I reached out to Irene (owner) about registering my child in her daycare because my child's previous school was pretty far from my house and I wanted to free up my driving time. She was agreeable and the daycare felt like a small family so overall I left with a good impression. The first day that my child ( 2 years old , almost three) was there , I get a call at 12 pm because he refused to nap, was "hyper" and was "jumping on the sleeping bags" they set out. Mind you , this is his first day in a new environment. She asked if I could pick him up. I complied and grabbed him because I didnt know what else to do .. I had never had a daycare request this. The second day , I get a call at 11 am that my child was "going up the slide wrong way" and that he got on top of a child chair and tried to jump from it and got hurt.. could I pick him up ? By this point , I started to think that this daycare wasnt equipped to deal with toddler behavior. They weren't willing to assist him in acclimating to the school in anyway and were quick to disrupt my workday for situations they should have been able to resolve with a little patience. By the third day , they told me that they had to hire extra help to have my child in the class and that they didnt feel it was the right place for him (only five kids in the class). When i asked why , they said he was too hyper. They gave me two weeks to find a new daycare. Simultaneously, they kept telling me daily that "he was doing so much better" and no incident was ever recorded ( he wasnt biting , hitting, being aggressive, breaking things etc). Everytime I went to pick him up he was playing with a puzzle ( quietly) or playing normally in the playground. Obviously I became distraught over this experience because I work and needed reliable child care and also because she was insinuating my child had some sort of condition for which he needed extra assistance. I took him to the pediatrician , who evaluated him and confirmed that there was absolutely nothing I needed to worry about and that it was all normal toddler behavior. I then noticed that there was a clear shortage of teachers in the schools and that the teacher in my school app was not the same one in my child's classroom ( honestly I am almost positive she was an aid and not a teacher). Overall , if you are considering this daycare , I suggest you do a trial run to see if your kid meets the owners expectations of the owner and I encourage you to reconsider if reliable child care is needed.

My son was speech delayed until 4 years old and after being in this school for 2 weeks he was coming home speaking in sentences, and months later everyone was surprised he had ever even received a speech delay diagnosis...true story. Both me and my husband are working parent and this came in as a shock and had no idea what to do. After doing some research and visited a few schools in a matter of days we decided to go with primrose. While they didn't necessarily had the space at the moment they were able to make an exception based on our situation. Is it an expensive school? Yes, very expensive to be honest. However , the level of education and care he received was unmatched. I do truly think they care about their kids and the quality is very high. My daughter attended Open Valleys Academy when she was just a toddler, and to this day--now 8 years old--she still talks about the trauma she experienced there. One of the most upsetting incidents involved a teacher named Luz, who was aggressive and rough with the children. My daughter was picked up by the ear--an absolutely unacceptable and abusive act. When I brought this to the attention of the principal, Cristina, she acted as if it was just a "misunderstanding" and brushed it off. There was no accountability, no investigation, no concern. Just excuses. My daughter cried almost every morning before going to that place, and at the time, I didn't understand why. I thought it was normal separation anxiety. I had no idea she was enduring such mistreatment. One day, at only 3 years old, she tried repeatedly to ask the teacher to let her use the restroom. The teacher ignored her, too "busy" to care. My daughter ended up wetting herself. Instead of compassion or understanding, the teacher humiliated her--putting a diaper on her and placing her in the baby room for the rest of the day. That act alone traumatized her. Open Valleys Academy failed my child in the most fundamental way. They did not protect her. They did not care for her. They silenced and ignored her. And the administration, especially Cristina, chose to look the other way rather than confront the cruelty happening under their own roof. No child should have to go through what my daughter went through. No parent should have to live with the guilt of unknowingly sending their child into a harmful environment. Please--if you're considering this school, look deeper. Listen to your child. Trust your gut. I wish I had.
