I have a problem with this bar. I can never go there and remember leaving. You have to accept it for what it is, one of the last great places to go and DRINK! And their ok with that. It's a well oiled drinking machine, and has a very interesting assortment of patrons. You have a couple metro's, sports fans, pre-theater/comedy/show and post event peeps, and the locals that are there at 11am. It's not classy, but if that's what your looking for, you shouldn't be there. As for non drink related things, the food is ok-great, depending on what you order. I have to say, the ribs are so awesome, I have to order them every time I'm there. Grab a bone, and they slip out with no utensils! They just added sweet potato fries, and I've always liked the quesadilla. This isn't fine dining people, so comfort food, and it's very comforting! Juicy burgers, and if you really need a carb fix, the Tatertachos, tater-tots with awesome chili, cheese, and goodness. Thank goodness that they have more then Miller light on tap to wash it down! After midnight, it's packed and crazy, during sports it's full, it's just that kinda place. Go at noon, have a vodka cran in a pint glass (usually just a splash of cran for color) some ribs and fries and chill, or black out till 5am on Sat. They got you covered. read more

I'm a HUGE fan. Why? Well, I've never had a bad time while I was there. Everyone is really nice (because they're drunk), the food is great (because my taste buds are shot because I'm so drunk), and the service is great because I know Jeremy and he knows me. If you get there before midnight, you will probably be disappointed. It's best at the end of the night. Great people watching. read more

Not super familiar with Chicago nightlife (I'm a New Yorker) but had a good time here on a recent visit Three-floor dive bar definitely became more appealing as the night went on, with good music and some dancing on the upper floors. RIPPED US OFF; TWICE - When my friend and I went to and pay the tab via our separate credit cards, the bartender overcharged us for a drink apiece. When my friend called him on it, he said that they bought us a round. My friend said we never got the drinks and that if you did buy us a round, you wouldn't charge us for it, right? So, the bartender fixed the tabs. Guess what? I check my bank this morning and they still added $2 to my credit card. Now, I checked my receipt and I wrote very clearly, so there's no mistaking the amount. I know why they did such a small amount - so no one would complain. Well, I am. Trivia was a lot of fun here. We walked in to see a bar tender that apparently must have mimed that she needed to see our IDs and then didn't ask what we wanted to drink. She made us wait a long while, perhaps because I wasn't a burly male. They were out of nachos and I payed almost $5 for a Lite. No thanks. read more

I normally come here 1-2 am. Just for hot wings and jameson mixed with ginger ale lol.. It closes late. Regular crowd. They need more bar seats. I dont think the bartenders are over friendly. The doormen are really nice. I dont like the juke bix they use to play music. It is a total money stealer! read more

Came here on a Tuesday afternoon to watch the world cup. you get what you pay for. the beers and food are on the cheaper side (my allagash white was ~$6) compared to what I've seen in other bars. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which was surprisingly okay- I expected it to be a lot drier since I tend to find grilled chicken to be more often drier than not but it was actually moist and pretty tasty and came with the usual (lettuce, tomato) and fries on the side for $8 (cheese is an extra 50 cents and bacon and other toppings are I think a dollar extra). the food wasn't amazing but it was better than I thought it would be. the bartender (whose name I didn't catch) was nice, attentive, and friendly- it was so easy making conversation with her. downsides- way too dark inside, the TV quality wasn't that good and also super close so when you look at the screen your neck is just constantly titled upwards. it was an okay bar for what it's worth and you'll get what you come for (just don't have terribly high expectations for it). read more

Walk in, can't immediately get upstairs but once you do they play decent music. HOWEVER if the doorman "Donni" gives you his card and you decline he will treat you like SHIT. He can't take take rejection, so be prepared to be kicked out for no good reason, just pure bitterness of rejection. Also they close the kitchen at 2:50 not 3am. Ahh, good old Burton Place. I feel like they've been serving up stale beer and glasses of straight vodka for 04-05am sewer creatures since the 90's. Actually not even sure how this place is still open but I absolutely love it. 3 floors (4 if you are mentally blitzed) of pure sweat and low self esteem. I witnessed on countless times as playful youth straddled each other on those hepatitis infested couches while the creepy bouncers watched on jealously. I even witnessed a join being smoked by the window on the 3rd floor as the bouncer just shrugged and decided the walk through the sweaty grinding wall of young twenty-somethings hoping the night wouldn't end was not worth it. If Burton Place was a car, it'd be a 70's VW hippie van that was used as both a vessel and a home. That's exactly how the party folk of Chicago have seen it and it has never disappointed. The best part for me is watching hammered ex-sorority girls in tight leather pants that doesn't allow them to bend their knees and 4 inch heels try to walk down the stairs at last call. How they have not been sued or no one has died is beyond me but it's a great show and worth a last vodka soda that will have you waking up in your dog's bed covered in chicken fried rice and wontons. May Burton Place outlive us all and provide a desolate last hope for generations to come. read more

2.5 stars I guess. This place has really gone down-hill. I'm all for a good dive bar and all but the staff at this place just doesn't seem to care anymore and not in a "cool, divey" way. If I could give this place a zero, I would. The bar smelled like a dirty public bathroom and once we got the bartenders attention and showed our licenses she sneezed all over them. We proceeded to order a couple beers which the bartender then sneezed all over and did not wash her hands. I don't know why I used to like this place. It seems even darker and smaller than before. It's dirtier; the beer taps are dirty, the bartender sloooooowwwww. Great place. Can be somewhat quiet early in the night, but if you are looking for a great place to go after 2 am, this is the bar to go to. The Jalepeno Poppers are also a great late-night snack. This place is 3 floors of classic Americana for 20-30 somethings. read more

I understand what Burtons place is, and I accept it for that. That being said, it's no excuse for the bar staff to be rude and change the price of drinks on the fly. There was also more than one occasion where a bouncer hurled an insult towards our group for being in his way to the point where we were ready to leave the bar. After getting my hair done at RJ, I met up with Shannon and TT at Burton. We were avoiding Wrigley-ville due to the Cubs game and drunks on the street. Plus I was starving so a place with food was a must. The place was HOT and not like sexy it was warm inside. There was a softball team taking up the front of the bar so we took our seats at the bar. Our bartender had a drawn picture on the wall, so Shannon messed with him. I got the chicken sandwich with BBQ and a shiner boch. The sandwich was good but the fries were not salty fried goodness. fail on fries. The beer was good but I downed that quick.. at 5.50 a pint.. I moved to Miller lite quick (4.50). Not a huge drop in price but better than 5.50. TT and Shannon drank Burton place out of Blue moons. The keg was spent after 4 drinks. Because it took so long for them to change kegs .. we got free lemon drop shots.. more sweet not as vodkaie as expected. I was ok with this place but for the price and the atmosphere was not worth the hype. We ended up going to Trinity after! read more
