It's easy to park on the street (Spring or First Ave). The Metro is less than 1/2 a mile away. When i taught at the language college nearby, many of the students would go here to relax. We had picnics here when the weather was nice. I am not sure if it is dog friendly, but MCCPC plans to build a dog park in the park off Ellsworth in the near (hopefully) future.

It has been a long time, and I knew I was going to be rusty, so I got to the tennis court early and was going to practice hitting against the tennis wall (is there a name for it?)... Not every tennis court has one so I was happy to see it. But then I realized I had to use the bathroom. That turned into a 20 minute ordeal. I parked on the side of the park farthest away from the tennis courts, so walking around took a bit. I only counted three porter potties in the entire park, and one was locked. The other two were a good 5-minute walk away, actually right outside my car... And they were not kept up well. And the hand sanitizer/soap in mine was empty. During this time, my friend arrived, who also had to use the bathroom haha. When we finally return to the tennis courts, we actually didn't end up playing because he observed so many noticeable cracks and the sagging nets. We didn't think we would get a good game in, so we actually left. This park seems great for locals within walking distance and for their massive fields and just getting a nice stroll in. But I wouldn't come here for tennis. And make sure you use the bathroom before you go!

Located blocks away from the local Safeway grocery store, this local neighborhood park is a great place. We came here one weekend with our family and there is plenty of parking here. There is a large field where we saw teams playing sports outside. There is a long trail for those who like to ride their bikes and or jogging. If you walk through the paved trail, you will come to a fairly large playground. Actually, there are two playgrounds that are walking distance from each other. Literally a minute walk away from each other. One seems to be an older playground and it appears the other playground is more renovated. They have tons of options for younger and older children to play. A list of activities within the playground are swings, slides, rope climbing, fire trucks, motorcycles, swinging seats and electronic sound boards for children to press on. Please note that as of May 2022, it appears the electronic sound board with buttons is out of battery. So you wont hear any sounds from it. There are tons of trees in this park so you can find some relief for those hot sunny days. There are benches throughout the park so you can take a seat and people watch. There are multiple parking lots here so there will be plenty of parking. On days where there are social / sports events, parking might get filled up faster. However, we did not have any trouble finding parking. If you are in need of a park with lots of things to do, this place is a good option. It's not big like the Wheaton Region Park, but its a nice playground area. Nice trails and plenty of grassy areas to sit and relax. Good spot for yoga too if you need a nice and calm place to practice.

Mixed Experience with Several Issues - did a graduation party…read more Location & Accessibility: Damascus National Park Shelter A is located three entrances down from the main park entrance. Don't get lost and sits down a hill, requiring you to take the sidewalk route rather than going directly to the shelter. This makes it a longer walk when carrying supplies for events. The park has three other shelters, but they were all booked for our date, so we had to settle for this available option. Facilities: The shelter accommodates approximately 60 people seated comfortably, with room for additional standing guests. However, there are significant noise issues - the restroom facilities (separate men's and women's stalls on the left side) create disruptive flushing sounds that carry over to the main seating area. Be aware that they charge extra for electricity at this shelter. *Major Concerns:* Parking nightmare: Located next to a baseball field, parking becomes extremely limited during games. We weren't notified of this conflict when booking. The situation was so bad that police arrived due to people parking on the grass. Double booking confusion or ?? Despite having a confirmed reservation from 9 AM to 9 PM, other people were using the shelter when we arrived, claiming they had it until 1 PM. While they were accommodating and left after we showed our confirmation email, this booking system error was frustrating and shouldn't happen. Privacy issues: The restrooms are used by the general public, not just shelter renters, despite there being a portable facility by the baseball field. Bring extra toilet paper!!! Positives: There are some playground swings for children near the tennis courts, which is a nice touch for families. Bottom Line: Between the parking disasters, booking confusion, noise issues, additional electricity charges, and lack of private facilities, I won't be booking Damascus National Park Shelter A again. I'd recommend booking one of the other three shelters at this park well in advance, or looking at alternative venues that offer more reliable coordination and adequate parking.

Playground includes swings and park bench. Joggers and dog-walkers make for light pedestrian traffic. I regret not checking out the less-credited relic of the MoCo Art in the Parks initiative on a breezier day. Despite looking a bit weathered by the elements, the Wind Harps sculpture off of Kings Valley Road was still briefly interesting to look at.

