Every time we are in Buffalo to visit family we stop here and stock up on great deals of great wine! Mark and his staff really know how to make customers feel welcome and appreciated. Even though we go here when we are in town (2 or 3 times a year) they call us by name and remember us Florida Folks! Their selection is vast as far as I am concerned and the deals they offer on a variety of selections are much appreciated. I'm not what you would call a "liquor noob" as I spent a good portion of my adult life behind a bar and another portion of my life underneath it. I've tasted all sorts of weird booze, so I know my way around a liquor store. There are liquor stores who seriously hound you, with the "can I help you find anything?" questions. This place is the exact opposite. I was in one afternoon looking for a bottle of wine to pair with a charcuterie tray I was doing for dinner. Now, conventional wisdom says: charcuterie = Riesling, bubbles and dry rosé. All work great with salt, all cleanse the palate. So, here I am traipsing around this store, hoping to get in and out, but I can't find Riesling for the life of me. So, the three gents working that day were all behind the counter, having what appeared to be a personal conversation with another customer. Arggh. Now, I'm not saying that when I walk in, drop what you're doing and fawn all over me. But, at the very least, could you perhaps acknowledge my existence? That would be cool. I may give them another whirl sometime in the future. We'll see. read more

I have been here a hand full of times and none of them have been anything to write about. But I went in today and there was no greeting and employees are sitting around chatting. I walked back and looked for the vodka I normally get and didn't see it. So I grabbed another and walked up to the counter. The girl looked at me and said "here" to cash me out. Ok... I walk up and ask her if they carry what I was looking for and she says "no". Takes my card, gives me the receipt and says you need to sign, and just walked away. No offer of a bag or anything no have a nice day, just walked away and sat back down where she was. We forgot something so my husband went after I did, and said he stood there at the counter with 3 people behind it just sitting there talking waiting for their conversation to be over before they helped him. This is why I spend the few extra bucks to shop at straight up on elmwood. read more

Tucked away on Sheridan, there lies a liquor store next to Aldi's and Tops near Delaware. It's a perfectly good place, filled with bottles of exciting things. It took me some time to find what I was looking for - it's rare that I actually know what I want going into a store. I did end up finding it, so all was good. Also, the person working knew what Metaxa was - a plus in my book - because I've been looking for Metaxa for weeks! I give this place a 3 star rating because it's a perfectly good liquor store - especially if you're in the area. That said, the prices seemed a little high to me. Some of the deals on wine weren't as good as other places I've seen. But, it's a larger store, so if you need a couple things you could find a lot more here. Plus, they seemed to have a huge boxed wine selection - perhaps a more environmentally conscious liquor store? read more

The service was terrible. One of the male workers pointed to the back of the store when I asked for a specific wine. When I went to the counter, the female cashier was very condescending and had an attitude as she said we strive for good service, meanwhile holding up my card. Products are well organized with LOADS of incredible deals. They have a whole corner of the store dedicated to $6 wine! I'm praying that it's an all the time sale (it looks like it is) and this corner is what will be supplying my wine needs for the foreseeable future. Located on the corner of Sheridan Drive and Delaware Road, right next to an Aldi and Tops, Butler's places your liquor store needs amongst your standard errands, where it belongs. I've always found everything I needed, staff is kind and helpful, booze is affordable and well organized, location is right by my apartment, next to my grocery store. I'm a regular customer of Butler's via Drizly and I just placed another order, only to have it cancelled without notification. When I called in to find out where my order was, the guy on the phone admitted to canceling it because they don't "take cash tips". I requested a cash tip through Drizly because of the poor driver service on our last order. I gave them another shot this time because I understand that things happen and I wanted to be able to tip accordingly. If your policy forbids cash tips, then you should note that on the Drizly app or not participate in the service. And when someone calls with a customer service concern, your smarmy "we don't care about your business" attitude doesn't go very far at all. Am I gonna call back tomorrow to talk to the manager? Nope. Am I gonna tell everyone who uses an alcohol delivery service during this pandemic to steer clear of Butler's? Absolutely. read more

this place is literally as good as it gets. HUGE selection of wines and no liquor store around can beat the prices at Butler's. as if their great prices aren't enough, they always have coupons for 20% off your wine purchase or 10% off your liquor purchase either on their website or in the paper. even when I lived in Kenmore and Straight Up (which is insanely over priced and wine selection sucks) was across the street from me, I still drove the extra mile to come here. not only are the prices unbeatable, but the staff is really awesome and knowledgeable about their items. also they have regular wine tastings on the weekend! who doesn't love that? this is and always will be my go-to! read more

When I first started my bourbon drinking adventures this was one of the first places I decided to get a bottle. Since then it has become the benchmark of pricing for the other liquor stores in the area and, as so far, it has yet to be beat. Staff seems friendly enough.
