Fries were too gross to eat: fried in probably? old oil that tasted like old fish. We got several orders and none of us could eat the fries. Here for Tennessee game and bar had a lot of energy (loud!). Menu was limited and bar didn't have most options on tap. Not a craft beer bar. Food not recommended. Staff were friendly so keeps this a 3-star.

This was definitely a dive bar. We came on a Tennessee alum night so it was pretty bumpin! Looking back I wish we had just gone for drinks. Beer was cold and service behind the bar was good. They didn't really have waiters to attend to tables so everything was behind the bar. I got some chicken tenders and I wasn't a huge fan. They were sort of tough and not very flavorful. My boyfriend's burger was better. It was just your classic, old Chicago dive bar which is just what you need sometimes! I think when the weather is nicer the place will be better with the outdoor area opened up. The music was a little too loud and it was hard to talk over it. Definitely wouldn't come here for a date, but maybe with friends to watch a game or something.

Great neighborhood bar, with welcoming staff and about 10 draft beers. Food menu is bar bites- the steak fries are salty/delicious, and the wings are messy but tasty! Year-round patio is also a huge plus!

I have never given this bar the time of day to try it because it's normally not very crowded. They have decent specials, so I decided to try it on a day with a taco special! I was pleasantly surprised with the tacos! They have four different types of tacos. The bar itself is just a typical neighborhood bar with a low key crowd and average drinks. I'll definitely stop by for a quick bite again to try other items on the menu.

I've always noticed this place when hopping on the brown line at Sedwick, and jumped on the opportunity to check it out when I noticed a Groupon deal. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for a snack, and it was pretty mellow and laid back. Our server was super friendly and had recommended the pork belly poutine to share between my friend and I. I'm still drooling over remember how tender and juicy the pork belly was. Instead of using traditional fries they used potato wedges which was also a nice touch. The craft beer selection is great and they have a nice variety of styles. Definitely worth a stop by! Til next time cheers!

This place is awesome. Huge and great beer selection. The food is delicious and inexpensive . If you are a sweet potato fries addict like me, don't miss theirs! So fresh and tasty! Owner of the place, Hillary is running it with her heart Definitely coming back!

I love this place. I used to live around the corner before moving to San Francisco, and whenever I am in Chicago I try to make it here. It is cozy, friendly, the food is decent - this ain't no haute cuisine mind you, it is more like a sports bar menu - and the owners and staff are friendly. If you live in Lincoln Park, Old Town, you should definitely stop by.

My foodie friend and I decided to visit Chicago and explore the food scene. I stumbled upon a Groupon for this place and the menu instantly called our attention. Great flight selection. You can choose from beer, wine or whiskey. The beer flights are a great deal considering the quantity you get. The food was phenomenal! Their shrimp and grits was one of the most amazing things we've ever tried! Creamy, chest grits with Gouda cheese, tired with sauteed onions, mushrooms, shrimp and bacon. It was to die for! The hangover poutine with pork belly and scallions was a terrific appetizer and their tomato soup was delicious and creamy. Service was great, server (Alina, if I remember correctly) was extremely attentive. I will definitely be visiting again on my next trip to Chicago!

We all ordered some drinks to start and I went with their twist on an aperol sprtiz (I don't remember the name.....) but its one of their specials that has aperol! And it was delish!!!! After that we got a bunch of bites to eat including some of the happy hour bites. We got the board which had a bunch of different dips of which each was great but have to admit the pimento cheese was my fave! Of course we had to get the parmesan fries and we decided to share the mac and cheese as well. Delicious bites! Our waitress was super great and checked in on us so we ordered a second drink an espresso martini! It was good, not the best I had so stick to the other drinks on the menu! Overall lovely place to stop in for a happy hour. Lots of TVs if you want to catch the game and they open the windows during nice weather. 10/10 if you are in the area!

