Went for a wine tasting and really enjoyed the experience. They are priced reasonably and you receive a $10 credit to use in store on the day of the tasting. The sommelier was quite knowledgeable of the wines and from the frequent fliers, she provides a wonderful experience. read more

I like being greeted upon arrival and any time I've needed help, which is rare, someone has been available and kind. In terms of the big-box liquor stores, I prefer this one to its primary competition (Amherst St. Liquors, owned by Wegmans). It's big, it's clean, it's got a nice whisky selection. They've got the same annoying mail-in rebate deals instead of/alongside conventional discounts, just as ASL has, possibly due to state laws beyond their control, but...really? Who even uses the mail? The employees are nice enough, but also young enough and with a high enough turnover that you might not be able to use them for advice on a lot. It's not a knock on the store so much as a reason that I prefer mom-and-pops like Caputi's and Gates Circle, where you're more likely to get in a conversation with seasoned boozehounds who know the ins and outs. But there is plenty to like here and a huge selection (with many choices in oft-neglected areas like vermouth and bitters), so I don't mean to be negative: I've been here often enough to consider myself a fan, and I'll be back. read more

Great selection of wines and liquors, a few ciders too since those are apparently in a gray area in NY and are sold in both liquor stores and beer and grocery stores. Recently discovered that they do tasting presentations. They're $10 but you get a $10 voucher to spend the night of the class so they're basically free. We did one on Spanish wines that was really good and exposed me to some wines I hadn't had before. read more

I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place. I used to make a special trip for my beloved Blueberry Bounty, a blueberry wine/mead hybrid from Earle Estates Meadery in the Finger Lakes I can't find anywhere else locally, but they recently stopped carrying it. I'm so sad. Otherwise, it's a large solid stop for local, national, and international wines and liquors if you're in the area, but it doesn't have anything I like that I can't find closer to home, and for less. There's always a lot of checkout lanes so you can be in and out quickly. It's also next door to Premier Gourmet, which hasn't let me down for local(ish) beer and has all sorts of gourmet and imported foods. read more

Magnificent store, expansive, well laid out for convenient browsing and seeking your favorite wines or discovering something new. The inventory is enormous but each section and or category has helpful suggestions and recommendations from the staff. The floor specialists are knowledgeable; very helpful in answering or make suggestions based on your personal wine and or spirit preferences. Very difficult to find help. I was in the store at 12:15 p.m. on a Monday. I couldn't find what I was looking for I tried to find help Everyone working there was busy chatting with another employee. I finally asked one of them if he could help me and I said I'm looking for chomboard I know it's in this aisle but I can't find it he said right it's right there he was very dismissive and looked annoyed that I had bothered him. This the largest liquor and wine store I have ever entered. I assume there are larger ones, but cannot imagine there are that many more brands or types of liquor than what is offered at Premier. Of course, being in NYS means that Premier offers liquor, liqueurs, brandies and wines. Beers are sold across the hall, in the Gourmet Shop. Update: Stopped in to look for a specific wine and they sent the senior wine expert over to assist me. He was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and helped me find what I was looking for (Haut-Bailly). When they didn't have the vintage I was looking for in stock, he called the other Premier on Transit for me to see if they did, and provided even more recommendations based on their selection. Just wanted to give a shoutout for the great service! --- Premier is great. Grab a cart or basket on your way in, I guarantee you'll find more than what you came in for. The wines are organized by origin and also by type, so make sure you check you check the NY wines and Riesling sections if you're looking for a NY Riesling (for example). The NY wall has a lot of NY wines, organized by trail- Niagara, Erie, Finger Lakes, Long Island, etc. There's also a special room for those fancy wine drinkers. ;) They usually have samples in the front of the stores, or at least on the weekends. In addition to wines, come for the liquor! Whiskeys, vodkas, runs, bourbons, etc- they have it! They even carry "travel size" bottles of many liquors, great if you wanna try something new or take on a plane perhaps. They also have local distillers as well. So long story short, stop in to buy whatever you came for, take home something new, and support local! read more

Went in here looking for specific wines or at least wines similar to those we recently had at a wine tasting. We are having friends over and wanted to duplicate the wine tasting and share the experience with them. Just one thing I did not like.1-There was no spot when checking out online for me to input my premiere liquor card number, for discount savings. Other than that it was fine. It's cold season, good television season, and entertainment season, so it's the best time to stop in at Premier. This location is my favorite. The staff is helpful, and I never have any problems. When you know many people who enjoy wine, it's nice to stop in here and stock up on gifts. They always have specials going and their prices are great. I like that they have a lot of local wines too if you want to support local. For cold season, I love making hot toddy's, usually with Brandy, but Krupnik has mostly taken its place. It's a honey whisky and it is the best with hot tea when you feel a cold coming on or have a sore throat. I love using the brandy for recipes. And wine goes best with Thurday night television and friends. read more

