I had Leona and her camera over for my husbands' family reunion! A first with a professional…read morephotographer. From the start, Leona communicated very well via email/phone prior to the event with the expectations, logistics/visions/ ect. Very positive energy and aura. She listened to "my vision" of what they day was going to be like....a little hectic and chaotic with SO many relatives in town for the event....but she took on the challenge and came with her game face & camera around her neck (with a smile & Smarties for the kids). She was very easy and relaxed which made the day that much easier!!! I didn't want the event to be overshadowed with a photographer "snapping photos in their face" or bothering those family members who were trying to visit.....we were going for casual and unobtrusive. Leona was not only friendly but very professional. She took casual photos as well as candids. She was very under the radar unless we asked her to snap certain must have moments/photos!! THe ironic thing is, I had just been to a wedding that my 2 yr old daughter was in the day before and THAT OTHER photographer actually "snapped" at her for stepping on the wedding dress.....AND had my little one was in tears and not wanting to take pictures because she was now afraid of him and quipped at her! He did not know how to pose her in pictures considering her small height...there were posts from the bridge blocking my daughter from being in most of the pics.!! REALLY??? THAT photographer obviously did not know how to work with young children NOT THE CASE with Leona!!!! The children at the reunion gravitated to Leona and her lens and she was able to capture their attention....make them silly and giglle and HAVE fun! One of the moms, who's a returning client of Lisa's, coordinated the date, and Lisa managed all the individual contracts, waivers, and payments via Venmo seamlessly. She kept communication clear and organized through a group text with all the moms, which was incredibly helpful. Lisa was professional, patient, and never made the girls feel rushed. She's familiar with our school's location and offered thoughtful suggestions for the best lighting and backgrounds, which made a noticeable difference in the quality of the shots. To make the shoot even more special, I'd suggest bringing a few personal props, like a graduation cap and gown, a framed baby photo, roses, or leis. These don't need to be in every shot, 1-2 could add a meaningful and fun touch for a fews shots. Our group opted for a second outfit change into their college t-shirts, which added a personal and celebratory feel as they look ahead to their next chapter. Choosing photos was actually difficult, in the best way, because there were so many beautiful options. Each girl ended up with at least 2-3 individual portraits and 2-3 group shots they absolutely loved, but honestly, there were many more to choose from. Doing the shoot with friends made the experience feel more relaxed and fun. The girls were cheering each other on, helping fix hair and outfits, and just enjoying the moment together. It took the pressure off and created a supportive, joyful vibe.
