We'd been traveling since the wee hours of the morning. Landed in Pensacola and made our way to Fort Walton Beach and we were hungry bordering on hangry. We found Burrito del Sol and Yelp and thought a hearty burrito might be just the thing. Yahtzee. This spot serves up pure deliciousness. I got a southwest style burrito with tempeh and it was wonderful. The tempeh was flavorful and I love that they have burrito styles to choose from. The southwest style did not disappoint. It came with tortilla chips and salsa and the burrito itself was ample without being overwhelming. It looks unassuming from the outside but is cute and squeaky clean inside. I had the Baja Shrimp Tacos and I was a little disappointed that the tacos didn't really seem like they had enough "stuff" in them. I was expecting a lot of cheese, lettuce, salsa and stuff but it was really lacking. The flavor of the shrimp was good but I was still hungry when I was done (I doubt they would fill a grown man). I visited on a Wednesday during lunch and they were really busy and took 10 minutes to place my order and then another 25 minutes for my food. The place and tables didn't seem too clean and normally I would give a place like this a pass, BUT it cost $25 for a drink with 3 tacos and a few chips. The bar wasn't open until 4pm so I didn't get anything from there. Seems like an okay spot for lunch, BUT I wouldn't go here for dinner. read more

This is a great quick service Mexican option in Ft. Walton! The burrito was made to order and each bite was super fresh. It was not greasy at all and I really enjoyed it! The queso was sooo delicious too! We went on a Wednesday where you can get queso in your burrito for free as well. They serve the burrito with chips and salsa, but I thought the salsa was bland. I went to Burrito Del Sol after a very long day. I came in and was able to quickly order my food. What I noticed is that with the menu you can order either Taco, Burrito, Nachos, or Quesadillas and have them in Baja, Chipotle, Southwest, or BBQ Style. I decided to get the Steak Burrito in BBQ Style. The steak in the burrito was really good and juicy. The Problem with the burrito is that it didn't feel like a true BBQ style. I feel like if they added some BBQ sauce and more cheese it could have helped the burrito a lot. read more

One of my favorite local spots! Always has delicious, fresh Mexican food and a great house margarita!

All things considered this was actually some really solid Baja style Hispanic food. I got the fish tacos which I thought were cooked great and very flavorful. As well as the shrimp bowl. I think they took a good unique approach to the bowl and it was very good. The sauces they there in too were awesome. I would definitely order from this place next time I'm in town. read more

I had high expectations since this was recommended by a local. The ambiance was great. This place had a cool vibe and cool T shirts for sale. My steak tacos were solid and I would order them again. Chips and salsa were mediocre at best. Salsa lacked flavor and heat. The classic margarita was also a big disappointment, especially served in a plastic cup. My main reason for going was for the tacos and they were delicious. Overall, I would go back but I won't bother with the margaritas next time. read more

Went to Burrito del Sol on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm. It was packed. There were just two of us, and nowhere to sit. We got our order to go, but a seat opened up while we waited. We both orders the shrimp and bacon taco special. They were very tasty! The portions were more than enough for lunch. The rest of the menu seemed pretty good. The service was great. There's a bar attached, which seemed to have a pretty good vibe. We will definitely be back to try some other choices! read more

We were planning to play darts at Salty Duck, and also needed to stop for dinner. Burrito Del Sol was right next door, so we decided to stop in. We went to the bar area which was very festive. I loved the decorations, and the bartender was friendly. My husband and I decided to split the baja burrito which came with a side of chips and salsa. It was plenty for both of us. The burrito was good. I didn't order a meat, and would have preferred more black beans and less slaw, butbit was still really good. Also, there is a nice grassy area behind the restaurant. While on my family vacation in the Destin and fort Walton area we stopped in this burrito de sol location that is on the fort walton part of the state. We had just left the gulfaquarium and wanted some Mexican for lunch and heard good things about This place so we drove over. Place has some really cool decor inside and has pretty large and spacious seating. Upon walking up you have three lists of options. Which is basically what entree you want, what meat you want and the sauce you want. You place your order and they give you a table number and they bring the food out to you. They have have fountain sodas for you to self save your own drinks. I personally went with a chicken quesadilla and it was really good. Nice cheese flavor and chicken was tasty. Highly satisfied with the quesadilla. I also got some loaded beef nachos to share with the kids and they were solid. Chips nice and soft but the beef was just ok and they were shady with the queso big time. My younger kids got a cheese roll up which hyped them up because Taco Bell has cheese roll ups and that's the only place they have seen those before. They we're more like cheese quesadills. The kids said they were ok. My oldest got a chicken burrito and the wife got a chicken taco salad. Both seemed satisfied with there meal. Overall I enjoyed our trip here. Different vibe from other places in fort walton and Destin. Not seafood and a bit cheaper. Not a fancy place by any means as you aren't waited on but I don't need that everywhere I go. Great presentation & service. I ordered the grilled shrimp taco salad to go without cheese. The cashier quickly realized dairy is no-go territory for me, and helped by removing any dairy products in the order! Truly going the extra mile in service. The taco shell is basically a fried wanton skin, so it's crispy at first and will get soggy over time. Yummy! So glad I found out about this place before heading down for vacation. I had the shrimp taco salad Baja style with 1/2 romaine lettuce with 1/2 the purple cabbage and a side of corn and bbq sauce so almost a combination of the Baja and bbq style! So delicious!!! Everything was made fresh and I loved the chips and guacamole. My husband had the steak quesadilla and no complaints from him. Their red salsa is also great! You walk into a Mexican restaurant, you expect Mexican food right? Looking past that, we got a typical taco salad which unfortunately was mediocre. The shell wasn't impressive and definitely not fresh. The ground beef had zero flavor. The entire dish needed some seasoning, some flavor love. Everything in my taco salad was bland. I got a chipotle style and that sauce was very little for a taco salad. No actual dressing. I ended up asking my husband to get me some type of salsa so that I could have some sauce to wash down the rice beans and the entire taco salad. There is tons of room for improvement. I probably will not go back. My husband ate the rest of mine a d said he wouldn't go there again. The service was okay. They aren't a 10 at customer service but they aren't the worse either. The restaurant itself is fine. As long as its clean, I don't care about decorum and they were a clean restaurant. read more

Always so good!!!! You pick your choice of meat or no meat, how you want it, and a style. I got Shrimp Tacos Baja style. Served with chips and salsa. The Baja style is a little spicy but the pineapple salsa really brings it together. It actually had a signed taped saying peanuts were being used today (for their special). We didn't think anything of it but after we ordered mentioned we have a peanut allergy for a child. The worker came out to the table and said that she was going to remake the kids meal to be safe. Wish we found this place sooner! We've been coming to Okaloosa Island for years but had only tried the Destin location. This one is much much better. The menu has a lot to offer and everything sounds delicious - we will have to come back to try more. The food is very fresh and the portions are decent.
