i've been coming to Buttercup dairy for 30 years and I can tell you that it has changed drastically while everybody raves about the freshest cold cuts yes maybe so but the products in the store are outrageous Everything is processed other than the small farm stand. They have outside. They lost all of their small town feel. I could've always counted on Buttercup to have something healthy besides fruit and vegetables maybe avocado chips or a more healthier version of pretzels or I'm more healthy version of anything. Everything that they carry now is processed. I used to always buy ice cream now not so much. It's the cheap of the cheap and the charging you top dollar for it! It's really a shame they took away the small ice cream area where the kids would go in and get their ice cream and get excited about it and put in the freezers which sell complete garbage. I think they forgot about the time when their mom and dad actually had a dairy and everything was healthy. It's a shame that they're forgetting about their older community believe me I'm far from old, but I come in to get some fresh fruit and maybe a few snacks on a healthy side. This is not even a possibility anymore and the baked goods that used to be amazing are now completely processed palm oil folic acids dyes are in one of their products. Well, I understand that these products do cost good money and they would have to do an up charge, but what they're selling is the garbage that you don't want in your children's diet nor your families... I bought cookies, Italian cookies that were expired and full of garbage. Be sure that you read every label in there because I've been there many a time where I've seen people either put a lot of stuff back or complain about it. I feel that now they're making their money in the cold cut area because of the kids and going back to school, but what about everybody else who supported you all these years! It's time for Buttercup to go back to healthy not just a little section when you walk in of overpriced fruit cups in a small area..... I always love going over there but in the last year or so I go less and less so even though Buttercup, you don't care because you're making your money with a Youngin's it's a shame where your family started and where you are now you need to do better and carry products that are not killing us. I know this sounds a bit dramatic but as we age, it's very important what we put in our bodies even when we're younger, but what you're selling now is not OK. I hope this changes. I don't think mom and dad are very proud right now. They know where they started..... it's all about the money now and it's very sad so much for community. I guess that's gone. read more

Absolutely delicious baked goods. No need to travel 45 minutes to that place out east. The Dutch Apple pie is to die for. Their website indicates that they carry strawberry rhubarb as a special order but it doesn't appear they carry it in the store on a regular basis. I will try to order it ahead next time, but there's a chance it's a seasonal item and may not be available. We'll find out. I haven't tried the deli but everything in the cases looks really fresh and delicious . I'm looking forward to trying it the next time I'm there. I'm very disappointed lately. three times I have asked for certain deli meat. and instead I received the cheaper store brand. not realizing it until I get home and unpack my bags. on top of that. the younger men / high schoolers they look like , always rush it. for example I asked for super think salami. it takes. little longer to cut yes .. . but no one likes extra thick deli meat. They always pack it up, don't show it to you. etc. again, you get home and wind up throwing the meat out again. So anyone ever ordered a GROSS 3FT HERO?? WELL .. THIS IS THE PLACE TO GET ONE!! We ordered a chicken hero for a party and the bread crumbs were white and the chicken was not sliced. It was just the cutlet placed on the hero and the chicken was hard . Yeah ... try wrapping your lips around that. We called and we were told the chicken is cooked elsewhere and they just make the sandwich. Ya think you could mention that on your flyer??? I've shopped here for convenience vs. overpriced items. Today was enough for me. I was the only one in line at the deli counter, with 6 people behind the counter, 2 backs turned to me, and the rest ignored me. I patiently waited until I was done watching what was going on. I say loudly, excuse me. A young girl turns around, gives me a look (I bothered her), and walks away without a word. Eventually, she comes back and asks "what do you need." I tell her just 2 deli items. When she was done, she returned, asked "is that all you need." I replied yes, and she dropped my items on the counter, eyes rolled, and walked away. But wait, there's more. I purchased several produce items, which I washed thoroughly before using, all covered in ants! How does this place stay in business? Absolutely disgusting. =Buttercup's Dairy Store I've been going for years but today is my last visit. I had my 6 pound service dog with me on a blanket in the wagon. I went to the deli counter, I was stared at then the short lady whispers something to the young man who tells me the dog can not be in the store. I say he can because he's a service animal. As he is taking care of my order the short woman is now whispering to another employee I'm assuming it's about my 6 pound non shedding non barking service dog when someone comes behind me and tells me the dog can't be in here. I said he's a service dog and the young man told me and he's wearing a tag, they walk away. Then from behind the counter to my left another lady tells me how he can't be here. I again said many people told me and he's a service dog, with a blank stare as if she never heard of a service dog just keeps staring at me. Yup you guessed it now there is a tall woman next to the woman who is still staring and tells me the dog can't be here. Well I started to talk loud. 5 people have told me and I keep saying he's a service dog, must every employee make me feel uncomfortable, I get louder and emotional, I have anxiety and medical PTSD which I should not have to tell you. The response I got from tall woman is they did nothing wrong. I said do i have to wear a hat saying service dog next time but sadly there will be no next time. As I waited to pay the woman in front of me said I heard what had happened to you and I'm so sorry. I started to cry, again anxiety and medical PTSD that I don't share with the public makes me nervous when I'm out. Thank you buttercup dairy for a horrible experience. And now I will spread the word are how you make disabled people feel. Food is everywhere and nobody needs to spend their money there . wonderbar deli is pretty close, hallack ave. My father who has an issue with his eyes tearing went into Buttercup today. He had to pull his mask down a little to help wipe away the issue because he was having a hard time reading. I am unable to leave me house so I tried to place and order from the deli department and a couple of grocery items so I could have it all picked up at once by someone. I spoke to who I was told was a manager and she told me that they could do that because they are rang up separate departments and they could do grocery items. They had quite a few to choose from, including more than one kind of Apple Pie, Cherry Pie, Blueberry Pie, and Carrot Cake (all baked fresh), both small and large. I bought the large Dutch Apple Pie, (with crumb topping & apple filling). It was a good 14" (if I had to guess) and it was $8.99. It was delicious! Not too sweet, just the right amount of everything. The staff was very helpful & quick. I was in & out in under 10 minutes, which is unheard of, for a Sunday. I would definitely recommend & return. read more
