I wish the learning content was a little more culturally inclusive from time to time but not a huge issue. The staff have been great, Ms. B, Ms. Amy, and Ms Nancy have been especially helpful. They really go above and beyond in making the school experiences magical and fun for the kiddos. If you're looking for a place your child will learn and be safe, they are great. Another counselor told me daughter " too bad you aren't doing sports 5 days a week so I wouldn't have to see you." Seriously, these people have no clue how to effectively supervise children. Carole is extremely knowledgeable and has tremendous expertise and an impressive educational background. She clearly understands early childhood education, children, and development. Her staff are extremely caring and they really do treat the children like their own. Trusting your young child with someone all day, every day is hard but after seeing how wonderful Carole and her staff are and how happy my daughter is I didn't have a doubt in my mind that my daughter would be loved and taken care of and would learn in a safe, developmentally appropriate environment. It is very clean and organized and the "classroom" and children's space is a completely separate space in the house dedicated just for the kids. The children are able to play outside, have plenty of space inside for different centers, and are fed meals prepared by Carole -- no junk! This is not a day care or a babysitter. This is a place where young children learn and grow. Carole has structured lessons and activities that engage the children, incorporate nature, and teach developmentally appropriate skills for the 0-3 age range. Our daughter is more than prepared for Pre-K3 and has learned so much at Busy Butterflies. We will truly miss Carole and her staff but they will always be a part of our family! Both me and my husband are working parent and this came in as a shock and had no idea what to do. After doing some research and visited a few schools in a matter of days we decided to go with primrose. While they didn't necessarily had the space at the moment they were able to make an exception based on our situation. Is it an expensive school? Yes, very expensive to be honest. However , the level of education and care he received was unmatched. I do truly think they care about their kids and the quality is very high. My daughter attended Open Valleys Academy when she was just a toddler, and to this day--now 8 years old--she still talks about the trauma she experienced there. One of the most upsetting incidents involved a teacher named Luz, who was aggressive and rough with the children. My daughter was picked up by the ear--an absolutely unacceptable and abusive act. When I brought this to the attention of the principal, Cristina, she acted as if it was just a "misunderstanding" and brushed it off. There was no accountability, no investigation, no concern. Just excuses. My daughter cried almost every morning before going to that place, and at the time, I didn't understand why. I thought it was normal separation anxiety. I had no idea she was enduring such mistreatment. One day, at only 3 years old, she tried repeatedly to ask the teacher to let her use the restroom. The teacher ignored her, too "busy" to care. My daughter ended up wetting herself. Instead of compassion or understanding, the teacher humiliated her--putting a diaper on her and placing her in the baby room for the rest of the day. That act alone traumatized her. Open Valleys Academy failed my child in the most fundamental way. They did not protect her. They did not care for her. They silenced and ignored her. And the administration, especially Cristina, chose to look the other way rather than confront the cruelty happening under their own roof. No child should have to go through what my daughter went through. No parent should have to live with the guilt of unknowingly sending their child into a harmful environment. Please--if you're considering this school, look deeper. Listen to your child. Trust your gut. I wish I had.
