Never having the money to wear any of the seasons designers clothes, I did try and pick up a piece or two on sale at the end of the season. I always thought a great pair of shoes, handbag and the mantra of " hi - low" would get me by. Over the last 2 years I realized I had some great pieces in my closet but had no idea how to put them together or how to think outside of the box. And I didnt know how to find a stylist who would work with a budget, Until I met Barbra.... I purchased Barbra's services off of guilt group on a blind whim. I had never met her, seen her work or had even spoken to her. I knew I needed her though. I NEEDED someone to sift through my clothes and create outfit options for me. I didn't want to be obligated to a stylist who only shops retail because I have 4 NYC private schools to pay for. Not an option particularly in this economy. Barbra has the perfect business paradigm for normal people who want to look great. Her thinking is awesome. Firstly? Everything is about reworking or consigning. She does an intake phone call before you meet her which could go on forever because her energy is much fun. (you hang up feeling like you just talked to your best friend!)then she comes bubbling into your home with a huge suitcase of consigned clothing from either her own clients or from Decades 2 in LA. The hottest and highest end consignment store for all the stylists and their actor clients. Then you get down to work. She is a magician with styling. Things I didn't even know I owned and things that I hadn't worn in years, she made hip, current and edgy. She styled my mothers 45 year old velvet Pucci maxi skirt and it rocked. I could go on and on. I ended up spending two afternoons with B and cld have used two more. I took pics of every outfit with accessories and shoes, bags. I refer to those pics every time I go out. Moreover, people notice. I get so many compliments on how I look and I can feel people tracking me when I go to a restaurant. Barbra has given me new insight onto dressing and how to present myself. She truly has made a huge impact and I thank her all the time. My husband is theist happy! Thanks Babs!!! Plz excuse typos. I'm on my iPhone.

Working with a stylist might seem like a total splurge, but when I had an unexpected career change…read more-- it was time to let go of the past and enter the new (fiercer) future. It now became a necessity. I first met Barbra at an event at Beckley's on Melrose. She was part of a group of experts discussing the importance of fashion on image and branding. After I heard her no-nonsense eco-friendly approach to styling (reuse, repurpose, recycle -- THEN buy something new), I knew I wanted to work with her. Of course it didn't hurt that she is also a British Vogue online correspondent and a published author of Closet Control. Any way, she takes her business SERIOUSLY. Prior to her first power session with you, she advises you to get plenty of rest and eat something because it is going to be intense. Wow. This was kinda like the advice I got prior to doing my first Triathalon last year. And then we went for it. Years of clothes and shoes were thrown out, and things were repurposed and reworked to create things I didn't think of putting together. Old faves were retired, but that ultimately made room for new faves. This was some serious therapy as I was sooooo attached to my stuff, even though I hadn't worn things in years. Some stuff still had tags. Anyway, I have a better sense of what woks for my figure. She also strongly suggested that I rethink my attraction to expensive handbags, and invest that money elsewhere in my wardrobe. I still refuse to let go of Marc and Louis and Yves, but I haven't bought anything new. This makes the BF very happy.

Carolyn is so kind and sweet, and she made going through my outdated closet efficient and fun. She took into consideration things I cared about, and found me looks that met my needs, but also breathed new life into my wardrobe (like color! and patterns!). The whole process was also so, so easy. Carolyn brought a whole bunch of clothes, I had fun trying things on, and then she came back one last time with different sizes and some tailored clothes. I really appreciated that she understands fit -- when it came to something fitting well, that was a non-negotiable, and I learned a lot from Carolyn. The lookbook is a great resource and I've been using it when I need ideas. But honestly a lot of the pieces go so well with each other that I haven't had any problem putting something together. The whole experience was far more fun than I expected, and it's had a bigger impact on my day to day than I ever expected. Thank you, Carolyn!

Disappointing experience. The digital wardrobe was an interesting concept, but I did not find it particularly useful in practice. Most of the items I purchased were ultimately returned or sold. There were also purchases I did not feel I had approved, and when I attempted to address these concerns, I did not receive a meaningful response. Because my concerns remained unresolved and not responded to (I had given a week), I cancelled our final meeting as it's awkward having someone ignore you then come to your home. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable continuing the working relationship. The fashion suggestions were very basic ie "where a cardigan with a dress" and not what would expect from a stylist, more like something at the mall. This review reflects my personal experience as a paying client. Based on that experience, I would not work with this stylist again.

Most importantly, she helped me narrow in on my vision and clothing style, and how the two would intersect. She also educated me on the different brands and how to tell good quality clothes from mass-produced clothing where you're paying a high price just for the brand. 8 months later and I have been slowly curating my ideal closet based on that initial consultation, and her lessons always run through my head whenever I go shopping. I also really appreciate that she's always available on her Facebook group as well whenever I have a question for a continuing education! As someone who has always struggled with fashion, my consultation with Candace has been incredibly pivotal in helping me to express myself that way I've always wanted to!

She is very detailed and creative and I would recommend her to anyone I know who is looking to spruce up their wardrobe for a special occasion or even just to change their daily style. We started the day reviewing my old clothes. She showed me why some clothes weren't working for my body type and kept the ones that fit. From there, she made a list of clothes I needed for my lifestyle and where to go to find them within my budget. Usually shopping days are very stessful, but with Candace's guidance and new education she provided, I am rocking it! Thank you Candace - 10 stars if I could!

No more standing in front of an over-packed closet, scratching my head, wondering what I'm going to wear! Working with Meg has been extremely therapeutic for me. I have some very specific body issues that I've never successfully addressed. Not only is Meg non-judgmental and compassionate about these issues, but she was able to accommodate my requests in ways I didn't even know were possible! Here's the difference between a Meg outfit and an outfit that I put together: every single time I wear a 100% Meg outfit I get a compliment. When I wear clothes of my choosing - no comment. Without fail. I'm not exaggerating. I now predict and look forward to the compliments in my Meg outfits. And btw, this still continues, over one year later... I'd like to think that I'm a smart cookie. So I've tried to learn from Meg and copy some of her choices, thinking that I could garner those compliments on my own. Nope. As a matter of fact, most of the clothes that I buy without Meg, I end up returning. They just don't have that special "je ne sais quoi" that she brings to the equation. Another interesting experience with Meg: all my life I thought I was a size Medium or Large because I was considered tall in my day (5'8"). Wrong! Meg sizes me in Small and even Extra Small! What? Who knew? So not only did I have bad taste in clothes before, but I wasn't even buying the right sizes - and this applies to shoes as well! With shoes I've learned it's not about the shoe size, but about the fit (duh.) However, psychologically, I'd never think to try on a size 7 since I've been an 8-8.5 my entire adult life. But, let me tell you how comfortable those size 7 sandals are on my feet - they fit me like lambskin gloves... For Valentine's Day I bought Meg's special V-Day package for my husband. At 6'4" and size 15 shoe, he's a difficult guy to fit. Not for Meg! Not only did she add some very cool clothes to his wardrobe, but she got him a new suit that is so hip, he looks at least 10 years younger. The man makes the clothes, I know, but let me tell you what a difference it is to put that man in some newer, more up to date clothes and shoes! ;-) So, if you're anything like me and you always thought that Stylists were for celebrities - think again. Working with Meg has been the best investment I've made in years. Do not look any further. Pick up the phone right now and call her to make an appointment. You'll be so glad you did!
