With low snow fall each year the ski Cloudcroft has made the most of it. By opening summer tubing with a conveyer belt to take you to the top of this run. Prices are very reasonable compared to others I've been to. Staff are locals and very friendly. You can walk in to their restaurant and buy a pizza. BYOB. The 10" pizza is wood fired and pretty good. You can get sides like fried pickles, fried zucchini, onion rings etc. They were nice enough to to a half and half basket for us. The temp is a little warmer than usually but it's great to eat out on the patio with flowers in pots in bloom and green ski runs Watching a wonderful sunset and amazing hummingbirds chirping and zipping by you. Fantastic, excellent, outstanding! Took our Scout Troop, from Dallas, skiing last weekend. Of 13 Scouts, only 2 had ever skied before. We were treated like we were the only people there. After 2 hours of group instruction, by the end of the day, our guys were skiing! If one of them had difficulty, someone on the staff would assist them. This staff is second to none! Everyone had a blast! I really can't say enough about Ski Cloudcroft. Everyone is friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable. We will go back! read more

We were in Cloudcroft for Thanksgiving. Did not expect the resort to be open so it was a surprise when they said they will be opening the tubbing part. Our cabin was down the street so this sounded like a fun outing. It was about $50 for the 2 of us to tube and the place was very bare bones. I wish they had a small stand for hot coco or snacks. Restaurants where also had to get too. The actual slip was fun. We went on a moving walkway to the top and chose the slop we wanted. The staff was friendly and chatted awhile with us. Even though it was fun I think we checked this off our bucket list and won't be doing it again. read more

Ski CloudCroft offers skiing, snowboarding and tubing. Pros: Great place to bring friends to create fun winter memories! Snow tubing line wasn't long at all. They have a lift you stand on so you don't have to climb up the hill. Great location and clean. Cons: No one explained to us that we were suppose to drag our feet at the bottom of the hill so we don't run into the inflated thing. A worker gave us a strike on our tag instead of just letting us know. They did not have a worker at each one to push you down or tell you when to go. At first we didn't mind this but when little kids showed up it was kind of chaotic. read more

Ski Cloudcroft is awesome because they are not overly crowded like other major resorts nearby. We were only a 10 minute drive away from the place and rolling in a little before 10am for ski school worked out. They were more than happy to take us. They got everyone fitted with their rental boots and skis before starting the class and for $72 it was really worth it compared to what it would cost in California. Emily was our ski instructor and she did a fantastic job getting everyone trained on the basics. I'm a first time skier and by the end of the 2 hours I was able to get down the mountain without eating snow. Gabe was also great and was at the top helping skiers that were stuck. There were about 20 people in the class. Unfortunately there wasn't enough snowfall at the top of the mountains so the chair lifts were not operating at the time for the more advanced folks. I'll return again when there's enough snow as the service here is top notch. read more

