Linda, the owner, greeted us with a welcoming smile and a tour of the beautifully decorated dining room and sitting area. A lovely Designer Christmas tree and a roaring fire set the tone of our stay. Linda had late-night cheese and crackers, champagne and sparkling cider, hot cocoa, and popcorn to ring in the new year. We watched the ball drop in a cozy TV room and ate our pizza from the local brew pub. The deer were walking up the roadway through the dense morning fog while Linda prepared a tasty homemade quiche and pumpkin muffins, accompanied by tasty brewed coffee, a choice of juice, and fresh fruit cups. We will definitely be back for another visit here at The Crofting. Thank you for everything Linda!

As bird people, we enjoyed seeing so many desert and scrub Jays, woodpeckers galore and the javalinas which came to feast on the foliage each morning. We went too late to see the mid boggling number of hummingbirds that come to the feeders there. Do yourself a favor and pack everything you need. The drive from the highway to the Domes takes 30+ minutes and is on one heck of a windy mountain road. One you get up to them, you'll not want to leave. There are staples in the pantry. But you'll need to bring your own food stuff. I am not very good at "doing nothing" but somehow this place managed to slow me down and allow me the relaxation I really needed. The Domes can accommodate 1 person or 20ish. The beds are comfy and the living space has everything you need . .. except a TV. There's wifi for your phone or tablet in case you need to catch up on news, check in with family or watch a game you just can't miss. Super reasonable for a large group. Check it out!

I stayed in the Geronimo room which had its own on suite bathroom. I hadn't slept that well in a long time. I think it was the quiet? Debbie brought a tray of fresh fruit, coffee, and oj to the room in the morning. Downstairs, she cooked an amazing breakfast with fresh eggs from her chickens, bacon, sausage, potatoes, toast/ English muffin and danish. I didn't need to eat the rest of the day. I absolutely loved the property's 2 dogs, 3 cats, and pickle the parrot. It was nice to share stories with fellow travelers. I give the stay a 5 for the hospitality, charm, breakfast, and animals. If you are looking for modern/polished/sterile accommodations this is not the place for you. I wish I had planned a longer stay.

Join Jasmine and Jim Tritten as they travel south from Corrales down to San Antonio [New Mexico, not Texas], across to Carrizoza, and lunch at the Four Winds Restaurant, then up the hill to Rebeccas's in The Lodge in Cloudcroft. Have not personally stayed at the Lodge since we own a cabin - previously 1st Calvary tent a few…read moreblocks away. However, it was a goal to check out the lodge so that I could attest to others on its history. Emily at the front desk was so nice as well as the manager. They allowed me to walk the hotel, have coffee and cookies, take in the historic site and relax. I asked could I see one of the rooms since online the pictures were great and they have kept the original look and feel. the manager said he had step better than a standard room. He handed me a key to look at the Governors suite (see video). I returned the next day after hiking to have lunch and peruse the gift shop. Prices are a little higher, however the food is pretty amazing. I split a burger and chips. Food is great in the bar area. Dinning opens in evening but requires reservations. Pets are allowed for Small fee There is a golf course across the parking lot. Majestic views and well kept greens. don't be surprised but if you find yourself golfing around the deer, elk or wild horses. If you're lucky, you may see snow which makes all that much more beautiful. There is rich history of the lodge hanging in the walls and in areas to read upon. This used to be timber country and the original lodge burned down years and years and years ago. While at the Lodge check out Cloudcroft museum to take in all the history that included the Lodge, baby sanatorium and 1st Calvary visits, where it all started this beautifully small town.

It is really not for people with disabilities and the hosts were understanding why we chose not to stay a second night. It is a nice change from the chain hotels most places and therefore each room has its own personality. I was thankful for as old as the building it, there were plenty of plugs for our electronic gear. :-) The breakfast was very nice and we enjoyed the conversation with the other couple. Oh my gosh. What a super cool hotel!…read more Sky Lodge vibes abound. Rooms are super clean, bathrooms are big, beds are spacious and incredibly comfy. Loved our stay here and if we're ever in the area, we'll definitely be back. They serve breakfast also but we didn't get up in time as these beds are just so wonderfully comfortable that we all slept in a bit too late on both days. This is probably one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at. Don't miss out!
