Leading up to our wedding, we met with (and spoke) to James a number of times to make sure that our special day was captured perfectly. He and his team are extremely responsive and were incredible to work with. He ensured that we had every formal shot planned in advance so that we barely missed any of the cocktail hour! We elected to do a "first look" to avoid missing more of the cocktail hour and reception and James and his team were absolutely visionaries in crafting incredible photos, all while making us feel like we were models in a photo shoot. This review for the amazing team at Bustle and Twine is nearly a year overdue. (Shame on me!). Our experience with James and Lisa was so amazing that I have to share... A year or so before I was engaged I helped my best friend pick her wedding photographer. She showed me a series of portfolios for various photographers and I picked James' photos as my hands down favorite. She hired him and as a member of her wedding party I interacted with James a lot on their big day. My experience with him then was so great that I didn't look at any other photographers when it was my turn to get married. I knew we wouldn't hire anyone but him. James and Lisa take the time to get to know you. They find out what is important to you so they can perfectly document your wedding. And since they are so caring and attentive, they fit seamlessly into your wedding day. I was especially impressed with the time they spent at our rehearsal dinner. It's fun to look back on those photos, and I really appreciate the time they spent to get to know the wedding party. Another great thing about James and Lisa is the speed with which they post your photos. When you wake up the day after your wedding there is a tiny bit of sadness that the big day has come and gone, but you know you have pictures on the way to help you relive it. We had photos within a day or two. I have friends who had to wait weeks/months with other photographers. Torture! I'll conclude this by saying that my father gives out approximately one compliment per year, and he's used his lifetime quota on the Bustle and Twine team. I can't imagine our wedding day without them. I tell anyone who will listen where to go if they want the best possible experience with a wedding photography dream team. Bustle and Twine are by far the BEST photographers ever! Not only are they so incredibly talented, but James and Lisa are so great to work with! The wedding walk through the day before the wedding was definitely stressful. James had decided to come to check out the venue and it was just really nice having him there- not only to capture the chaos on camera but because his energy is always just so calm, fun, and relaxed and truly made the experience more enjoyable! Everything on our actual wedding day was behind schedule because the bridal party got a late start-James and Lisa just took charge and made sure we got all the important pictures, regardless if I was hesitant due to timing. They completely went with the flow even though my original plan didn't pan out because I was late, and even came up with a much better way of shooting the day and ensuring the pictures were truly a refection of Billy's and my love. Bustle and Twine doesn't just take pictures, they put all their hearts and souls into their work so in the end, they don't just have some good shots here and there, they tell a story from beginning to end, with nothing but beauty and love. Their precision and attention to detail is unbelieveable and their ability to recognize when a beautiful picture should to taken, although not recognizable to an inexperienced photographer, is truly remarkable!! Both Lisa and James are so fun to work with! They basically came over and changed the mood from a stressful situation to ultimate bliss-yes, they really are That good! In addition to the hundreds of amazing photos they took, I must say, Wow, they are quick!! Most photographers take months for pics- we honestly had a bunch two days after the wedding! That's unheard of!!! In addition, Bustle and Twine was immediately responsive and always soo helpful! All the pictures are unbelievable and each one in truly better then the next!! I honestly feel so blessed to have worked with Bustle and Twine! They are both so cool- people thought we had been friends for years! They are also so organized and went to the hotel and venue ahead of time to ensure they could capture the best spots for the pictures- and wow, did they ever!! My (now) husband and I had *THE BEST POSSIBLE EXPERIENCE* imaginable with James - along with his assistant - as our wedding photographer! Honestly. I've been putting off writing a review because I knew it could not do Bustle and Twine justice, but it's unfair to every couple out there not to hear how awesome James is and have the opportunity to book him for your wedding. We were married in July, but started searching well over a year beforehand for a photographer. James (then James Hall Photography, reviews at http://www.yelp.com/biz/james-hall-photography-fairfax ...same person, the company has just changed names) was recommended to us along with another few photographers in the area. After looking at websites, it was clear that his photos represented the style and quality we were looking for. As an added bonus, we noticed that while his photos are better, his prices were about half of the other high-end photographer we looked at. He met with us over Skype since we were unable to fly across country to meet him (we lived in Boston while planning out wedding at Barndiva in Healdsburg, CA). He had great guidance and recommendations on organizing some "must have" family and group photos ahead of time. This was essential to making our wedding day run smoothly. We first met in-person at the rehearsal. James came to meet with us and review the layout at no additional charge. He does offer a rehearsal dinner package that we didn't purchase but definitely regretted later. The day of the wedding he spent over 10 hours taking pictures and stayed until the music stopped at the reception. I hate getting my picture taken because I'm amazing at taking terrible pictures. James put us at ease, got great shots of all parts of the day - preparation, family, ceremony, dinner, reception. As a bonus, he found some gorgeous vineyards to take us to in the area to get pictures that prove we really did have a wine country wedding despite not having a wedding at a vineyard. James was prompt getting photos edited and on the website with the first couple being ready within a few days of the wedding and all - nearly 800 - pictures being up in under 3 weeks. Bustle and Twine gives you digital copies of all pictures and even sent us a flash drive (beautifully packaged) so we didn't have to download all of the high res images. The wedding day went by SO FAST! We are so glad to have so many gorgeous, romantic, fun, beautiful pictures of our wedding day. Wow - I could go on and on. Happy to answer any questions anyone has, but I would, without a doubt recommend him to everyone. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! read more