Great for dogs too. As a dog owner, if you know that your dog does not understand your commands and you don't know how they will react with others, please do not approach other dogs. Please spread awareness about pets, some dogs do not like other dogs and you cannot force them to like them. Protect their boundaries because you are their only advocate.

We've been coming here for years…read more The Lois Y. Green Conservation Park consists of a 200-acre parcel that Lois Y. Green gave to the M-NCPPC in 1975 and an additional dedicated stream buffer area of 50 acres. The 250-acre conservation park is located adjacent to the Montgomery County Airpark and is surrounded by residential development. When Mrs. Lois Green donated the park to M-NCPPC, she specifically directed that the park, "shall be used as an open space, for parkland, and for recreation in such a manner as to evidence the conservation of soil, water, woods, and wildlife... and shall be maintained essentially in its natural condition..." Today the Park is a remarkable oasis in a highly developed area of the County We never fail to see the Eastern Blue Birds, Red Birds or other birds, Red Fox, Squirrels or Deer. The take-offs and landings from the Air Park seem so close to the tree tops. In fact, they periodically use a helicopter to cut or "mow" the tree tops to insure the best viability for the pilots. With the entrance on Snouffer School Road, & Goshen, a fairly secluded walk can be gained! We saw, only 5 other groups, (in over an hour,) & everyone was on the same page, executing social distancing, even on narrow foot paths. There r no facilities, & no garbage cans, so whatever u bring, must come back into your car. Today, we saw a trash pile (mostly dog poop bags,) at the entrance. The path winds around three lakes, so you can make your walk, long or short. It's very quiet & relaxing. Pls don't get alarmed by low-flying aircrafts, the park backs up to Montgomery Airpark.

I rarely rate a park/trail/nature below five stars. It is Mother Nature so far be it from me to…read morerate it below five. However, this nature/walking/running/biking trail was man made. It follows the high tension electrical wires that run along, fittingly, Electric Avenue. Along the route are small parks, lakes, and a few nature trails. Most of the trail goes through the back yards are well-maintained homes and farms. The entire paved (bituminous...black because it contains bitumen or asphalt) portion of trail is approximately six miles between Glenn Dale Road and and Bowie. The trail used to be a state-of-the-art electric commuter train railway (the eponymous Washington, Baltimore, & Annapolis Railroad...from 1908-1935). Some tracks were incorporated into the trail past Race Track Road in Bowie. Today the trail is used by pedestrians, runners, and bicyclists to burn some calories. The hills are not too steep but will challenge you. The folks are friendly and the trail is well maintained. Would that there were more restrooms. In Glenn Dale there is a community center we're one may use indoor facilities. Parking is available at three major points: 1) Glenn Dale Road, 2) Glenn Dale Splash Park, and 3) Race Track Road. This is my favorite walking spot in Glenn Dale. Not too crowded but the bicyclist sometimes think they are riding in a Tour de France peloton. Some groups use the trail for group rides and on those days just watch out. There are many thrilling tunnels and wooden bridge crossings all of which are solid and sound structures the exact opposite of death traps. The trail is almost a straight line with much signage and many markers. It would be almost impossible to get lost. Wildlife is plentiful too. Birds of all stripes and feathers, even woodpeckers that you can hear jackhammering away on trees. Hares and turtles. Deer and foxes. Amphibians and small rodents. You know, things found in woodlands, forest, and marshlands. There are many horse farms and other farms along the route that account for the sounds of roosters crowing in the morning and the moo of cows. People with dogs usually are good about following leash laws. Overall just an eclectic mix of all manner of flora and fauna. Four stars due to the high tension lines that scare me because I always think one is going to fall or that the magnetic energy may be harmful to health. Great people, well-maintained trail surface, and Mother Nature in her stunning simplicity.

The B&A trail is a wonderful walking/running/biking trail that stretches, obviously, from Annapolis…read moreto Baltimore. I accessed the trail in Annapolis. It was a bit confusing as the Annapolis parking lot was probably a half mile away from the trail. It was easy for me to just ride my bike there but I would be hesitant to bring kids and have them ride on the shoulder of the road where cars were speeding by at 60 mph. Once on the trail, i seriously enjoyed every second of my ride. The trail was wide enough that it was not a problem to pass other exercisers. Everyone seemed to know to stay to the right and pass to the left. It was not overly hilly and the trail was well maintained with no cracks/ potholes. Every few miles there were cute little picnic tables near coffee shops and cafes where riders were meeting up for meals. I didn't stop as I was well fueled during my ride but I will plan to do that next time I ride.
