They left everything clean and followed up to ensure we were pleased with the work done. I would absolutely recommend Butler Heating and Air to anyone in the area. In fact, after my experience, I sent them over to do some work at my mothers home. Once again, they were spot on. My 83 year old mother felt very comfortable with them and is pleased with the outcome. She was concerned (and told by another company) that she would need a new HVAC. After receiving an estimate for a complete furnace and air conditioning unit, I asked questions of Keith to clarify missing info about what was stated in the proposal. He was not able to clarify the details of the contract when I asked him to explain why the details were not listed in the proposal. He said he could hand write the info, that he would be back in touch by the next day. He has not called back, and his inability to answer clear questions about the installation of furnace and air conditioning is troubling. The system would have cost $15,000- so we have gone elsewhere with our business. Keith was unprofessional and would not even clarify why we should buy his system. So I'm gonna say that this was a horrible experience. I own multiple homes in Dayton and one had a boiler that needed to be check out. 4 days and no call back after the technician came out. The best part was when I called them for my quote the amount of stuttering on the phone was crazy! I mean you guys quote me and charge and I pay that's the land lord game. One rep said you know a boil is expensive right? I said you know that's how this work right? I buy things from you and you get paid. Than I get a call that's says we can't get a boiler in for at least a month. The house is empty lol it was a no rush deal. I never met a company that didn't want to work. I have been a customer of Butler for more than twelve years. I looked at the service dates on my two HVAC units both of which they installed. I hired Butler after many late or last many canceled appointments by my previous supplier. From that time until the last year they were 4-5 star. Things have changed not for the best I might add. We had an annual agreement on spring and fall service and start-up. We would receive a call to schedule a service date. Not anymore, personal calling is no longer an option. We returned from Florida May 3rd and I was concerned I had not heard from Butler. I called and said we have a contract for our spring start-up and I haven't heard from you. She looked us up and informed me we do not have a contract and the next available date was three weeks out. I said we didn't receive any reminder notice. She said we sent you and e-mail last March ? something. We were booked for May 18, 2022 early? I have a flight that afternoon. She asked me three times if I was going to be able to pay for the service call. What an insult! In closing I was a business owner for over fifty years with 100 employees. I sold the business to a larger company. In eighteen-months they had lost many of the customers and several key employees. The sold and walked away. I had Butler come out to remove and reinstall my a/c compressor a few months ago and they were all time on both visits. I recently had a fuse blow at the compressor and the technician told me to run a check on the fuses. One fuse was bad, so after replacing both fuses, I not have a/c. Thanks Butler.... We were converting the house from electric heat to gas, and I was so overwhelmed as to where to begin. I had 3 HVAC companies provide a quote, but Butler was the only one that actually walked me through the process and provided a quote based on the load calculations of my house that's right for me. Ben Rentz was the project manager, and he was super easy to work with, and walked me through all the steps and worked with vectren to convert the house to natural gas. We purchased a furnace, AC and water heater. Due to the small space for the water heater in the utility closet, the water heater would not fit. Butler upgraded us to a tankless water heater for FREE! Contractors like Butler Heating & Air Conditioning is why I do not trust contractors... I called Butler Heating & A/C to repair my a/c. When they got here, the pipe to condenser was frozen, had to be shut off and unfrozen before problem could be diagnosed. Two days later, they came out again and said the problem was the dirty coil from not changing the filter once a month like I should, didn't surprise me because the same thing happened before and cost $275 to clean. ... So I asked, how much to clean the coil? he replies... wait for it.......he replies between $2,500 - & $3,000 with no guarantee, but if I wanted, he could replace the coil with a guarantee and that would cost between $4,000 - $5,000, I kid you not....I couldn't believe it, I asked why so much for cleaning the coil? he shrugs and says "inflation, prices have gone up"! So of course, I told him I was going to get other estimates....After he left, I was so mad that I decided, screw it all and planned on cleaning it myself after watching quite the few you tube videos, finding out it wasn't to awfully complicated to do and learned a lot of homeowners do this themselves as regular yearly maintenance..... So I bought a shop vac, two cans of the spray cleaner and a wired brush planning to do the job Sunday morning. The night before I was whining to my daughter's beau about Butler trying to rip me off and that I was just going to do it myself and he told me no, no, no and gave me the name of the a/c company who services him on a regular basis, said they were trustworthy and do not jack up their prices... So I called them, Douglas Heating & Cooling, they came out Monday morning, It turns out it was not only did the dirty coil need to be cleaned, but the blower was out, the turning wheel was shot/unbalanced and both needed to be replaced and it would cost me....wait for it..... $770.21 and that was both parts and labor! I gave the go ahead, he ordered the parts, came out a little bit ago and just left my house with the A/C working as if it were brand new!... We had an aging air conditioning system. Butler worked with us to get us a quote to replace and allowed us to decide when we were ready to move forward...and was sure to stay in touch with no pressure sales calls to see where we were in our decision making process. When the time came to replace we had some challenges that their knowledgeable sales staff helped us navigate. We love our new system and was able to cool a few rooms that we have had trouble in the past cooling! The staff is genuinely concerned about the comfort and health of our family in suggesting products to help keep our home cool and to improve our air quality. The tech said motor bad I asked how much he told me then I asked why the additional charges to go get the part and a $90 charge to show up the tech said quote"I'm not talking to you" walked out and drove off. I spoke with the service manager and told him what happened his answer was the new owner has told his techs that they are to walk if the customer questions price so I asked how long the new owner plans on being in business? Several years ago I looked into putting a new hvac system in my house. The butler sales person talked me out of it. A sales person talks me out of putting a new system in....... what salesman does that?? An honest salesman from a great company thats who! The service department kept it running for about 6 more years. This year the air conditioner finally kicked the bucket(RIP). So I went ahead and replaced both this summer. The install went very smooth, everything was just as they said. The guys that installed it worked really hard and did a great job. The price was right in line with every body else. I didn't realize how bad my old system was. The air conditioner keeps the house nice and cool and doesn't run constantly. The furnace keeps the house nice and warm and does run constantly. If you need service or a new system, do yourself a favor and call Butler. read more

About 10 years ago my parents replaced a water heater and HVAC system in their then ~5 year old house. This company charges a premium but earned the trust of my parents. Recently they replaced the same water heater they installed 10 years ago, telling us that it was a poor unit and was not worth fixing. Again the price was ridiculously high. The installer accepted an obscene tip. We believe the equipment they used is sub-par and they took advantage of our elderly parents. We are very disappointed. read more

Don't use them, after spending $10,251 on a/c & furnace they tore the insulation on the suction line which leaked water in the guest bedroom, ruining the drywall. The owner of Butler claimed it was not there fault. Funny we didn't have a leak prior to Butler doing there work. BEWARE read more

We used Butler Heating and Air recently and they were very fast to come out and determine the problem. They put in a new heating and AC unit that we needed. Unfortunately, the new unit started making loud noises and kept us up at night. We kept in contact with the company and they came back out and it was decided they would remove the replacement unit and put in an entirely new system. The newest system works great. The entire ordeal took about one week or a little more. I would recommend this company to anyone in the future. read more

Butler should be avoided. The company took advantage of a mentally challenged family member during a time of need. When his heater when out during recent near-zero-degree weather, Butler sold him a near top-of-the-line heater/AC unit with new duct work and registers for a whopping $16,560. This on a 68-year-old home just 630 sqft. in size. The bottom line is that Butler sold him what they could get away with selling in a time of emergency rather than advising on what was most economical for his tiny home. read more
