My parents really love this place! I met them and my brother, who had been here before, for lunch. The server was very friendly and she is my parents favorite server there. The vibe is very casual and authentic. We were there around 1pm and it wasn't busy. The I'm pescatarian, but rarely eat seafood and the selection isn't very vegetarian/ vegan friendly, but it is doable. We all enjoyed our food and our time here. I'll be back again. read more

I can't say enough about how good their food is! First of all it is smaller and can be very busy on the weekends, but it's worth it if you have to wait. The menu has so many REALLY traditional Mexican dishes and it's so difficult to decide so we order something different and share some bites. Today I had the Napoles ala Mex. Con Huevos. Scrambled eggs with cactus, jalapeños, onion, tomato and cotija cheese. So delicious! Their complementary chips and salsa also comes with their amazing salsa with cabbage! Don't be afraid! It's amazing! They do beans and rice perfect. So fresh and tasty. Their beans are my favorite! The service is great! I can't wait til next time! I ordered a Menudo I didn't even eat, and the owner charged. Menudo didn't have any flavor, I tried to fix it adding lime,salt oregano, and chile but not even with all that was good, The server told the owner, but she said I have to pay witch I did. One of the best and most authentic I have ever been to. The chicken soup was amazing. Guacamole was good, heavy on the cilantro. Salsa and pico de gallo were good. The portions are huge. This was nice local recommendation courtesy of Yelper pal, Jennifer G in Merillville. I had 3 enchiladas Mexicana (Spanish red sauce) for $5.25. Refried beans and rice were fresh and good. This is now one of my favorites in the area for good, cheap Mexican eats. They have a large menu selection, and many items are under $6. Dining room is comfortable, and they take credit cards. We were greeted by the waitress with a "We have no seats and the food is taking a long time to come out". A nice customer immediately told the waitress that we can have her table. So, we decided to stay since there's not to many places in EC to eat. The food was okay, when we went to pay at the register they couldn't find our bill. Hello FOOD SNOB here. When Mexican friends say this place is authentic I had to try it. The inside is not the most inviting. It reminds me of an old fashion diner. It seems like real good restaurants are in old neighborhoods like this. The Beans and Rice tasted very homemade and authentic. The Milianesa Torta was as Big as my Head, really. They give you a lot of Meat and big chunks of Guacamole. The bread could hardly hold it. Steak Enchilada Suiza was very tasty, in its rich sauce. The Guacamole dip had Big Chunks of Tomato and Onion, but could have had a little more seasoning. A little salt took care of that. read more

The food here was excellent and I'd say this is my second favorite Mexican restaurant in NW Indiana. To start off with, the salsa that comes with the chips is awesome. It's a cabbage-based pico de gallo. I don't know if there's a specific name for that kind of salsa, but it's the best salsa I've ever had. The food comes in really large portions, everything I've had there is really good, and the prices are really reasonable. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because the location is in a really sketchy neighborhood. The only times I've been here were at lunchtime, with a big group of co-workers. This isn't a neighborhood I would ever feel comfortable coming to alone in the evening. read more

The food is excellent but on this visit we had their pineapple agua fresca, which was to die for. I always get the enchiladas verde here which never disappoints, the steak tacos are also fantastic and the burittos are great and huge. My youngest gets a torta, which he loves here as well.