Can I give Bustle & Twine 6 stars? Wow! James and team just killed it for both our pre-wedding photoshoot, the day-of, and the day-after wedding reception/party. They fully captured our decor, scenery, guests, and most of all the joy of our wedding day. They managed to do a day-of video cut within an hour that blew us all away. And they edited the photos/made them all available as part of the package pretty quickly after the wedding date. Everyone who has seen our photos and videos have asked us who our photographer/videographer was. Last but not least, James & team are not only professional but also personal. They do this because they love their jobs (and are highly skilled at it)....but also because they love capturing the emotions and special moments that make up a wedding. read more

There's only one way to describe the experience with Bustle & Twine - WOW!!! James and Lisa recently photographed our wedding, the whole experience was incredible from start to finish. The level of professionalism and ease in working with Bustle & Twine was simply a pleasure. James and Lisa are very skilled, professional photographers. James took the time in advance to scout suggested locations at the same time as the planned shoot. He went above and beyond, and knew exactly the shots he wanted. Not only are they both incredible photographers, their friendly, upbeat approach puts everyone at ease, they completely blend in, as though they were one of our guests at our wedding. Friends and family would say I have some pretty high standards. Bustle & Twine completely surpassed any expectation, even with the preliminary first set of pictures. Many people freeze or become uncomfortable with video, including myself. Jordan completely blended in as he shot our wedding, we hardly even noticed he was there. We couln't be happier with Lisa and her kindness and attentiveness to our wedding. We had a very small ceremony with just 9 guests. Since we live in NJ we couldn't meet with her in person however we spoke on the phone in detail about our plans for the evening. Lisa stopped by our rehearsal dinner to meet face to face and her smile was just as pleasant as she was on the phone. Lisa captured the breathtaking scenery on top of Baker Ridge which meant the world to us since it's the main reason we came out to Healdsburg for our wedding. SO great to work with. We initially reached out to James, who photographed our friend's wedding. James was great for my friend's wedding (I was a bridesmaid and the day/pics were just fab). James was not available for our wedding, but recommended Michelle. We LOVED Michelle!!! She was so great to work with. We requested an initial meeting at a bar near our place just to get to know each other before committing. It went great - she was very prepared and we felt very comfortable with her by the end. We opted for an engagement shoot which was a great way for us all to get to know each other more. She was very easy to work with: picking shot spots, flexibility, pre-communication, wardrobe suggestions, drove us around, taking it all very seriously. In preparation for the wedding, she went above and beyond to scope out the different sites (multiple times), she attended the rehearsal the day before to map out particular shots, and made sure to prepare us and all parties involved. Day-of, Michelle and Karna were on-point and early! All our shotlist and more were taken care-of. The pics are just gorgeous. Seriously - ask to see her portfolio. I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review for Lisa Chamberlin and everyone at Bustle & Twine! These guys shot our October wedding in San Francisco and my husband and I both feel so, so lucky to have worked with them! Lisa and Michelle were so sweet and organized- our bridesmaids and groomsmen loved them- and also struck the perfect balance of getting a lot of good shots but always seeming to be out of the way. We had an unusual situation where our wedding was at Fort Mason during Fleet Week and they were even able to get some shots with the Blue Angels jets flying above our wedding party! This resulted in totally incredible photos that are unique to our day. We have so many amazing pictures that we haven't even been able to narrow them down for an album yet. Also, they make it really easy to share all of them online with anyone we give the link to, so our parents were able to start to check out a few photos while we were on our honeymoon! Also, I am a little picky about photos of me and Lisa was so super patient in pulling up alternate shots of me & mom, etc, etc, until I found one where my (possibly imaginary) double chin wasn't visible to me ;). Our son and daughter-in-law hired Kirstina Sang to photograph their wedding last August in Stern Grove in San Francisco. She met with the bride and groom well in advance of the event, making sure she understood their preferences and priorities. She arrived well prepared, and in plenty of time to set up and get the 'lay of the land'. She managed to be in multiple locations while remaining inconspicuous throughout. She captured all aspects of the evening, inside and out, absolutely beautifully: from shots of the bride and her girlfriends in the dressing room, to 'first look' shots in the forest, the ceremony itself in the towering redwood grove, the family portraits, to the casual pictures inside and out of the wedding guests enjoying cocktails and dinner. We particularly love her simple vignettes of things like a plate of cheese, the guest book, the program, and the bridal bouquet and gown. Although weather and light in that particular setting can be unpredictable, she adjusted and adapted to fit each context, revealing the beauty of the location as well as the people. The lighting in each photo is phenomenal. She quickly sent us several dozen 'favorite' shots and posted the rest (500!) on a private site on her website within a month including a thumb drive. We can select whichever we like to send on to family and friends, or have printed. At our request, she even photo-shopped a bit to extend an unreasonably short tie! We are so happy that Kirstina was chosen to photograph this important event in our family. She was the epitome of professionalism and artistry. read more
