Great for dogs too. As a dog owner, if you know that your dog does not understand your commands and you don't know how they will react with others, please do not approach other dogs. Please spread awareness about pets, some dogs do not like other dogs and you cannot force them to like them. Protect their boundaries because you are their only advocate.

Mixed Experience with Several Issues - did a graduation party…read more Location & Accessibility: Damascus National Park Shelter A is located three entrances down from the main park entrance. Don't get lost and sits down a hill, requiring you to take the sidewalk route rather than going directly to the shelter. This makes it a longer walk when carrying supplies for events. The park has three other shelters, but they were all booked for our date, so we had to settle for this available option. Facilities: The shelter accommodates approximately 60 people seated comfortably, with room for additional standing guests. However, there are significant noise issues - the restroom facilities (separate men's and women's stalls on the left side) create disruptive flushing sounds that carry over to the main seating area. Be aware that they charge extra for electricity at this shelter. *Major Concerns:* Parking nightmare: Located next to a baseball field, parking becomes extremely limited during games. We weren't notified of this conflict when booking. The situation was so bad that police arrived due to people parking on the grass. Double booking confusion or ?? Despite having a confirmed reservation from 9 AM to 9 PM, other people were using the shelter when we arrived, claiming they had it until 1 PM. While they were accommodating and left after we showed our confirmation email, this booking system error was frustrating and shouldn't happen. Privacy issues: The restrooms are used by the general public, not just shelter renters, despite there being a portable facility by the baseball field. Bring extra toilet paper!!! Positives: There are some playground swings for children near the tennis courts, which is a nice touch for families. Bottom Line: Between the parking disasters, booking confusion, noise issues, additional electricity charges, and lack of private facilities, I won't be booking Damascus National Park Shelter A again. I'd recommend booking one of the other three shelters at this park well in advance, or looking at alternative venues that offer more reliable coordination and adequate parking.

Playground includes swings and park bench. Joggers and dog-walkers make for light pedestrian traffic. I regret not checking out the less-credited relic of the MoCo Art in the Parks initiative on a breezier day. Despite looking a bit weathered by the elements, the Wind Harps sculpture off of Kings Valley Road was still briefly interesting to look at.

The playground has an impressive amount of equipment and there are plenty of benches and relax on. There are even hills I would want to sled off of! Oh, and so many amazing spots for photo ops. On a surprisingly warm November Wednesday my granddaughter had awoken from her nap less than an…read morehour earlier and we needed park time before it got dark outside. I don't like how early it gets dark just after Halloween and we are told to set our clocks back on hour. I picked out this park less than 2 miles from my house so we could enjoy some fresh air & play time in the last few minutes of daylight. I'd been here one other time with her. It was almost dinner time & the park was very peaceful with just a handful of people running, hiking, walking and sitting on a bench listening to a podcast or music on their headphones. It is beautiful here with woodlands on 3 sides and a large open area with a soccer field visible just over a ridge. This play area is bigger than the one at nearby Wells park which is a favorite of ours. There are swings for children of all sizes including adults like me that are still children inside. She is days away from being 3 years old and this is one of her favorite things to do! Being such a bold and great climber she also spent time climbing up the walls on the multiple jungle Jim's here. One of which is quite a high climb. She didn't try the one that jets outward at a slight angle though. The ground here is mulch covered to cushion any possible falls. And if your a slide fan there's a good assortment of them here from short & straight to long and curvy. Older kids can hang on the monkey bars. My granddaughter asked me to lift her up to grab onto them. There is a steering wheel on one platform. We pretended to be driving to the store. It offered no bathroom facilities that I could see and was not lit at night-time (for better or worse), but it is quite a pleasant little space in the daytime.

Dawson Farm Park is a great little local park with lots of amenities for locals. There is a…read moreplayground for children, a gazebo for cookouts, a creek to play in, and plenty of picnic tables. It is also nearby to the local high school, so there's plenty of space for pregame activities and summer fun in the sun. What really sets this park apart is the amount of shade received by the old growth trees. You can enjoy a summertime lunch in the shade without having to worry about the heat. It also has a close proximity to several other parks, making it a great waypoint for your bicycle or running trips, and also as a quick shortcut from the high school to the main neighborhoods. Stop on by and play around-this is a great local park. I especially love the historic nature and history of this park; this was the location of one of the first farms (or one of the oldest farms) that still relatable to Rockville today. You can read all about the Dawson family and their farm at some of the historic Education signs you'll find detailing the history around the park. So if you've got some time to kill and just want to relax, or if you want to learn a little bit about the history of the Rockville area, come on over to Dawson Farm Park and you'll get plenty of both.

The equipment (as stated) is modern and new, with neat touches like a solar panel cell phone charging station for adults. There is also a huge field and baseball diamond, and a pavilion with benches and a grill. My daughter loved it so much, she refused to leave. Which means a 5 star review even if it means exhaustion for the parent! As a bonus, there is an ice cream park that will stop by in the afternoon. I don't know the exact schedule but both times we visited they showed up.

The entrance was easy to spot from the street and there was plenty of parking. I noticed one of those solar phone chargers, a playground, and a big field. A bunch of kids were playing soccer. I spotted a pavilion with one long bench... that's why I settled to eat my food. It was quite relaxing -- and the food is a story for another time. The park seems a good size for a neighborhood park, but I didn't take too much time to walk around since I had just planned to leave after I ate. It was pretty chill, and I will definitely return if I'm in the area and the weather is nice.
