The Good- Service was fantastic. Happily greeted by smiling faces dressed like they're going to a wedding. The inside has a 50's-ish diner feel which is fun for being a Mexican food restaurant. Prices are fairly reasonable and the portions are decent. The Bad- Our food came out cold, specifically the carne asada. Straight from the refrigerator, disgusting. There's 4 other couples in the whole place, all had their food. Why is my food cold? It took awhile to get the first time, so I was pretty upset about sending it back. Manager came over and took the plates, yelled at the cook and apologized to us. The Ugly- I don't want to hear you yelling at your kitchen staff. I also wish the kitchen served hot food so. Then the worst, they didn't even remake our food. Popped it in the microwave crema, lettuce, tomatoes and all. So then the owner comes over and tried to win us over with free drinks and another plate at 50% off. Thanks, but no thanks. I don't even want your tequila and that says a lot. read more

Hands down the best Mexican fare on the South Side! Honestly it could be one of the best places for Mexican food period... And I'm not joking! The margaritas are fantastic (1/2 price on Mondays) and I never leave without one. They come in three different sizes, or so I'm told... Honestly, I don't see the point in a small margarita. The food is cooked fresh and made to order. The ribeye steak ala mexicana is my personal favorite but honestly you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is outstanding, with very polite and friendly staff. The decor is reminiscent of a 50's diner, which admittedly sounds weird for a Mexican restaurant but oddly works well. I was so impressed with the Torta Vallarta the last time around, I had to try it again to make sure I didn't dream the whole experience.. By golly I was not dreaming!! Based on the Yelp reviews, I tried the steak Torta Vallarta. It is an amazing sandwich. Absolutely love it and crave it. I generally love tostadas. I first tried them here but didn't love them. I also love the carne en su jugo, which is a hearty soup packed with steak, beans, bacon, and other items. It is large enough to feed at least 2 and reheats very well. The margaritas are amazing! Be prepared to feel it. They are not for punks. My husband gets the carne asada and loves it. It is very flavorful. My daughter ordered the enchiladas once and was convinced they used mozzarella cheese. Don't let the strip mall setting fool ya! Oh don't let the cafeteria chairs and setting fool you either. The service here is always welcoming and efficient and the food is great!. This has become by far, my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant. read more

We've been going to Burrito Jalisco for years... always 5-Star authentic mexican homestyle cooking similar to my grandmother/home and Nuevo León in Pilsen. Guisado, chiles Rellenos, Huevos Rancheros Caldo de Res like no other. We had not visited for a long time, covid, etc. and finally went this Dec 2022. There's either different chef(s), owners or ? My huevos ranchero had a sauce that was like tomato soup. It's almost as though they've hired an outside 3rd party like (Sysco or ?) to provide provisions. I'm going to make it a point and see the owner and share that we are not the only patrons who loved their food and will no longer patronize given this unusual change in authenticity. We're originally from the Chicago area and we miss the Mexican food there. So, when we had to return to the area last week (for a funeral unfortunately), we decided to stop for some burritos before we left town. We were very happy that we stopped at Burrito Jalisco! The quality of the food here easily earns it 5 stars. Only the atmosphere (video gambling) drops the rating to 4 stars. All three of us had steak burritos and they were absolutely delicious! Terrible service we waited over 30 minutes to have our order taken. We finally flagged down the waiter to have him take our order., we waited another 45 minutes only for them to only bring 2 of the 5 dishes that were ordered. All the food we received was cold. I will start off by saying when ever I order a taco dinner plate, I never really eat the beans and rice because they are usually super trash. Not here. The refried beans and rice are really good. I ordered a taco dinner plate and it was bomb. The frozen margarita and sangria is also very very good. Came on a Sunday with great authentic Mexican music. Great outdoor entertainment. The only negative I will say is the chips. The tortilla chip came out nice and warm, but were super weak. Waaaay too hard. They need to throw the whole recipe away. My sister and I took my mom out to dinner here on a Sunday night. After we ordered and before our food was served, a very large man who was clearly over served tripped at fell on top of my mom and sister as we sat at our table. I snapped a picture of him as he called for a ride home while his buddy slept at the bar. Not one of the waiters or waitresses or managers came to check in my mom or sister after the incident and it wasn't until we were leaving that one of them came over to tell us that the incident did not happen because these men were over served but because he has a bad knee and lost his balance. read more

This place has some really good Mexican food. They are always crowed but the inside is HUGE and you never have to wait. The atmosphere is welcoming and upbeat. Great place for a date night or family get together. Try the jalapeño margarita! Perfectly balanced with lime and fresh jalapeño . I would have rated it 5 stars but the menu is very pricey. This is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants to get authentic Mexican food from on the south side! I usually am an inside diner but due to COVID we ordered takeout for Halloween and it was so easy and delicious. The manager took my order and then asked me a few clarifying questions to ensure we were on the same page. He even called me once my order was ready to be picked up! This place is connected to a gas station. My plate was covered in one big sloppy mess. I don't think it matters what you order, your plate is piled up with a mix of crap. This location is huge and upon arrival there was no clear indication as to what door to walk through(we witnessed two parties trying multiple doors) smh. We finally sat down and we're given chips with salsa but sadly sat there for almost 20 minutes without even a drink. We decided to get up and leave since we realize that we were going to be eating anytime soon. While walking out I noticed that the two parties that walked in before had also only chips and salsa on their table. Everything I've gotten from here has been delicious! The portions are large and the price is more than fair. Some of my favorites include the enchiladas suizas with chile de arbol sauce and the carne apache. I've also had their margaritas. I ordered guacamole "spicy" which is just a diced jalapeños on top :/ I sent it back! and the waiter got upset and charged me for all the horchata's he told my boyfriend where free. Very dissatisfied with this place. Thought we would order out during Pandemic help a business, but food was not that good. We ordered 3 burritos 2 steak and one with cheese, sour cream and beans. They charged 7.99 for each burrito which is the norm but one did not have any meat in it I would have thought it should be a little less. We also ordered Castilla's de Res dinner, they charged $18.99 for this, the meat was chewy and looked like it was boiled, it came with chorizo and potatoes, beans and about a tablespoon of guacamole.
