Tacos - Asada, Pollo, and Pastor
Dany B.

Do yourself a favor and order their Pastor and Asada tacos with Cilantro and onion, and ask for some fresh lime wedges on the side. AMAZING flavor, cooked to order in a great family friendly atmosphere. We also tried the chicken enchiladas and they were delicious. Yummy. I would shy away from tamales, because they were dry. We will definitely come back here.

Your new go-to restaurant for Tacos and Sopes!  Please check out my review

Go JUST for the tacos and sopes! I first found out about this little hole in the wall restaurant when I was driving around Oak Lawn looking better tasting Mexican food (La Playita on 87th and Pulaski had disappointed me for the last time). From the outside, it looks like another typical mediocre Taqueria, but I thought what the hell, give it a chance. Their tacos and sopes are delicious!! The tortillas are made from scratch, and the meat is perfectly seasoned and juicy. Their tacos do not need to be topped with anything other than cilantro and onion. The sopes are fried until crispy on the bottom and then topped with your choice of toppings. When you add the salsa and bite in, you get a crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside mouthful that has you begging for more. Their gorditas, tortas, and quesadillas are great as well. The rest of their food is mediocre and doesn't blow your mind. I would not drive out of my way to eat their rice, beans, guac and chips, or any of their dinner plates. The milkshakes are a hit or miss depending on who makes it and the flavored waters are just okay. The restaurant displays a neon sign that says "Tamales" on their window, and I thought that might be their specialty, but nope! If you want good tamales, go to 26th and Pulaski intersections, and you will find some of the most delicious homemade FRESH tamales in Chicago, but NOT here. This restaurant's tamales are small, with minimal filling, and tasteless. A PERFECT EXPERIENCE AT EL TACO SABROSO #2: Order 1 taco of your choice, 1 gordita to share, and definitely one of their delicious sopes to hog for yourself. Then order a Sangria Mexican soda to compliment your delicious, mouth watering food. Go at night, and you may be able to get a booth in front of a TV showing entertaining Mexican soap operas. Perfect chill night.

Chicken and pork tacos , and delicious guacamole for $3.50!

I stumbled upon this little taqueria on my way home from Midway airport, when I had a severe craving for tacos and guac. This place hit the spot - a delicious, cheap and fast meal that you can't beat! I had two tacos - chicken and pork - they were very flavorful and the meat was good quality (not at all fatty). The tacos were perfectly simple served with cilantro and onions OR lettuce and tomatoes, and double corn tortillas. They were only $2.10 each! The guacamole was also delicious and only $3.50 for a very generous serving. They also serve you complimentary chips and 3 types of salsa. Last but not least, the staff at this place was super friendly and kind - I will definitely be back anytime I drive to midway around lunch or dinner time!

Pork Tamale

El taco sabroso has got some good things going for them. First off they are reasonable in their prices. Not only that but they do not seem to skimp out because of their low prices. I wasn't expecting to get such a large container of rice for only 1.60! Next, as a tamale addict I had to of course order one. I got the pork, and was not super impressed by the flavor. However what I did like was that it seemed pretty fresh, no dried out edges here! The chicken and pastor tacos were pretty flavorful though. Finally they gave us 2 red sauces, 1 green, and a pico de gallo without even asking. There have been some other places in the area I have had to practically beg for hot sauce so that was nice. Overall I enjoyed their food and I shall return!

That was the most horrible food that I ever ate. The prices are outrageous and I woke up with a bad stomach ache and runs. Don't eat here

Has burrito dinner it was good. But I think it could have been better if they had seared the tortillas on both sides.

This isn't just plant-based food -- it's thoughtful, balanced, and crafted with real love. I had the fish tacos (yes, vegan -- and absolutely convincing), the corn ribs, mushroom sandwich, truffle fries, mushroom quesadilla, horchata, and Jamaica. Not one miss. Every single item was a hit. The flavors are layered without being heavy. Comforting without being greasy. Satisfying without the crash. You leave feeling full but light -- the kind of meal where your mouth, your stomach, and your health all say "thank you." If you go, honestly? Do yourself a favor: order a sandwich and a drink. Sit with it. Taste it. Let it speak for itself. This is the kind of place we need not just to survive, but to thrive. You can feel the family behind it. The mom. The owner. The care. The pride. The love is truly in the food. Oak Lawn is lucky to have them. Go hungry. Leave grateful.

I got the Fish Dinner Tacos ($25), and my husband got Flautas de Papa ($18). I was eyeballing their Pozole or Menudo but didn't really want to pay $22 for a bowl of soup. Everything on the menu just felt too expensive, especially for being in a casual atmosphere outside the city. Quesadilla La Reina del Sur has a plethora of vegan tacos you can get for like $4 each. I was in the mood for dessert, but even something as simple as 2 cookies with milk would be $24, so we went elsewhere. The food was fine, and the service was fairly attentive, but nothing blew me out of the water for these prices. They also added a 3.5% fee to the bill.