Not family friendly. Not kids friendly. Definitely not beginner friendly. Not suitable for strollers and little ones either. The lift is outdated and dangerous too. I met the kindest owner but ironically the rudest and heartless staff too. * You can't walk and assist your kids in the bunny hill (beginner's area) -- Everyone (except the employees) must be on skis or snowboards. The only place allowed is the 2-car garage sized area next to the building. So I asked Mike (owner?) if we can assist our 5 year old on the edge of the bunny hill and maybe play snow there. Mike said okay. To be respectful, I talked to the bunny hill keeper about this. He said, "No, this is nonnegotiable! Everyone must be on skis or snowboards. Or this area (the 2-car garage sized area.) ... Why do you think you're special? Every beginner is skiing here (this small area). ... No! No matter what Mike said. This is nonnegotiable!" * You must keep your little ones away from the bunny hill. If you missed for any reason, you may be threatened to kick your whole family out of the resort. Yes, that's what the bunny hill keeper said. "If you don't keep your daughter from walking here, your whole family will not be allowed to stay here. You can call me a prick. ... That's my final warning! No more talks!" Our 5 year old didn't listen to her mom to stay uphill and walked into the bunny hill, looking for dad. I said to the keeper, sorry I know it's dangerous; I explained and tried calming down the keeper. "No, this is the final warning!" he said. I saw parents watching their kids skiing down the hill without help, falling, again and again. I hate to say this, but this is not humane! If you are a parent, you know what I mean. Some parents, like us, followed the rule, sharing the little 2-car garage sized area, practicing, with other resting people and sad parents... So most families left early. The thing is that we visited ski resorts in Denver before. Parents walking next to their kids to assist was never a thought to us. This totally blew my mind! Good job! * Your kids can't play snow anywhere, even no one will reach there. The hill keeper walked by and saw my kids playing snow on the other end of the building, showing the same poker face, about to say NO... I quickly responded and immediately took my kids away, afraid to be threatened again to be kicked out. * The lift is too hard to catch, even for an adult. Just like the other reviewers said. People fell in the middle and the keeper had to stop the machine to "save" the poor person from being hit by others. Not to mention there is only one lift there, so there's a long line. Many people just gave up and carried their skis and snowboards, WALKING to the upper hill. See the conflicts HERE! You can WALK in the bunny hill NOT on skis or snowboards! So you see many people skiing, snowboarding, walking, and resting in the bunny hill. Wait, why is resting allowed in the middle of the hill? That's because it's the bunny hill. But why is assisting your kids not allowed? That's because it's the BUNNY HILL! Too bad, my family will not visit this resort anymore. Neither are the other two families I talked later in the parking lots, who were checking the prices and my comments. Surely nor the readers here and my family friends and their friends. Note that we spent roughly $300 each day here. They are losing our business now. Plus immediately 2x$300 from the families in the parking lots, and more in the future to come. To be fair, I must say there were still some staff like Mike, doing the "right" thing at the first day, so we visited this place again the next day. Mike was generous, kind, polite, and understanding what it takes to be a parent. It's just sad that the longer we stayed, the more regret we had. As a father, I just can't forget my youngest's face, asking me, "Daddy, why can't you help me in the hill? Why... Daddy, why can't we play snow there? We aren't bothering anyone." And I had to say, "Sweet heart, this is their rule. Although not reasonable, we just have to follow ..." again and again. read more

I went tubing for the first time and it was great experience . It didnt take long to get to the top of the tubing run and the view is spectacular , perfectly blue skies with evergreens and pure white snow all around . The fresh mountain air and new mexico sun made it a wonderful experience . All the staff were well mannered and very helpful. I had huge 1/3 pound cheeseburger with fries i couldnt finish. After hearing our friends rave about the pizza, we decided to stop for lunch. The restaurant is located to the back of the office building . You have to go up the side stairs and you'll see the deck with tables, chairs, and large hanging baskets of geraniums. They take your order inside. 10 inch pizzas are offered at a base price and with additional toppings at an extra charge or you can order a specialty pizza. Hubby ordered their meat lovers with jalapeños and I ordered pepperoni with jalapeños. We also ordered a side of fried cheese sticks and 2 drinks. Pizza was excellent. The crust was nicely baked and the sauce tasted great. Pizzas were baked to perfection. They have a small case with salads and pies. I left with a slice of chocolate cream pie for road. The pie was also very good , the filling was nice and fluffy and the whipped cream was not too sweet and tasted freshly made. The staff was very friendly and quick. The piping hot pizzas came out immediately. The views are great too. We could see the green mountains outside our window and as we were leaving we were met by the hummingbirds who hovered near the geraniums. The price point is a little higher and the pizzas are a little smaller than other pizza joints in the Cloudcroft village. But Ski Cloudcroft definitely gives them some competition with their great tasting pizzas, friendly staff and great views. read more