Unfortunately, my experience at The Vig left me embarrassed, belittled, and questioning why I was treated the way I was. I walked in because the place looked good! We were ready to enjoy ourselves, order drinks, maybe some food, and see what all the hype was about. It was a busy Friday night before the Fourth of July. I understand busy. I'm patient. That's not the issue. After a few minutes, our server--a young blonde woman--walked over. Greeted Said "We've never been here before. Do we order through you, or is there a menu?" Instead of welcoming us, she acted like we had just asked her to solve a math equation. She snapped back, "Yeah, you order from me... or you can just go sit at the bar. So what do you want?" I honestly thought maybe I misheard her because... ain't no way that's how you greet people in an upscale restaurant. So I repeated again if we could get some water while we looked over the menu. That's when she looked me up and down and said, "If you're just going to order water and sit here for hours, you can't do that here." ......mind fcuced......thinking ......You don't know me. You don't know my wallet. You don't know whether I'm about to order one drink or buy the whole top shelf. But somehow, before I even opened the menu, you had already decided I was just there to take up space. Now, I can't say what was going through her mind. But I walked away feeling like she looked at me and immediately made assumptions about the kind of customer I was. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe I wasn't. But perception matters, especially in hospitality. The ironic part? We still ordered drinks. We paid our bill. We tipped. That's just how I was raised. But here's the thing: I'll never spend another dollar there. The ambiance is beautiful, but customer service is what people remember. You can have fancy lighting, expensive cocktails, and Instagram-worthy décor, but if your staff greets paying customers with suspicion instead of hospitality, all that elegance goes right out the window. Do better, The Vig. Because first impressions don't just matter--they're expensive.

Every seat in the house has a good view of a widescreen TV with the game on. The bar has a cozy, casual vibe. On game day it's very loud; if you plan to chat with your group you'll be shouting to be heard! I highly recommend the chicken Caesar wrap. I had low expectations since this is a sports bar but this is probably the best chicken Caesar wrap I've had in my life. In light of how good this meal was I plan to return soon and try the rest of the menu. I also had a cocktail that was tasty and cheaper than some of the drinks on offer from nearby bars ($13).

There is an upstairs area that's a little more loungier whereas the downstairs can get more rowdy on game day. We came during the championship game, and this was the perfect spot to be. We came early to be able to snag some bar seats upstairs and enjoy multiple drinks and food. Drinks are great - some cocktails and beers are only offered downstairs. Food was a mix: Chimichurri cauliflower: smaller portion than I expected, nothing special I'd skip this dish. Ceasar salad: dressing is very heavy on the anchovy paste, otherwise good portion and veggies. Loaded fries: huge portion with lots of great toppings, though I wish their fries were more 'fry' like versus potato skin-like. Chicken tenders: I got this with sweet potato fries, and they were way too salty. The chicken tenders were 4 skimpy pieces of chicken, and I was charged for extra dipping sauces and ketchup. The spicy mango habanero and buffalo are good - skip the garlic parmesan. I will most definitely be back for the vibes, drinks, and service. I'm hoping the food is just working on some kinks and will get better the next time!

The food from Theory never disappoints. Last year, I had the Theory Burger and was delighted by how good it was. This year, I tried the Challah French Toast and it was pleasantly delicious. The Mac and Cheese was also a solid choice, and for $8, they provided a good amount of food! And that Chicken Parm Egg Roll...wow they were so good!! I was skeptical from the name, but this was like having a pizza roll but in egg roll form The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars is because Theory has severely up charged for the Champions League. I recall last year a reservation was $5/person, but this year they charged $15/person. For this reason, we came in at 9AM opening time for an 8-person table and were able to get one without having to pay the reservation fee. I really like how organized Theory is though, as a sports bar. Service has always been great and I may come again for another game!

If you've been to the old spot I'm talking about, you'll notice immediately that The Scout still has the beautiful, soaring ceilings, but they've also remodeled a chunk of the restaurant, which is great! We sat down pretty immediately at a table in the back of the restaurant - not too far from the (new) DJ booth, and our waitress was extremely kind and gave us prompt service. We were just hanging out, listening to the music, when the NFL Divisional playoff game that was on tonight came back on, and let me tell you, it was the loudest game audio I have ever heard in a bar, ever. I've been going to sports bars for most of my adult life, and I get that folks can get excited and loud and that's not what I'm talking about. The audio of just the announcers and players from the telecast were almost exceeding 100 dBA, slow, without the bar cheering. I've been an audio engineer for over 20 years, and that isn't too far off from the base level of what you'll experience at concerts at the United Center (102-110 dBA, slow). We asked twice if the zone that encompassed our area of the restaurant could be turned down - but nothing changed, so we took our food to go and left. It wasn't just "can't have a conversation" loud, it was "I can't think" loud. This place needs to do some system tuning (the example I'll give - if you go to a Yard House the environment is loud and lively but you can still hold a conversation at your table because the audio system is extremely well tuned). The food that we ate when we got home (Kids mac n cheese and buffalo wings) were exceptional, so that's why I'm not leaving a single star. I don't know if we'll be back, I was incredibly disappointed tonight.
