain every dish and the dishes all came out quickly but nothing felt rushed. The vibe is very jungle chic with open air seating, slightly covered by large leaf structures. Lots of candles and mood lighting. The menu offered quite the diverse selection of food options with a focus on traditional but elevated Mexican flavors. We started with some signature cocktails - my husband the mustachio whiskey drink and I had the wildfire. Both were perfectly mixed with great flavors. I will note the wildfire was more tart than spiced and did come with a fun flame element (sadly no pic). Also of note, the passionfruit that is used in this drink is a local fruit that is far more tart than other passionfruit you may have experienced. If you like a tart refreshing drink, this is your pick. We shared many dishes - the first was the pork rind with street corn dip. WOW. The pork rind seasoning was absolutely delicious and the serving size of street corn was epic. So rich, so delicious. We also shared the fried avocado - truly, the local avocados are heaven sent and the pumpkin seed purée was perfectly developed and spiced. Next up, larger dishes included the corn ravioli - this was so rich, and swimming in delicious truffle flavor. The raviolis were huge and there were 6 of them. The foam and nest elements while very pretty were also equally delicious. Not something that I often say when it comes to foam on plates. Finally, we had the shrimp main - I cannot put into words how amazing this dish was. The sauce was spicy, garlicky, and clearly developed over many hours. You could taste the time put into this. The shrimp were so tender the heads and tails just fell off. It comes with a side of bread and you will want to soak up every drop of this sauce with the toasted bread. If you are looking for elevated local flavors that have been carefully and meticulously curated then you must have a meal at WILD.