I came to Cloudcroft today to introduce to skiing for the first time. Upon learning that ONLY the bunny slope was open, we thought it was going to be the perfect experience for rookie skiers to learn and hopefully master a beginner slope and gain some confidence on skis. We joined the ski school with Diana. She was fantastic, friendly and made ski school as personal as possible. However, she had a group of about 20 new skiers. So, when it came time to learn how to ride the lift, my family was in the back and could not hear the instructions well. When it came time for us to ride, none of the kids could do it. After several attempts, the lift attendant said that we would need to just walk up. We walked up, skied down, attempted again, failed again, was told again to walk back up and repeat and repeat, able to ski, but unable to ride back up. It doesn't make sense to me to pay for ski school and lift tickets, when we were told to walk up the mountain. Ski school should be limited to a smaller, more manageable group. I also suggest that at a minimum, any skier that is willing to attempt without fear or hesitation should be able to ride the lift by the end of ski school. What an amazing find! Even though only the Bunny Hill was open the day we went due to not enough snow yet our family had a great time! We have 4 kids who had never been skiing, aged 24-17 and all took a lesson & picked it up so fast. Website said group lesson but they basically got a private one as no one else was in their group & their instructor was fabulous & patient! All the staff were incredibly helpful & friendly! This is a great little ski resort for beginners. Nothing fancy, and for me, that is what makes it so good for beginners. Everyone on staff was so friendly, helpful, and engaging. Our beginner package worked out great for 2 girls (6&10) who had never skied before. Rental equipment was in good shape and they were helpful in getting all 3 of us outfitted and explained everything. Instructor was very good and patient. Probably the staff member who was most impressive to me was the lift attendant: he was really helpful in getting all the newbies comfortable with learning how to use the lift and never grew impatient or acted bored with repeating the same instructions over and over. We really enjoyed our visit. For two foster kids who have never done anything like this before we could not have asked for a better experience. I truly appreciate every staff member who treated these kids in such a kind and welcoming manner. Not to sound melodramatic, but you made this an adventure that they will never forget. read more

We will always recommend Ski Cloudcroft. Family friendly, not too big. We have a big family, and our children are all quite young: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11. There are few places where we can bring all of our children and know they are all safe, no matter where they are dispersed on the mountian -- skiing top of the mountain, polishing up skills on the beginner slope, running up mom's tab in the restaurant, bragging about how high they jumped to Michael or Jess in the rental shop, or off on the tubing hill with friends. The 5, 7, 9 & 11 year old learned to ski here when they were 8, 6, 4 and almost 3. From spring through fall, all the kids talk about is getting back out on the mountain. Ski Cloudcroft is, hands down, the best place to learn to ski! Fabulous instructors -- I said the same thing a few years ago when they taught my oldest 4 kids how to ski, it remains the same today. My oldest four have all budded into really great skiers, can out ski both parents for sure! Two weeks ago, our 3 year old had a private lesson here at Ski Cloudcroft, she loved it & learned how to ski! With a little more practice she'll be out there with the big kids! If I'm not being out skied by my kids, I'm hanging out with my toddler on the viewing deck, watching and checking in with the big kids. Ski Cloudcroft gets a bit busy over Christmas & New Years, but its no where near Keystone/Breckenridge busy and we still feel comfortable bringing the entire family out. The rest of the season is awesome, too! No matter how dry, they work hard to make lots of snow to keep the beginner slope open through spring break. The kids were thrilled about the magic carpet, adds a decent amount of terrain for beginners who aren't quite ready to tackle the top of the mountain! We can always count on a hearty lunch, too! If we aren't skiing, we've been known to swing by just for their green chile cheese burgers--delish. This season, the kids have been loving the pulled pork sandwiches! And even though it remains exclusively a summer time treat, we LOVE their Wood Fired Pizza! We love pizza in general, but this is THE BEST around and we've sampled the local pizza joints all multiple times! The perfect amount of crust (: We sure wish they would have year round pizza, but its such a nice treat to escape to cool Cloudcroft! Don't forget to try Jess's apple pie! read more
