They should just turn this place into a bar already the food quality has declined terribly over the years. I used to love eating here when the steak tacos were flavorful carmelized and juicy and the beef tasted like beef not tomato achiote sloppy joes. When you used to order meat it tasted like whatever meat (just seasoned to bring out the natural flavors) you ordered. Now who knows what they're putting in the food it's all bland but over done like a bougie Taco Bell disguised as an authentic Mexican restaurant. Place looks nice and has nice staff but the food is far from your Tito's/Tia's or abuelo/a's comfort Mexican food. Even the beans were overly added to and tasted like canned cheap slop. Rice was very plain but plain rice pairs well with the properly cooked and seasoned food. It's been years since I ate here and I don't know what happened to the quality of the food here but I will not be returning again. read more

We tried a variety of tacos and they are a solid three out of five. I tried my dads chilequilles they were not so great, would not recommend. He would not recommend. Could be an off day. However, their drinks look great so I may be back to try those out. read more

Went there with a friend, before ordering I said I was allergic to tomatoes. The waiter said there are tomatoes on the salad but that they would be removed. Order came I start to eat and guess what tomatoes not good. I broke out in a rash it could have been worst had I not taken my medication at the onset. Never again. Decent Mexican restaurant in Whiting. There are a lot of lunch dishes in the very reasonable $6 - $7 range. I had the "Cancun" this time - crispy beef taco, beef enchilada, and a pork tamale for $6.59. The only gripe I have had here is that it can be on the slow side depending on the crowdedness, and I've sometimes avoided in deference to other Mexican places in the area because of this. read more

We were in from out of town and excited to find an "authentic" Mexican restaurant available for dine-in services. My husband wanted chicken tacos on soft-medium corn shell. They were out of chicken so he ordered beef. He reported the meat was dried out and completely flavorless and the shells were hard. I ordered the Molcajete and was not disappointed! The waiter never returned to check on us after delivery of food. We went with empty drink glasses and had to approach the counter ourselves to pay our bill. It was so cold that myself as well as ALL other patrons were wearing their coats, which makes a dining experience less than enjoyable. read more

I was disappointed in my dinner, I ordered the Burrito Suiza with red sauce and cheese. chicken was not seasoned, no red sauce, salsa was really watered down, beans didn't taste good and rice had no flavor. I seen people order from there so I figured I would try it. I tried to feed the burrito to my dogs and they didn't even want it. I have always gone for breakfast, at least once a month. the restaurant is dated but the staff is always very friendly. She always remember what I like to order. One of my favorite dishes is the chilaquiles. My husband like the carne adobada. In the morning the place isn't crowd , but a lot of people are picking up order. I wish we had a place like this closer to home. The price was completely affordable and the portion sizes were huge. It cost $20 for three of us to eat til we were full and we have two take home containers coming back with us; there was more than enough food. We all ordered tacos and rice. My family eAts here consistently, and the food is always good. The al pastor Tacos are a particular favorite.

Today I went there with my family and wanted to check out this restaurant in our local neighborhood and when we walked in I've never seen a restaurant so empty in my life there was only 1 person in there! After all we were able to sit anywhere to our likenings. We sat in a booth with a comfortable seating area although the tables were a bit sticky and very dirty! As the waitress came to take our order 20 minutes later our food came not that long of a wait but was a bit weird in there having nobody else eating in here besides my family. While my father got his food and finished eating he realized that the fat in the meat was lard and that the tacos had been on sale for a dollar and noticed that all our tortillas were soaked in oil to the point where it ripped up the tortilla! My father had said that the people only put the tacos for sale because they want to get rid of the old meat from the week end so they won't throw away old meat from Friday!!!!! I've never experienced this type of thing in any kind of restaurant! Hopefully u guys have a better experience!!!! read more

I love this place! The food is really good and inexpensive. It can get busy at times, because the food is great, and with BP right down the road many of the workers and contractors come here for their lunch breaks. I mostly call in my order and then head down to the lake front to enjoy it and have never had to wait long. I must admit the first time I walked in, my first impression wasn't great. It seems dirty at first look, because the decor is dated and the dining area could definitely use an updating, however, I've never had a dirty dish or table while dining in and the staff is always very friendly.
