Food is amazing and the service is top notch. I highly recommend eating there. My favorite is the Pollo Asado plate.

So happy I stopped in this cute little Mexican restaurant!!…read more Decided to stop in for lunch on a Friday right after they opened. I was sat quickly and I informed them I was in a rush but would love to eat quickly. The accommodated and my food was out in under 10 minutes. I ordered the bierra dinner with rice and beans and boy it was so good!! The beans and rice were incredible some of the best I've had at a Mexican restaurant. My main gripe is the music! Almost took a star off for it. It's incredibly loud. Needs to come down by 50% at least. Overall would definitely come back here and recommend it!

The lamb did not taste like how it usually did and the tacos were pretty dry. The service was good. They predominantly speak Spanish be sure they are transparent with you about what it is that you were paying for. My order was correct. The ambience of the place was clean. There were a lot of pick up orders in there along with me during lunchtime hour. This is definitely my sign to try something else on the menu. You can't go wrong with your order here. Just communicate to them if you like your meat more juicy let them know if you like it more dry let them know. The next time I go I'll be sure to communicate that to them.

It's going to be just like Mexican Inn from 95th and Ewing in Chicago, I was told. They were going to bring it back. According to the story, Dive Taco was somehow related to the Mexican Inn restaurant owners and had their authentic recipes that were such a success back in the day. The last time I can recall eating at Mexican Inn was 1982, some 37 years before Dive Taco came on the scene. I been around a while, you can't fool me. I know what know what a Mexican Inn taco and their other specialties tasted and looked like. They were to die for! Tacos were only four (4) for a dollar back then and their Mexican plates with enchiladas and tamales, beans and rice was like 2 to $3 tops. Of course I know we can't match those prices today. Mexican Inn was the first place I ever had Mexican food and I ate their regularly since the middle 1960's. The food was fresh, authentic and tasted so so delicious. Mexican Inn was so special and unique and the very best in town. Mexican restaurants were rare back then and not a dime a dozen like they are today. I can remember the short little Mexican lady cooking as the steam ascended towards the ceiling. God rest her soul, she's probably passed away long ago. If you're going to bone pick on a restaurants past fame and glory rather than being a prime example of yourself, you best do it right. Dive Tacos corn taco shells look are like conch (seashells), heavy and flavorless. Mexican Inn was light, crispy like a potato chip almost, two shells together as I recall. Generous covering of grated Mexican cheese on top with tomato slices and shredded lettuce. The meat was flavored correctly seasoned with cumin and was super fresh. Oh do I miss Mexican Inn. Dive Taco is awful and expensive for what it is. I wouldn't eat their ever again. I did not like my tacos. You might want to consider reinventing yourself or finding a new cook. By the way, look like a restaurant and not like a gift store selling a bunch of marine junk and cluttering up your windows. Happy customers dining is your best advertisement. Good Luck!

The decor is really cool with a lot of 1950s and 1960s style antiques. There's an old jukebox that they are in the process of getting repaired. There are tons of old pictures on the walls and vintage newspaper advertisements. It has two dining rooms and the decorating all sticks with that 1950s and 1960s themes. The booths are in perfect repair and if you like you stepped into the 1950s, even the tables are the old style 1950s tables. It's a very charming place! All of the food was cooked perfectly. The service was impeccable and they are very nice. It's not a fancy place like you were downtown Chicago. It's a cute place that is arguably the best on the strip of 119th Street in Whiting..... At least when you're talking about this sort of style. There's plenty of street parking but they also have parking behind the place. They pay a lot of attention to detail to make the place feel comfortable, even live plants. When you Walk in the door, you notice that the room is painted robin's egg blue. The place is just so cheery it will make you happy.