I'm looking at this page and the reviews from 2010 and on and wondering, how did i miss this place! We noticed this store on our last day of our mini family vacation. On all of our visits to the US side of Niagara Falls, we like to stay in Amherst. It's a 20-25 minute drive from the Falls, but conveniently central to all the best/newer hotels, restaurants & best of all - shopping! On our last trip at the end of August, we saw this store and i HAD to stop in! I was looking for a specific liqueur and it was a product that is not available in Canada. Hubby & i stopped by on our way back to the border. This store is HUGE! It has just about any and every type of booze you can think of. Staff was friendly & helpful in showing us where we needed to look. I also noticed the other part of the store. Yeah, they don't just sell liquor! They have a gourmet food shop adjacent to their store. With olive oils, seasonings, cold cuts, fine cheeses etc. Next time, i'll make sure we stop in here first! read more

I was brought back here by the coupons and the product rebates they sent us in a flyer. The vodka prices were too good to pass up. So we didn't. The parking lot was nicely plowed on a day it needed to be. The shopping carts worked and weren't in the parking lot, which is always great. We were there early and it wasn't busy. They carry every brand of vodka possible, except of course small batch regional ones that aren't actually from the NY State regional area. It's still three stars - yes locally owned, but so big that it feels like a large chain place. But the current vodka deals are great. 17/U read more

Very poorly organized celebrity signing event today! I bought the bottle of bourbon at 10am that was supposedly needed for the signing. Apparently in addition to the receipt I needed a ticket to hold my place in line later that day. I never received a ticket because they weren't handing them out at 10am for whatever reason. So I get to the event expecting to get in some sort of a line and there was just a cluster of people gathered. No employees telling anyone what to do. No organization. No line. I finally found out from another person waiting I need a ticket. Now I'm in the 700's. Finally after 3 hours someone came out to have everyone form a line in number order. An hour after they started turning people away! I am incredibly disappointed as this was my first ever attempt to meet a celebrity. read more

This place is amazingly huge! The wide assortments of liquor is phenomenal and he prices are reasonable. The shelves are always nicely stocked and the service is top notch. Whenever I walk in, they always seem to have someone providing samples and educating you about the type of sample. Further, if I am walking through the aisles and have question, the staff have always been very helpful on the question at hand. For the holidays they even have a section with various bottles packaged up in boxes with an included special items such as wine glass or flask. They also offer Wine Mind which is an occasional class throughout the month where you formally sample wine and they tell you how it's made and what to pair it with. A must do! read more

I had a bad experience with this company. I ordered a bottle of wine as a gift on December 21 and I just wanted it to arrive by Dec 28. On December 22 I received a notice that my order wasn't going to ship until 12/26 and I ended up asking for the order to be cancelled on 12/23 since the person I was shipping to was going to be leaving on 12/29 for 10 days and I was going to re-order upon their return. A few days later receive a shipping notice and discover the order was never cancelled. It was then delivered to the wrong address and someone else signed for it. I let Premier Wines know and they told me they were tracking it and then I heard nothing. I put in a claim with FedEx myself and they informed me they are denying my claim because the shipper (Premier Wines) did not comply with FedEx policy. I will say Premier Wines has good prices but their customer service is lacking and apparently they don't follow FedEx policy for shipping alcohol so if there's a mistake you're out of luck. read more

