My art portrait work comes wrapped in a senior portrait, family portrait, a child's portrait or a contemporary portrait that celebrates you and where you are right now in your life. They are a specific vision that we work together to create. It has a distinct vibe that you, as my client, help to conceptualize. These are meant to be printed, framed and hung on a wall in your home.
My headshot work is for actors, corporate, business branding or just about any other reason you would need a fabulous professional headshot. I work with several hair and makeup artists in studio to take your images from good to great.
Editorial work is a creative outlet for me. I enjoy working with models of all levels to create images that could easily be seen on the pages of magazines.
History
Established in 2005.
At the beginning of this century to learn the craft of picture taking. I attended The Academy of Art College in San Francisco.
These these were the film days. I learned it was expensive to make mistakes, no deleting and starting over! I studied light, composition, color theory and most importantly I learned how the instrument worked and how to manipulate the camera to get a desired affect.
I started out to build a business in 2005. I cut my teeth on the fast paced life of weddings.
In 2010, I expanded to include portrait work. I cut back my weddings to focus on portrait work.
By 2013, I was only doing a couple small weddings a year and devoting most of my attention to artistic portraits, headshots and editorial work.
Meet the Business Owner: Leona Darnell L.
I got the idea of doing photography one night while sitting with a friend. She was taking remote photography classes in order to sell her work one day.
What struck me was this; she was spending money and doing remote instruction to do something she loved to do. What I thought of college was that I *had* to to it. I enjoyed my classes well enough, but I was actually there because I thought that is what I was supposed to do after high school.
Back in San Francisco, I enrolled at the Academy of Art. I learned how to work a camera. I learned on film. I learned it was expensive to make mistakes. I couldn't take a bunch of pictures and hope for the best and delete the rest. I had to understand exposure, f stops, shutter speeds, film speeds and how they all worked together to produce what I wanted.
After many many invaluable classes, I set off to start a business. It was rough at first, but I knew that's what I wanted and was motivated to attain it.