I love this place for their selection and their prices are usually pretty reasonable. I would like to give two stars but because of the aforementioned like for the place I gave it three. Was given a gift certificate for Christmas and went to use it, the gift certificates can only be used at ONE location. Which is probably the location that the person bought it from. This makes absolutely no sense. I left without buying anything when I was already at the register. I went to a 4th of July party and I taste some vodka infused with some chocolate truffles flavor in it called One ROQ, it tasted great. The person continued to say that the people who made the liquor are from buffalo N.Y. and that there was another flavor that had loganberry in it. So when I arrived at the store and ask the lady at the counter about it she knew right what I was talking about and said that it's a lot of people asking about the loganberry flavor. Premier is the template for which all wine and spirit stores should be based. The selection is outstanding and the prices are unbeatable. It is upsetting at times for us to shop there when we come across items that we are paying 2 and sometimes 3 times the price for through the LCBO. We paid under $50 for a 1.75 liter bottle of Makers Mark bourbon. A 750ml bottle retails for $50 at the LCBO. So savings are definitely to be had here. They have a Japanese whiskey section that is worth exploring. The wine selection is equally as impressive. We purchased bottles of Australian wines that were priced less than $10 and were of excellent quality. I could write about this place all day it is awesome. I enjoy every visit here. I was planning a family wine tasting over Christmas. I did a terroir tasting showing my family the same grape varietal from different countries and how different they can taste. The gentleman I asked for help at Premier was very knowledgeable and directed me to some great wines in the price point and varietals I was looking for. My family loved the experience so much some of them went back to Premier to find more wines to try outside the normal California and grocery store wines. It's no secret, I like liquor, booze, dranks, cocktails whatever you want to call it. This place has it all. Admittedly I'm more of a mom and pop type store shopper but there is something about this huge, well light, stocked alcohol mecca that I can't escape. Today I was there for a free tasting class, Jameson Whiskey was the subject. Perfect since it's almost St. Patricks Day! The class was a bit shy of an hour, very informative lead by a pleasant guy he wasn't judgey or snobby as some conniseuers can be. We got 3 generous pours, tiny crackers and cheese, water and a whiskey lesson. I highly recommend checking the website for a list of classes! You can do 2 in a 30 day period. Cashier named Ann asks for my ID and then proceeds to look at it and question it for at least 4 min. Asks me for multiple forms of ID which I gladly provide and it still isn't good enough.....? Then calls to see if a manager is there to double check. I am 100% fine with being ID'd and even questioned because I do have a baby face (although I never have been!). The manager Susan apparently is not available so the cashier tosses my ID at me, rolls her eyes and yells "well whatever" and rings me out begrudgingly and with a horrible attitude throughout the entire visit. Seemed mad because she couldn't turn me down for a sale! Won't be back to a place where the employee makes the CUSTOMER feel as horrible as I felt today! read more

Employee: "Hello! Is there anything that I can help you find?" Us, upon seeing the vast expanse of wines and spirits cast in front of us: "Um...we're from Pennsylvania..." Employee: "Ah...so you're in heaven, then!" Us, still wide-eyed: "Basically, yes!" With over 13,000...yes...THIRTEEN THOUSAND bottles of wine (according to the employee who helped us), and an immense whiskey selection, there's really no better place to shop for such things. It's easy to get overwhelmed with their selection, but it's worth taking some time and looking around. The aisles are nicely labeled with regions and countries so you can search pretty quickly. You can also search their online site and buy online to pick up in-store. Although, I noticed that they didn't seem to have everything in store listed online. Also, as a scotch drinker, Premier might be unbeatable. Their aisle of scotch was impressive, but I quickly realized that they didn't have any bottles on the shelves that were above $100. Not to worry, though...if you're looking for something a little more hard to find or costly, ask an associate to see the reserve room. You'll be pleasantly surprised. You may also notice that their prices in the reserve room, while obviously expensive in the first place, are a little higher for some bottles than you'll see in other places. Of course, sometimes the premium cost is worth it if the availability is in front of you. Their bourbon selection is also pretty good, but after seeing the rest of the store, I was actually slightly underwhelmed by the bourbon selection. That's obviously relative, though, so it's nothing to balk at! With a helpful, positive, and knowledgable staff, plus an incredible selection, there's no need to shop anywhere else if you're local! read more

What stands out to me the most about Premier is their white wine selection. I was able to find wines that are sparsely stocked at most other stores. For example, I'm delighted when any wine store carries a selection of South African whites, but most of the time said stores stock their South Africa section primarily with Sauvignon Blanc. This is fine - I love it. But Chenin Blanc is where it's at when it comes to South African whites, and whoever does the ordering for Premier seems to understand this. They also have a number of my go-to's that I can't always find elsewhere, including Picpoul de Pinet, Gavi, and Vinho Verde. Premier has an expansive inventory of New Zealand whites. One thing I admire dearly about Premier is that they do not dedicate a disproportionate amount of shelf space to California wines. To each their own, but some of us don't like Cali wines, and some stores simply fail to grasp that. Premier is not one of those stores! The prices here are great, especially if you shop the sales! Last, but certainly not least - the staff here is knowledgeable and friendly! Asking questions is one of my favorite things to do at wine stores because I'm admittedly not an expert and I'm always trying to learn more about what I like. You can do that here comfortably - as in, without feeling unwelcome or dumb - and if the person you ask can't help you, they'll find someone who can. I trust that. read more

As for liquor, especially wines, the information posted concerning its flavor, aroma and bouquet are the best of any liquor store I've ever found, and though getting some assistance may often be difficult, everyone who works here seem knowledgeable about all of their offerings. Their inventory is huge and if you are into rare wines and willing to drop hundreds of dollars a bottle, they have a rare wine area for you.
